    Economic Recovery Officer - Life skills /Digital trainer

    Overall purpose of the role: 

    • The Economic recovery/Life skills Officer – Digital opportunities project, will report to the economic recovery team leader, h/she will also closely work with the economic recovery and the digital opportunities team. The position will support the digital opportunities trainees in linking them to the aspect livelihoods, offer a wide range life skills training, entrepreneurship training, business plan development and support in livelihoods mentorship.  
    • The position is aimed developing the digital opportunities project participants to able to gain skills in negotiation, good communication, developing their CV`s and online profiles, create their own business plans and bid for online jobs successfully. 
    • The position holder will work with a team of digital opportunities staffs which include an officer, assistants, digital trainers and a digital opportunities consultant.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Project Management and Development: 

    • Participate in project planning & implementation including activity, budgeting and procurement/logistics planning 
    • Develop and maintain detailed implementation plans to deliver program to agreed timeline and milestones
    • Ensure all project activities are implemented on time and in line with the set-out work-plans
    • Document lessons learned from training activities, community meeting and assist in preparing training reports
    • Participate together with the digital team to prepare/adopt training manuals E.g lifes skills, entrepreneurship, work readiness/skills for work success  
    • Establish and Maintain the digital training database.
    • Keep inventory of all the ICT equipment’s under your supervision
    • Support needs assessment and propose new ideas to improve the digital learning and on-line jobs for youth.

    Mentorship;

    • Provide both financial literacy and life skills training to the trainees.
    • Provided entrepreneurship training, business plans development skills 
    • Support the beneficiaries in bidding for online jobs by providing skill in developing good online profiles and helping in development of winnable bids 
    • Lead and manage the mentorship sessions offered to the beneficiaries 
    • Coordinate closely with Ajira Kenya and Dadaab collective who provide mentorship to the trainees 
    • Support in the review the mentorship curriculum and strategies in place.
    • Support acculturation, priority setting, networking, career planning, and counseling related to the individual's (mentee's) identified goals toward advancement in their freelancing career.
    • Support freelancers in client engagement and contract management strategies
    • Watch out for trends on the online platforms and advise the program team on ways to align implementation 

    Monitoring and Reporting

    • Monitor the mentorship program 
    • Keep accurate records of special events and training activities including meeting/class/training attendance  
    • Collect and analyze livelihoods data on a monthly basis
    • Participate in periodic field level programme review and planning meetings
    • Support with weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual donor/internal reporting 
    • Monitor the linkages between digital learning and livelihoods especially the growth of earnings by the online freelancers 
    • Record the progress on learning in building their life skills and entrepreneurship skills 
    • Report the general growth and the progress of the beneficiaries 
    • Submit weekly/monthly project updates to the digital learning officer

    Planning and Budgeting

    • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly plans and share with your supervisor with the aim of implementing them

    Experience and technical competencies: 

    • Four or more years’ experience working with I/NGOs within humanitarian/development contexts 
    • Demonstrable experience in livelihoods programming in a refugee and host community 
    • Experience in providing life skills training 
    • Has an understanding of digital and online job opportunities 
    • Demonstrates a good understanding of Project Cycle Management  
    • Has excellent communication (spoken and written) skills 
    • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and other relevant computer applications 
    • Good planning and organizational skills coupled with problem-solving ability
    • Possess good level of conflict management skills 
    • Possess a sense of cultural awareness, sensitivity and respect for diversity
    • Strong organizational, team spirit and team work skills
    • Knowledge of the key issues and trends in livelihood/food security interventions
    • Ability to tolerate diverse cultural, educational and religious diversity in the workplace

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Agriculture, Sociology, Development Studies or Economics.

    Language: 

    • Written and spoken fluency in English and Kiswahili 
    • Working knowledge of the Somali Language is an advantage.

    Protection Officer – SGBV Prevention

    Overall purpose of the role: 

    • The Protection Officer’s main role in this context will be coordination and networking with other staff and actors in the protection department to ensure quality case management and overall SGBV prevention and response work. The purpose of this post is to provide day to day coordination of timely and effective SGBV activities especially case management, psychosocial support and other protection related interventions to POCs and SGBV survivors in Ifo, Dagahaley and Hagadera (on need) Camps in Daadab. In particular, the person is responsible for coordinating protection work with more emphasis to case management, networking with other agencies on the needs of POCs and follow up of cases with overall protection lens; He will also work with the rest of the staff on the field activities like the integration of peace building activities, advocacy efforts related to inclusivity and safe work environment, Community engagements and calendar events maintaining DRC visibility , working  and liaising closely with the Protection team leader, Protection Officers-PSS and Prevention , Protection Assistants, MEAL Officer and Assistants on implementation, documentation and reporting of programme activities as per the donor requirements. She will undertake other duties as assigned by the Dadaab protection Team leader to ensure the project expectations are met.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Case Management

    • Coordinate case management for all survivors of SGBV ensuring all the case management protocols and systems are in place and followed i.e triaging, case prioritization, case allocation to case workers, PSS, tracking and follow up is completed to closure including at the safe spaces.
    • Provide assessment to vulnerable POCs and survivors of S/GBV ensuring individual and group level support is done with regular case reviews and file audits together with the response team and protection Team leader as the situation demands for support and quality assurance.
    • Work with the psychosocial counselors to ensure survivors of SGBV are provided with comprehensive psychosocial services focused on the survivor centered case management approaches and the information well documented.
    • Coordinate and ensure proper tools are in use, accurately used in documentation of client data i.e consent, intake forms, case plans, follow up forms, closure and ensure they are under lock and key (both electronic and physical files) for confidentiality and that ethical practices are observed.
    • Ensure that the GBVIMS is accurately updated on a regular basis in collaboration with the MEAL assistant and the monthly data generated and submitted for all case management activities.
    • Participate in the interpretation of the analyzed data on trends and work with GBV Team Leader and other protection staff to identify and disseminate trends/information to all relevant stakeholders.
    • Participate in the development /review of case management tools and systems, ensuring that all staffs using them are trained on their correct use.
    • Effectively coordinate the case referrals and case follow ups for all beneficiaries referred for Livelihoods and other interventions by other agencies through an integrated approach and the information is well documented and updated.

    Coordination and Networking

    • Promote collaboration and synergy between the protection department i.e SGBV Prevention and response team, VolRep ensuring POCs from the refugee and host community receive focused interventions in an integrated approach.
    • Maintain and strengthen existing networks and working relationship with other service providers at the camp level, to ensure POCs with protection concerns receive quality case management and protection support including safe home volunteers and agency partners i.e medical, security, legal and PSS service providers.
    • Actively participate in scheduled meetings such as the Case Conferences and SGBV inter-agency meetings with focus on quality case management holding partners accountable on the referral pathway including their participation in the participation in the annual update of the referral pathway.
    • Identify new networks to work with to ensure wholesome support to the clients under case management including community-based PSS for rehabilitation, safety and response to SGBV and overall protection program. 
    • Work in close collaboration with the GBV officers and assistants to ensure ongoing needs of at-risk groups, survivors of SGBV, women and girls are being met in the prevention/response related activities.
    • In collaboration with the protection team leader and other partners, design psychosocial and protection interventions within the refugee/host community focusing on the psychosocial needs of adults, youth and children with AGD inclusion.
    • Work in close collaboration with Livelihoods sector to ensure the implementation of the Protection-Livelihoods integrated approach
    • Work together with the protection assistants to build an effective referral networks between partners implementing GBV and facilitate adequate implementation of referral pathways.
    • Participate in conducting trainings for incentive staff and other community structures like SH volunteers on PFA, Basic counseling, CHS, EBIs, BCC and other relevant topics on case management.
    • Work with the protection team leader to lead protection team in project kick-off, review and project closure meetings including periodic program review and planning meetings, external meetings as often and as requested by the supervisor.
    • Coordinate and ensure all the minutes for the coordination and meetings are available and filed.

    Community Engagement and Outreach

    • Conduct sensitization, dialogue and mediation sessions with the wider population about issues of trauma and SGBV.
    • Facilitate formation of support groups for survivors of SGBV and other vulnerable groups.
    • Identify and strengthen Community structures through engaging community leaders, camp management and other stakeholders to ensure that the survivors receive adequate support at the community level.
    • Support GBV officer and GBV assistants, in disseminating relevant information during the Community SGBV prevention/response forums meetings. 

    Monitoring and Evaluaton 

    • Submit timely and high-quality activity, donor and internal progress reports that includes documentation of program milestones through case studies, best practice and human-interest stories, influencing impact at scale and contributing to donor fund raising on a regular basis.
    • Ensure appropriate use of case management data collection tools and submit reports in a timely and accurate manner    
    • Work closely with the protection officers, assistants and incentive staff to ensure quality documentation and reporting on case management
    • Ensure HAP Principles and CHS is mainstreamed in the day to day project implementation of case management and protection work
    • Staff Supervision-Liaise with the other Protection staff to identify training needs/gaps and with the support of the protection team leader, offer mentorship, technical supervision, capacity building to the Protection Assistants & Community Workers.
    • Assist with any other related activities e.g budget management, DIPs, staff supervision and appraisals, reporting and representing DRC in technical meetings as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
    • Organize for external capacity building forums on GBV Case Management and Therapeutic Counselling techniques.

    Experience and technical competencies: 

    • Minimum of 5 years work experience in providing and or coordinating case management /protection work in a refugee context
    • MUST be a female.
    • Knowledge and skills on computer, GBVIMS and utilization of case management tools
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including empathic listening, team player; ability to consult and work collaboratively with others.
    • Ability to communicate in a highly professional manner with clients, community members and partners upholding high ethical and professional standards including confidentiality.
    • Highly motivated, creative, and compassionate person who is dedicated to ensuring that models of best practice are utilized.    
    • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills and ability to work in a challenging environment, reporting and meeting the set deadlines.
    • Ability to promote the values of equality, non-discrimination, and human rights for all.

    Education

    • Degree in medical field, Counseling Psychology, legal, Social Work or other Social Science related field

    Language: 

    • Fluency in written and spoken English essential  .
