    Background Information

    The Research Care and Training Program (RCTP) is collaboration between the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and University of Washington (UW).

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Develop an in–depth understanding of study design and goals, and ensure that the study is conducted in compliance with study protocols and other regulatory requirements.
    2. Identify and Mobilize eligible participants for the interviews
    3. Assist in transcription and translation of the collected data
    4. Provide regular progress reports to the study coordinators
    5. Work closely with the study coordinators to prepare weekly interview schedules
    6. Ensure the smooth and efficient day–to–day operation of research and data collection activities
    7. Participate in regular research team meetings
    8. Respond to questions about the study posed by participants and any other relevant persons

    Required Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social sciences,
    2. Knowledge in family planning services will be an added advantage
    3. Knowledge in community entry strategies
    4. Knowledge in interviewing adolescent girls and young women on reproductive issues
    5. Other Required SkillsCommitment to integrity and high quality performance
    6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both English and Swahili
    7. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
    8. Keen and attentive to detail
    9. Ability to follow instructions and procedures
    10. Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
    11. Flexibility to travel and interview participants in time and place of their convenience

    Site Lead Research Assistant

    Site Lead Research Assistant.Reports to: Assistant Coordinator

    Duration: 1 Year Renewable Contract as per KEMRI Scheme of Service. The first 3 months is a probation period

    Background Information:

    The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), in collaboration with the Washington University in St. Louis (Wash U) is currently conducting research projects that include the ADAPT–I (Adaptive Strategy for Preventing and Treating Lapses of Retention in Adult HIV Care (ADAPT–R) Study and ADAPT–R–II. The ADAPT studies utilise the novel

    1. sequential multiple assignment randomized trial (SMART) approach to assess the effectiveness and cost efficiency of a family of sequential strategies to prevent initial lapses in HIV retention and to treat those that occur.
    2. We have the below vacancy in ADAPT (Adaptive Strategy for Preventing and Treating Lapses of Retention in Adult HIV Care (AdaPT–R) Study

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Oversight and study management at the site
    2. Conduct participant recruitment, screening, informed consent, and randomization/re– randomization
    3. Data collection, data entry, documentation, and organization per the study protocol and standard operating procedures
    4. Site stock management
    5. Send daily site reports
    6. Communicate regularly with the Study Coordinators and other study staff and will respond to data and study queries with information and reports as required
    7. Assist caregivers and adolescents with disclosure support
    8. Maintain study registers, logs, and files and make sure all study documents are kept secure and locked
    9. Write reports and participate in study meetings as require

    Required Qualifications and experience

    • Diploma in Community Health, Social Work & Community Development or any other related Diploma in Social Sciences with C plain and above in O level
    • At least two years of research assistant experience
    • Other Required Skills
    • Motorcycle riding will be an added advantage

    Administrative Officer

    Program description

    The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), in Collaboration with the University of Washington, Seattle is conducting research in Azithromycin Enterics. The study is aimed at assessing the role of enteric pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in driving clinical and nutritional deterioration, and azithromycin’s potential effect, among children discharged from hospital in Kenya. The study is looking for a self–motivated and proactive individual to fill the following vacancy at KEMRI–CGHR

    Job Description

    The administrative officer will report to the Study Site–Principal investigator and will be responsible for conducting administrative and support financial management duties as described below:

    Requirements

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
    2. Proficiency in computer applications
    3. Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Prepare budgets and ensure all expenses are within the approved budget
    • Facilitate the procurement of goods and services through the ERP system
    • Keeping records of study supplies and assets, monitoring equipment maintenance and service contracts
    • Prepare invoices and submit to donors as appropriate
    • Prepare project bill and present them to the relevant office for payment e.g. Telephones bills, courier services and taxis among others.
    • Review project staff payroll including benefits on monthly basis
    • Coordinate trainings and study related travels
    • Identifying and processing procurement of venues for project meetings
