    Assistant Librarian

    JOB OBJECTIVE

    Provide Library administrative, clerical and technical support, including information and reference service, reader’s advisory, cataloguing, circulation services, security of library resources and patrons and facilitate access to library for authorized users only

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist the Librarian in managing resources such as books, journals, website information and users enquires
    • Circulation of Library resources to authorized library users as well as maintaining circulation files, records and statistics.
    • Delivering information and learning skills courses for students and staff.
    • Ensure only authorized items leave the library (checking to ensure that overdue items/books do not go out of the library
    • Ensure unauthorized items such as big bags, food stuffs are not brought into the library
    • Ensure the library surrounding (environment) is conducive for learning i.e. free from noise, loud music
    • Inform the Head of Library Services in cases of emergency, irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences
    • Assist in enforcement of library regulations
    • Assist in the movement of library books and other library resources across floors or as directed by the Head of Library Services
    • Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelors degree in Library and Information Science or; Diploma in Library and Information Science with 2 years’ relevant experience
    • Knowledge of Library operations.
    • Basic knowledge in security matters in Library
    • ICT skills
    • People skills.

    Quality Assurance Officer

    JOB OBJECTIVE

    Implement University’s policies, procedures and processes for quality assurance and enhance quality professional services to students, staff, and external stakeholders.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collect data and generate reports for monitoring performance of teaching and learning process in the University.
    • Collect data and generate reports on student feedback to facilitate enhanced teaching and learning performance.
    • Meet quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; repairing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
    • Participate and collaborate with other University units to develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures in the University.
    • Support the Schools and campuses quality assurance representatives assure quality in delivery of services, teaching, and learning, and supporting infrastructure and resources.
    • Monitor performance of the quality management system
    • Produce data and reports on performance of the University quality management system.
    • Disseminate the requirements of the accrediting commissions on new degree proposals.
    • Conduct regular audits and evaluations of service delivery to identify areas of improvement and ensure compliance with university standards.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Education, Operations management, or a related field
    • A Master’s degree in Statistics, Education, Operations management, or a related field is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in service delivery, quality management, or quality assurance, preferably in a higher education setting
    • Good communication skills and experience in report writing

    Lecturer in Actuarial Science

    JOB OBJECTIVE

    To facilitate quality learning through teaching, administration and academic advisory work and ensure an outstanding student learning experience.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate
    • levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and other learning situations as assigned by the CoD from time to time.
    • Participate in the development, administration and marking of exams, assignments and continuous assessments tests.
    • Assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, Achievement and attendance.
    • Provide advice, guidance and feedback to students to support their academic progress and referring student to support services as appropriate.
    • Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of high quality curriculum.
    • Participate in supervision and assisting of undergraduate and post graduate students in their research work.
    • Carry out research and produce publications, as well as other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed in the Faculty Annual Assessment Review (FAAR)
    • Participate in writing of research proposals and applying of research grants.
    • Contribute and participate in the development in the departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
    • Develop and apply innovative and appropriate learning techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students;
    • Contribute to departmental, faculty and/or University wide working groups or committee as, when requested to do so;
    • Undertake continuous professional development and participate in staff development and training activities to update and enhance skills;
    • Maintain proper records of students’ examination, assignments and continuous assessments tests and ensure they are keyed in examination records management system in time;
    • Attend departmental, Faculty and University-wide meetings with other staff members;

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • PhD Degree in Actuarial Science or relevant field from an accredited and recognized university
    • At least 5 years’ teaching experience at University level
    • Should have published at least 2 peer reviewed articles in distinguished academic journals
