    Business Development Manager – Group Life Sales

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Head of Group Life Sales, the role will provide strategic leadership and drive profitable growth of the Group Life business through effective execution of the corporate sales strategy, acquisition and retention of key corporate accounts, development of strong intermediary and strategic partnerships, and expansion into new market segments. The role is accountable for delivering sales and revenue targets, growing market share, strengthening the business pipeline, and working closely with Underwriting and other key functions to ensure sustainable and profitable portfolio growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sales Strategy & Business Growth

    • Develop and execute the Group Life corporate sales strategy in line with the Company’s overall business objectives.
    • Deliver annual new business and profitability targets.

    Corporate Client & Intermediary Management

    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key corporate clients, brokers, agents and other distribution partners.
    • Strengthen the Company’s market presence and positioning within the Group Life segment.

    New Business Acquisition

    • Lead prospecting and acquisition of profitable Group Life schemes.
    • Coordinate preparation of competitive proposals, tenders and presentations for major prospects.

    Renewal & Portfolio Retention

    • Drive retention of profitable corporate accounts through proactive renewal management and client engagement.
    • Work with Underwriting and other stakeholders to develop appropriate retention strategies for key schemes.

    Commercial & Portfolio Management

    • Monitor sales performance by product, intermediary, sector and distribution channel.
    • Balance premium growth with portfolio quality and profitability.

    Sales Leadership & Performance Management

    • Lead, coach and develop the Corporate Sales team to deliver agreed business objectives.
    • Build a high-performance, accountable and customer-focused sales culture.

    Executive Reporting & Business Planning

    • Develop sales forecasts and provide visibility of expected business performance.
    • Present strategic recommendations to Management on growth opportunities, distribution strategy and market positioning.

    Governance & Compliance

    • Ensure all sales activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, Company policies and approved underwriting guidelines.
    • Promote ethical selling and appropriate customer outcomes.

    Who We’re Looking For

    Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience Required:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics or a related field.
    • Progress towards a professional certification (AIIK/ACII/FLMI/CIM is desirable
    • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in insurance sales, business development, corporate relationship management or employee benefits, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role.
    • Demonstrable track record in delivering corporate sales targets and driving sustainable business growth.
    • Strong knowledge of Group Life insurance products, corporate insurance solutions and distribution channels.

    Senior Pension Administrator

    About the Role

    Reporting to Assistant Manager Client Relations, the purpose of the role will be to handle administration on retirement benefits schemes within CIC Life Retirement Benefits Department as per the regulator and stakeholders’ requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintaining a high standard of customer service through timely and quality response to all clients’ requests and needs.
    • Providing superior services to retirement benefits to forge strong business relationships and Ensuring the fund is managed and administered in full compliance with existing legislation.
    • Processing and sending payments, member statements, preparing accounts and other benefits within the set standards for Defined Contributions Scheme, Defined Benefits Scheme and Hybrid Schemes.
    • Conserving the business by offering alternative products, cross selling and follow-up leads for new business.
    • Maintaining accurate records for retirement benefits.
    • Filing of Quarterly Return of Contributions with Retirement Benefits Authority every quarter.
    • Marketing organizations products.
    • Preparing summary reports of the retirement benefits business when required and on a timely basis.
    • Attend Board of Trustees meeting as the administrator and take minutes when required and generally advise the Trustees
    • Attend the Annual General Meeting of the members and present the Fund Administrators Reports.
    • Ensure Compliance with Retirement Benefits Authority and KRA on various pension schemes, including licensing by RBA.
    • Guide new schemes in the registration process with RBA & KRA.
    • Processing pensioner’s payroll, preparing life certificates and P9 forms.
    • Assist in drafting of the Trust Deed & Rules/ Deed of Adherence/ Service Level and updating from time to time.
    • Member education to Trustees and members and preparing quality reports for AGM and Quarterly Trustee Meetings.

    Who We’re Looking For

    Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience Required:

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance, Actuarial, Statistics/Mathematics
    • Minimum of Five (5) years’ relevant experience, Minimum of 2 Years work experience in a similar role
    • Progress towards a professional certification (AIIK/FSRI/ACII)

    Business Acquisition Specialist

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Underwriting Manager, the role will support the acquisition and onboarding of Group Life business by preparing accurate quotations in line with approved pricing requirements, completing KYC/AML checks, setting up scheme records and ensuring complete handover to the Underwriting Manager.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Receive and review quotation requests to confirm that the required member data, benefits and supporting information have been provided.
    • Prepare Group Life quotations accurately and within the agreed turnaround times.
    • Ensure quotations comply with approved products, rates, pricing tools, underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
    • Verify quotation calculations, benefits, commissions, taxes and other applicable charges before release.
    • Escalate non-standard benefits, pricing exceptions and complex risks to the relevant underwriter or manager.
    • Register and track quotation requests, revisions, outcomes and conversion status.
    • Review onboarding documents, including accepted quotations, proposal forms, member schedules, premium evidence and intermediary documents.
    • Perform KYC, AML and sanctions screening and escalate incomplete or adverse findings.
    • Follow up on outstanding onboarding requirements before the scheme is handed over for underwriting.
    • Create the scheme folder in SharePoint and upload all required documents using the approved naming and filing standards.
    • Prepare a complete onboarding pack and hand over the scheme to the Underwriting Manager for allocation.
    • Prepare reports on quotations, turnaround times, conversion rates, production, acquisition pipeline, onboarding status and KYC/AML compliance.
    • Maintain accurate records of pending quotations, incomplete onboarding requirements and ageing items.
    • Support process improvement, quotation automation and enhancement of acquisition and onboarding controls.
    • Ensure confidentiality of member, salary, pricing and other sensitive information.

    Who We’re Looking For

    Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience Required:

    • Degree in actuarial Science, BCOM Insurance, Statistics or a business related degree
    • Progress in Diploma in Insurance
    • 4 years’ relevant work experience in Group Life Underwriting or similar role
    • Good knowledge of group underwriting
    • Analytical skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Technology oriented with interest in emerging technologies like AI and ML
