    Environmental Compliance Intern - USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI)

    ROLE’S PURPOSE:

    • The Environmental Compliance Intern is a short-term position which will be responsible for providing support to the ATI Environmental Compliance Team. The Intern will support the Environmental Compliance Team with specific duties and responsibilities as outlined below

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Intern will work with the Environment and Social Risk Manager to provide support in the following task areas:

    • Follow up with partners on regular environmental compliance reporting and ensure that the reporting is done as per schedule.
    • Regularly update the partner environmental compliance reporting and auditing schedule and plan
    • Support in conducting specified partner monitoring spot checks in the field.
    • Work and coordinate with partners and convene key meetings such as capacity building/training sessions, audit feedback sessions and kick-off sessions in a timely and organized manner.
    • Support in taking notes during environmental compliance meetings with partners and follow up on any requirements that may arise.
    • As guided, carry out relevant environmental compliance information sourcing and compilation, report writing and presentation.
    • Appraise environmental compliance reporting requirements and ensure completeness and accuracy of records.

    REPORTING: The position will report to the Environmental Compliance and Social Risk Manager

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences
    • Have formal training or interest environmental and social risk management of development programs
    • Have graduated not earlier than the year 2021
    • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work in the field, including remote areas, as this position may involve some traveling.

    Finance Intern - USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI)

    ROLE’S PURPOSE:

    • The Finance Intern is a short-term position which will be responsible for providing support to the ATI Finance Team. The Intern will support the Finance Team in ensuring adherence to financial policies, project policies and procedures, regulations, controls, and reporting systems. This position covers for the Finance assistant in his or her absence. This position reports directly to the Senior Accountant.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Finance Intern will work with the finance team to provide support in the following task areas:

    • Filing of finance documentation according to the filing system and retrieval when need be.
    • Support in the VAT exemption and reimbursement process.
    • Assist in maintenance and updating of finance trackers.
    • Assist the Finance Manager with conducting review and spot-checks of finance vouchers.
    • Assist with ensuring statutory remittances are receipted and updated.
    • Participate in regular project management meeting
    • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

    REPORTING: The Finance Intern will report to the Senior Accountant.

    • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or any other relevant degree

    Activity Intern - USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI)

    ROLE’S PURPOSE:

    • The Activity Intern is a short-term position which will be responsible for providing surge capacity to support the East Africa Activity Team in their management of multi-year buy-in activities. Responsibilities include providing technical and management support to buy-in activities, working with the technical and functional teams in developing and closing grants pipeline; and managing implementation of grants and subcontracts.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Activity Intern will work with the Activity team to provide support in the following task areas:

    • Support Activity Team and others on all matters related to the buy-in, including but not limited to contractual, operational, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL), reporting, and financial matters.
    • Provide administrative, procurement, and operational support across all assigned buy-in activities; ensure buy-in activities are managed in accordance with USAID regulations and DAI Procurement policies.
    • Liaise with implementing parties to ensure proper M&E data capture and data quality to contribute to overall ATI project M&E reporting and upload the MEL data into MEL database/system.
    • Support the development and review of calls for applications/proposals and all related solicitation documentation; work with the Technical team to integrate technical guidance and requirements.
    • Assist the grants and procurement teams in grant selection committees and technical evaluation committees with recording committee member evaluations and feedback.
    • Assist the grants and procurement teams in carrying out pre-award responsibility determination of prospective grantees.
    • Assist in review of grant and subcontract invoices and grant financial reports for accuracy and eligibility and upload in the system for reviews and approvals.
    • Participate in regular project management meeting
    • Carry out any other tasks as requested by the Activity Manager.

    REPORTING: The Activity Intern will report to the Activity Manager.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelors degree in business administration, finance/accounting, procurement, supply chain management, or any other relevant degree
    • Have graduated not earlier than the year 2021
    • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Proven research skills with an aptitude for clear and succinct report writing

    Regional MAGIC Trade Show Consultant - USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI)

    Position Overview and Objectives

    • The Regional MAGIC Trade Show Consultant will provide support to recruit, screen, prepare firms to exhibit in-person at the Sourcing at Magic (MAGIC) Show and follow-up on post show activities and reporting in collaboration with ATI as follows:
    • The Consultant will support and coordinate with ATI and Kenya and East Africa Regional Mission to identify, screen and select export ready and near export ready firms, prepare selected firms to exhibit in-person in advance oft MAGIC February 2024 trade show and follow-up with firms post the show.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Regional Magic Trade Show Consultant will be required to:

    • Identify Kenya and East African textile, Apparel, home textile and leather goods firms that are Export Ready and Near Export Ready.
    • Raise awareness of the MAGIC Show opportunity with export firms and trade associations
    • Assist firms to complete the MAGIC show application form.
    • Collect and coordinate submission of relevant information from exhibitor firms including logos, contact information, addresses, profiles, and photos for Africa Pavilion Look Book.
    • Ensure individual Deal Notes are signed and submitted to ATI in a timely manner.
    • Facilitate visa letter requests.
    • Coordinate the payment of co-contributions from the export firms.
    • In collaboration with the ATI Trade and activity teams provide overall support to exhibitor firms from the region.
    • Coordinate the participation of firms in preparatory webinars.
    • In collaboration with ATI, follow up with firms post the Trade show on generated pipelines.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in textile technology, business, economics, or related field.
    • 10 years progressively responsible work experience in the apparel, textile, home textile and/or leather products sector including some years in promotion and sourcing function.
    • Senior level experience with Kenya and East Africa textile, Apparel, home textile and leather goods firms, managing trade promotion, export sales, supply chain, merchandising, production, or logistics.
    • Able to write reports and presentations using MS Office Suite applications.
    • Fluency in spoken and written English.

    Desirable

    • Post graduate degree or professional qualification in business administration, management, merchandizing, fashion design, economics or another relevant field.
    • International work experience, particularly in Kenya and East Africa countries.
    • Training and public speaking experience.
    • Relevant specialized experience in specific textile, apparel, or footwear products.
    • Fluency in Spoken and written French.
