VP of Finance at ALX

JOB SKILLS, MINDSETS & BACKGROUND

• You have experience with recurring revenue/subscription-based online businesses a plus
• You deeply understand finance and can move easily between uncovering why a balance sheet is not balancing, to building a 3-statement financial model, to overseeing the set-up of a new chart of accounts, to putting together a dashboard tracking key financial metrics, to putting together an inspiring and data-driven deck explaining how the business performed to our board of directors & investors
• You have demonstrated ability to manage teams and diverse stakeholders, deliver on various projects, and perform well under pressure
• You thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy making order out of chaos
• You are an excellent communicator, and can translate complex finance into language that can be understood by the board, investors, the internal management team and staff

REQUIRED BACKGROUND

• You have 10+ years experience in private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, investment banking, or other senior financial management role
• You have relevant experience in a similar role (preferably VP Finance or CFO) within a high growth business with global operations and a global customer base
• You have CPA designation

Responsibilities

The mission of the VP of Finance job is to support this rapid growth over the coming years, ALX/The Room is looking for an entrepreneurial VP of Finance to build out a world-class strategic finance function. 
The goals of the VP of Finance job are to Oversee operational finance and ensuring excellence, Leading internal financial planning & analysis, and to Interface with shareholders, board members, and external stakeholders
The main activities of this role will be to:-

• Build foundational systems and processes: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of a global accounting system and chart of accounts, including ongoing updates to support business growth and change
• Build and manage finance team: Design the structure of the finance function (operational and strategic), and hire, train, and manage this team
• Oversee management reporting: Ensure accuracy of monthly/quarterly management reporting 
• Lead internal financial planning & analysis: This includes annual/quarterly planning, as well as ad hoc financial analyses to support executive decision-making
• Lead annual budgeting: Lead annual budgeting process and support senior leadership team members in developing budgets; monitor ongoing performance against budget
• Develop financial and tax strategies: Drive continuous improvements to our business model by developing financial and tax strategies to optimize our bottom line
• Optimize cash-flow management: Provide guidance to the finance team on AR/AP management, and design controls and processes 
• Lead shareholder and board reporting: Developing and delivering presentations on our financial performance to shareholders and board members 
• Manage capital raises and transactions: Includes restructuring existing instruments, seeking new capital, and ongoing investor engagement
• Working with external auditors: Lead engagement with external auditors to ensure compliance with relevant tax authorities across our sites
