    Human Resources Officer

    Job Summary

    The jobholder will be responsible for supporting effective implementation of various HR initiatives and activities such as recruitment, selection, on-boarding, training, performance management, vendor management, reporting and administration in order to create a conducive work environment for the achievement of the organization’s goals.
     
    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Staffing:
      • Working with the Group head of talent, this includes preparing job adverts, shortlisting, interviewing, selecting candidates and further preparation of contract for both permanent and term contract employees
      • Coordinating recruitment to ensure the farm and packhouse always has sufficient labour and skilled technicians.
      • Responsible for employee on-boarding in liaison with the hiring department
    • Industrial relations and compliance
      • Provide consistent policy based advise to line management and workers
      • Dealing with employee grievances and implementing the disciplinary procedures as per the Green Blade HR policies in liaison with the Group HR Business Partner
      • Investigation of staff cases and or claims
      • Coordinate disciplinary procedures
      • Ensuring that all staff are fully aware of the GB HR policies and procedures
      • Ensuring that GB HR practices are compliant with all relevant legislation as well as certification requirements
      • Implementing the GB HR policies and procedures
    • Performance management:
      • Assisting managers and team leaders to develop work targets and piece rates
      • Ensuring that all departments maintain accurate record of worker performance
      • Coordinate performance appraisals  in liaison with the Group HR Business Partner.
    • Learning and development
      • Conducting refresher training for existing staff in areas covered in the HR Manual, Standard Operating procedures etc
      • Coordinating training and other capacity strengthening activities like exposure visits, coaching, team building etc
      • Coordinating of training activities in conjunction with Group Head of Talent
    • HR Administration:
      • Ensuring complete employee records (attendance, leave schedules, contracts) are maintained according to policy and legal requirements.
      • In liaison with the Centum Group HR assist in the processing of warning letters, short term contracts, certificate of service and other internal correspondences
      • Receiving and dispatching of documents
      • Assist in processing any HR related claims such as WIBA etc
    • Employee health and safety and welfare
      • Ensure compliance to the GB Health and safety policies
      • Coordinate health and safety activities such as meetings, training, audits etc
      • As a member of the health and safety committee, attending the meetings and taking minutes and ensure circulation of the same
      • As a member of the employee welfare committee, attending the meetings and taking minutes and ensure circulation of the same
      • Coordinating and participating in any other audits as may be required
    • Monitoring overtime on a daily and weekly basis and advising the line managers
      • Ensure all statutory deductions and payments are made on time and accurately
      • Assisting in compiling payroll and all other staff payments
      • Time and attendance and payroll compilation(employees attendance management, payroll attendance inputs and any other payroll inputs)
    • Daily, Weekly and monthly HR Reports eg Head count, accidents, disciplinary cases, turn over
    • Vendor management
      • Support in managing key relationships with HR vendors including ensuring validity of contracts, assessment and monitoring effectiveness of services rendered and prompt invoicing and payments.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR management OR Social Sciences.
    • Member of Institute of HR Management
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an Agribusiness environment.

    Commercial Manager

    Job Brief

    Greenblade Growers a subsidiary of Centum seeks to recruit a Commercial Manager for its Tumaini Operations in Ol Kalou

    Job Purpose

    The key purpose of this role is to develop the market for Green Blade and ensure that sales orders meet or exceed the budget. The incumbent will be responsible for seeking new markets and customers so as to drive business growth as per the business plan. Another important deliverable includes collection of all sales receivables from customers as per contract. The job holder will also manage the customer relationships

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the search for new export and domestic markets for herbs, vegetables and other products produced by Green Blade in its farms and out growers schemes.
    • Lead Green Blade teams in the development of products & services which meet customer expectations and are commercially viable
    • Identify and manage the most effective and cost-efficient suppliers of goods and services needed to supply customer orders including packaging, transport, clearing & forwarding, freight etc
    • Coordinate the sales processes and ensure efficient collection of revenue
    • Manage Green Blade compliance to legal requirements, market standards and certification
    • Oversee communication and relationships with key customers.
    • Ensure customer demand profiles are cascaded through to the planning teams .
    • Oversee signing of and adherence to commercial contracts entered where required.
    • Support the reporting process through provision of budgets, forecasts with the supporting insights behind changes as and when required by all stakeholders.
    • Ensure that the commercial service levels with the customer are maintained.
    • Facilitate customer visits as necessary
    • Support business development processes
    • Aggressively market any spare volumes on daily basis to make sure there is sell out and avoid loss of value through discards/rejects.
    • Day to day order management in liaison with General Manager to ensure customer orders are fulfilled as confirmed.

    Minimum qualifications

    • A Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar work environment/ Agri-business 
    • A degree in horticulture or a relevant course in business
    • Commercial awareness and sound business knowledge
    • Entrepreneurial orientation
    • Customer oriented mentality
    • Excellent communication skills, problem solver with strong attention to detail
    • Team player with ability to work effectively 

    Track Record

    Ideal candidate should:

    • Have served in a similar role and achieved a monthly sales target of at least Kshs 30 Million;
    • Have a wide range of export customer networks and relationships.

    Accountants

    Job Brief

    Greenblade Growers a subsidiary of Centum seeks to recruit Accountants for its Tumaini Operations in Ol Kalau.

    Job Purpose

    Primarily responsible for all Greenblade accounting including cost tracking, reporting and provides day to day accounting to support project delivery.

    Main responsibilities

    • Pre-construction development pipelines project accounting
      • Coordinate with the Greenblade team to track and report projected cash needs for all
      • projects in the development pipeline on a bi- weekly basis
      • Track project cost, process invoices and prepare entries to appropriately reflect all development
      • project costs and activities from inception through to construction
      • Generate monthly project reports, assist sales and project management team with production of
      • monthly revenues including reporting on project variances of actuals vs budget and updating
      • forecasts
      • Create data room and provide financial due diligence materials / documents
    • Project cost tracking and accounts payable processing
      • Review project invoices for processing and payment
      • Prepare and enter project related entries to accurately account for all projects costs
      • Manage the monthly construction draw down process with the project team
      • Track assigned project budgets and lead monthly budget meetings to identify and discuss any cost / budget issues
      • Prepare routine or regular papers for development projects to facilitate filing of tax returns
      • Reconcile project budget with actuals and prepare project update report
      • Responsible for bank deposits and payments including bank and loan account reconciliations
      • Responsible for accounts payable, account receivable matching, data entry and reconciling accounts.
    • Budgets
      • Prepare, analyse, monitor and report project financial information including budgets, expenditure, forecasts, cost control and cash flows
      •  Assist the development and construction teams in preparation and update of budgets and forecasts including detailed and challenge of the numbers.
      •  Track all project costs and budget including processing of all related invoices and lead monthly budget meetings to identify and discuss any cost / budget issues
      • Coordinate with the project team and group finance team to reconcile project budgets against funding line / financing source
      • Identify and report on expenditure, budget and income variations as well as implementing monitoring processes to provide for effective project management and deliver
    • Other duties
      • Organization of physical accounting files, maintain project related records including insurance, contracts and LPO’s
      • Ensure financial management tools and information systems are up to date and reconciled between themselves
      • Perform own administrative duties
    • Communication and coordination activities
      • Establish strong relationships with Greenblade teams by fully understanding the status and issues around the project and proactively assist the teams as required
      • Maintain a pleasant friendly attitude among Greenblade staff members so that a positive working environment exists.
      • Review project reports and is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy prior to formal submission for approval
      • Organize, attend project review meetings during weekly, monthly and quarterly review and sufficiently challenge the forecasts to ensure accuracy
      • Liaise and collaborate with Group finance team including keeping the team aware of the status of projects, cash flow forecasts, due payments, financial reporting, filing tax returns among others
      • Undertake any further duties that may reasonably be required
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
    • Ensure timely and appropriate reporting to the General Manager

    Minimum qualifications

    • Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business Administration or an equivalent.
    • CPA(K) or equivalent is a must.
    • Expertise in financial operations, accounting controls, working capital management, financial statement reporting and analysis, regulatory compliance, tax management and budgeting.
    • Up-to-date applied knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and tax regulations.
    • Experience of having worked as a Senior accountant in a large organization.
    • Experience in Project Management will be an added advantage
    • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
    • Proficiency in IT- SAP Experience is mandatory
    • Excellent communication skills, problem solver with strong attention to detail
    • Team player with ability to work effectively and make decisions independently
    • Commercial awareness and sound business knowledge
