    Mail Clerk (2 Positions) - All Interested Applicants

    Duties

    BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

    • The incumbent is one of seven clerks in the Mission Nairobi mailroom and reports to the locally engaged (LE) Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) Supervisor and the American DPO Supervisor. The incumbent processes inbound and outbound DPO, unclassified diplomatic pouch, courier and local mail. He/she is responsible for providing excellent customer service to mailroom customers and performs other duties as assigned by the DPO Supervisor. He/she has no supervisory responsibilities. 

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE:  

    • One year of mail handling experience is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:  

    • Must have some knowledge of handling DPO, diplomatic pouch, local or international courier service mail. Knowledge of the functions, personnel, and practices of the embassy and its associated agencies.

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of secondary school is required.

    Evaluations:

    LANGUAGE: 

    • Level III (Good working Knowledge) Reading/speaking /writing English is required (This may be tested). Level III (Good working Knowledge) Reading/speaking /writing Kiswahili is also required.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

    • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
    • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
    • Must have a valid Kenyan driving license Class BCE.
    • Must be able to lift 70 pounds.

    Residential Security Coordinator (USEFMs Only)

    Duties

    • Incumbent provides administrative oversight of post's residential security program. Serves as the point of contact on all residential security matters between the RSO, General Service Office (GSO), Facilities Maintenance (FAC), and landlords. Conducts security surveys of all current housing to ensure residential security standards are maintained and conducts security surveys on all proposed housing to ensure security suitability can be obtained and compliance with the Overseas Security Policy Board’s OSPB standards before occupancy. 

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    Experience

    • Minimum of two (2) years of office administrative experience that includes managing customer inquiries, complaints, and drafting reports and correspondence is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Knowledge of procedures related to residential security concepts, principles, and techniques. 

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of high school is required.

    Evaluations:

    LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: 

    • Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing of English is required.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Must be able to work independently; adhere to strict deadlines and manage residential security upgrades for all Chief of Mission (COM) residences.  The incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license. Basic keyboard skills and computer literacy on a variety of software applications Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Google Earth is required.
    • Security clearance level required: Ability to receive and hold a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
