    Senior Consultant Business Development (General Insurance Broking)

    The Senior Consultant will provide support to the General Insurance Division in all aspects of insurance broking services. The role will report to a Manager within General Insurance.

    KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

    • Assist in developing specific plans to ensure revenue growth in the company’s products.
    • Generating accurate sales pipeline for monthly revenue streams.
    • Managing sales activities on major accounts and negotiating sales price and discount.
    • Continuous client engagements and research to advise the business on viability of existing insurance products and futuristic product enhancements.
    • Ensuring department achieves the set targets (budgets) through aggressive sales activity.
    • Engage closely with the marketing team in implementation of suitable public relation activities to position the company as a leading insurance broker.
    • Any other duty assigned from time to time.

    EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIES 

    The following experience is preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business or insurance related to course.
    • Diploma in Insurance or equivalent – ongoing.
    • 5 years’ experience in sales and marketing in an insurance firm.
    • Vast product knowledge in traditional covers and specialty risk insurance covers.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and product presentation skills.
    • Business etiquette.

    • Great interpersonal, adequate prospecting and selling skills.
    • Good analytical and decision-making skills.

    Manager Business Development (Medical Broking)

    KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

    Business Development & Growth

    • Support new business acquisition through proposal development, tenders, and presentations.
    • Partner with the business development team to structure competitive and differentiated medical solutions.
    • Identify cross-selling opportunities across Zamara’s broader risk, insurance, and pension offerings.
    • Contribute to thought leadership on medical insurance trends, SHA integration, and healthcare financing in Kenya.

    Client Relationship Management

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and HR teams.
    • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention.

    Advisory and Technical Support

    • Provide expert advice on benefit design, market benchmarking, and underwriting options.
    • Liaise with underwriters to structure optimal medical insurance solutions.
    • Interpret policy terms and guide clients on exclusions, claims procedures, and provider access.

    Market Intelligence and Reporting

    • Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and innovation in medical insurance.
    • Generate periodic performance reports and pipeline forecasts.

    People Leadership

    • Lead, coach, and develop the BD teams.
    • Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
    • Build a high-performance, client-centric culture focused on accountability and continuous learning.

    The following experience is preferred:

    KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES 

    • Strong technical knowledge of medical insurance products.
    • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
    • Financial and analytical capability, including claims and loss ratio analysis.
    • Client advisory and presentation skills, including engagement with senior executives.
    • Leadership, people management, and team development capability.
    • Strong understanding of the Kenyan healthcare and insurance market.

    QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE 

    • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional qualifications such as ACII, AIIK, LOMA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
    • Minimum of 7 –10 years’ experience in medical insurance brokerage, underwriting, or healthcare benefits management.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and complex client portfolios.

    Risk Consultant - General Insurance Claims

    KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

    • Customer Service: Act as the primary point of contact, advising clients on procedures and providing updates in a professional and timely manner.
    • Claims Processing: Registration, documentation, and analyse claims, including reviewing police reports and follow-up of general insurance claims (motor, property, liability, etc.).
    • Liability Assessment: Determine if claims are valid based on policy terms and conditions. Guide the client accordingly and follow through with insurers.
    • Settlement & Negotiation: Negotiate with insurers and other service providers (adjusters, investigators) to ensure fair and prompt settlement.
    • Ensuring prompt payment for all documented claims.
    • Assist in preparing claims reports and maintain the necessary registers.

    Other Duties

    • Support compliance with internal procedures, insurer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Perform general administrative duties related to the claims function.
    • Help identify patterns in claim types, frequency and severity to support risk management for our clients
    • Stay updated on industry regulations and legal precedents that could impact claim outcomes

    EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIES 

    The following experience is preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field.
    • Diploma in insurance is an added advantage
    • 1 – 3 Years work related experience
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
    • Willingness to learn and ability to work in a team environment.
