    Senior Assistant Placement Coordination/Career Services Officer

    KUCCPS 7. (Ref. Code KUCCPS 041/20)

    Reporting to the Manager, Placement Coordination/Career Services the Officer will be responsible for administration and provision of information on Placement Coordination and Career Services at the following Huduma Centres: Trans Nzoia, Narok, Isiolo, Laikipia, Kiambu – Thika Centre.

    Successful applicants will be hired on a two-year contract renewable on mutual agreement and subject to meeting set performance targets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Respond to queries about the services offered by the Placement Service;
    • Assist in guiding students on the application processes;
    • Receive Inter-Institution Transfers applications;
    • Assist in collecting data of registered eligible institutions and their programmes for placement;
    • Receiving and compiling returns and the declared capacities for universities and colleges programmes;
    • Assist in sensitising students on the relationship between career paths, programmes offered in universities and colleges, and subjects undertaken in schools;
    •  Assist in collecting data for research, and for designing the mechanism and work plans for the provision of career guidance and counselling services;
    • Collect feedback from stakeholders on matters of placement and career development; and
    •  Undertake any such additional duties that are reasonably commensurate with the level of this post.

    Minimum Requirement

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:-

    • Have attained a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:- Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Studies or Development Studies or other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution;
    • Be proficient in computer applications; and
    • Having experience in relevant work in the Public Service or Private Sector will be an added advantage;
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity. Applicants should have clearance certificates from the following bodies:
      • Kenya Revenue Authority;
      • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
      • Higher Educations Loans Board;
    • A licensed Credit Reference Bureau;
    • Directorate of Criminal Investigations
    • Applicants must indicate their home county, current county of residence and their preferred Huduma Centre. Preference will be given to applicants domiciled in the county where the preferred Huduma Centre is situated.

    Applicants should have clearance certificates from the following bodies:

    Responsible to the CEO for the overall management and administration of the Placement Strategy, Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Compliance Directorate.

    Successful applicant will be hired on a five-year contract terms renewable on mutual agreement and subject to meeting set performance targets

    Key Responsibilities

    • Overseeing the efficient coordination of the Strategy and Planning, Quality Assurance, Risk and Compliance departments;
    • Establishing and maintaining linkages with Consultants and other Stakeholders on Strategy, Planning Quality Assurance, Risk and Compliance matters;
    • Reviewing potential business proposals and concept papers for funding;
    • Coordinating the development and implementation of resource mobilization strategies;
    • Overseeing formulation and implementation of the Placement Service’s Strategy and planning, Quality Assurance and Risk and Compliance policies, strategies, procedures and systems;
    • Overseeing Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes, stakeholders relationships and integrity assurance programmes;
    • Overseeing technical audits for works and services, including preparation of reports on quality assurance findings and recommendations;
    • Coordinating the preparation of risk assessment and classification system/criteria;
    • Overseeing identification of priority areas for risk assessment and mitigation planning, including risk assessment process, compilation and consolidation of risk management periodic reports;
    • Coordinating the evaluation of the Placement Service’s business processes;
    • Overseeing the smooth implementation and monitoring of the Placement Service’s quality management system(ISO); and
    • Overseeing the preparation of annual work programmes and budgets for Placement Service planning and development.

    Minimum Requirement

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must:

    • Have a minimum period twelve (12) years relevant work experience and at least five (5) years in a management position in the Public Service or in the Private Sector;
    • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:- Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Have a Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Have professional qualification and membership to a relevant professional body;
    • Leadership Course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution; and

    • Coordinating the development of policies and procedures;
    • Coordinating, reviewing and updating criteria for placement of government sponsored students;
    • Coordinating provision of the updated criteria for placement of government sponsored students to universities and colleges;
    • Coordinating the maintenance of an updated data base with students’ data from KNEC;
    • Coordinating registration of eligible institutions and their programmes for placement;
    • Coordinating the receipt, validation and updating of the declared capacities for universities and colleges programmes;
    • Coordinating the guidance of students on application processes;
    • Coordinating the receiving of data on students’ application to universities and colleges;
    • Coordinating the Processing of Placement of students to Universities and Colleges;
    • Coordinating the processing of Inter Institution Transfers;
    • Coordinating the maintenance an updated database of placement returns from Universities and Colleges;
    • Coordinating the provision of a platform for stakeholder engagement and consultations on matters of placement;
    • Coordinating development of policies and procedures;
    • Coordinating development, reviewing and updating of programmes for career development;
    • Coordinating the implementation of approved policies, strategies and programmes for career development;
    • Coordinating sensitization of students on the relationship between career paths, programmes offered at universities and colleges, and subjects undertaken in schools;
    • Coordinating the provision of career guidance and counseling services to teachers, parents and other stakeholders; and
    • Coordinating the development of specifications for use of information Communications Technology in career development.

    Minimum Requirement

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must:

    • Have a minimum period twelve (12) years relevant work experience and at least five (5) years in a management position in the Public Service or in the Private Sector;
    • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:- Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Studies or Development Studies or other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
