    Business Development Officer - Stanbic Insurance Agency Limited

    Job Purpose

    • To support Stanbic Insurance Agency Limited - SIAL in achieving goals, income and profit budgets by way of managing the behaviour of staff and relationships Vehicle & Asset Finance (VAF) teams across Stanbic bank.
    • To ensure on-going and successful sales and distribution of Insurance including renewals and Bancassurance products through the branch network (branch including business staff, and Vehicle & Asset Finance)
    • To implement sales plans/actions and identify sales opportunities.
    • To ensure all compliance issues are dealt with and compliance targets are met.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Sales management
      • Oversees the sales performance across Vehicle & Asset Finance (VAF) and achieve 90% New to Bank, 90% renewals and 60% on Assets financed but not insured with Stanbic Insurance Agency Limited (SIAL)
      • Clearly understands sales targets set and influences and drives the achievement of SIAL sales targets within Vehicle & Asset Finance (VAF)
      • Ensures that SIAL cross-selling takes place in new and existing business, within Vehicle & Asset Finance (VAF)
      • Markets and provides information on the full range of products to customers to optimise cross-sell.
      • Identifies gaps/anomalies and develops ideas to rectify and improve performance.
      • Assists in the development and repositioning on new product initiatives.
      • Provides timeous feedback to the stakeholders teams on queries/complaints and sales statistics.
      • Analyses MIS to understand where the sales gaps, are within VAF and the different channels.
      • Advises and shares best practices, tactics and actions plans with VAF consultants and Business Development teams to close sales gaps.
      • Handles basic activities/queries that fall within the policy terms and understands impact of actions on other areas of the business (claims/underwriting/sales). Differentiates between product features and benefits based on customer needs.
    • Office administration
      • Completes all administration requirements timeously, e.g. weekly Vehicle & Asset Finance (VAF) penetration report ,renewals reports, activity sheets and discusses this daily with the Business Development and during the weekly sales meeting.

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    Relevant degree from a recognised University

    Experience

    • 2-5 years’ Sales experience
    • Proven Sales track record.
    • Experience in performing elementary functions on computer systems (most often used)

    • Monitors and responds to changes in the environment to ensure that customer’s needs are met.
    • Decisions must be made within policies, but the jobholder can propose changes to the process.

    Institutional Sales Trader

    Our international team provides trading, sales, structuring and risk management solutions for our clients across global financial markets. This includes FX, commodities, equity, credit, fixed income and debt instruments. We also offer market insight, trading services, analytics and new financial products across a number of asset classes.

    Job Purpose

    • To ensure growth in company revenue by providing responsive, pro-active, proficient and efficient services to existing and potential clients in order to grow market share and retain existing business.
    • To alert clients to wealth creation opportunities offered by the stock exchange.
    • To develop, maintain and build strong long-standing relationships with existing and potential clients with a bias towards institutional and high net worth clients.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Source for equity trades from both local and foreign institutions.
    • Carry out KYC on new clients to establish client’s investments needs so as to help them make efficient investment decisions suitable to their profiles.
    • Meet agreed on sales targets.
    • Build relationships, earn trust and buy in from customers in order to get repeat and referral business and promote customer retention.
    • Understand the overall sales strategy of the company and drive business towards achieving this purpose.
    • Proactively understand the clients’ strategic direction and long-term needs as well as the opportunities and threats to the client.
    • Develop and nurture strategic relationships with the clients to ensure that the strategy and business/personal objectives of the client and the company are achieved.

    • Be part of the team involved in formulating sales and marketing strategies and campaigns especially those targeting potential investors.
    • Source for Credible industry/Companies ‘soft information’ (Stock Market Gossip) and relay the same to Institutional investors.
    • Manage your clients’ portfolio and advice them accordingly on any buy or sell decisions.
    • Carry out and ensure that clients have met the KYC documentation requirements for the company.
    • Ensure that all buy and sell orders originating from clients to the dealing team have proper approvals and complete documentation.
    • Assist with maintaining commercial paper programmes, renewing, ordering certificates and cheque forwarding as assigned.
    • Educate clients on the existing company policies and procedures as well as basic introduction to the stock market and how it operates.
    • Be part of the team called on to give presentations to potential clients on the company as well as the stock market.
    • Ensure that integrity and honesty is maintained at all times in all client dealings.

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    • Business related Bachelors degree
    • 2 years experience within stock exchange/investment banking environment

    • ATS Certification
    • Working knowlege of the MS office packages

    Equities Research Analyst

    Job Purpose

    • The main purpose of the equity analyst function is to advise institutional investors on the investment and divestment opportunities. A successful execution of the job steers client trade and a commission stream via the dealing platform of the broker. This advisory function is fulfilled through regular publication of investment ideas, company and sector updates, marketing of ideas and the organisation of conferences and other corporate access activities. In addition, we anticipate that an analyst builds a network of executive contacts and, within the global regulatory framework, generates observations and ideas that may assist the primary capital teams of the bank.
    • Responsible for about 8-10 stocks under coverage in individual analyst capacity
    • Build effective but objective relationships with company management teams.
    • Market views externally and internally, servicing approximately 10 Kenyan and around 40 key international accounts.
    • Corporate Access is a key element of the job, which requires a proactive approach in providing opportunities for institutional clients to access corporates, regulators and other key stakeholders via conferences hosted by
    • Standard Bank, conference audio/video calls, reverse roadshows and non-deal roadshows.
    • On an ad-hoc basis, support ECM via investor educational research & input into idea generation corporate-finance requirements
    • Represent house views on sector trends and developments in the media.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Enhance the Pan African financials franchise, working with the lead financials analyst in East Africa, and with the wider Financials team within the franchise
    • Facilitate the monetisation of the sectors under coverage
    • Liaise with several stakeholders to optimise the impact of research.
    • Assist in developing commercial and differentiated team product
    • Assist in organising conferences and corporate access calendars.
    • Initiate coverage of relevant and commercial number of stocks in the allocated sectors.
    • Write insightful and impactful research that results in a product suite that encompasses sector and company notes, thematic and periodical publications, commentary on news flow and the impact on share valuations.
    • Market the investment ideas to domestic and offshore based global investors. Marketing consists of roadshows, conference calls, tele-marketing, etc.
    • Provide corporate access to link executives of corporations and other decision- and opinion-makers to investment managers. Corporate access can consist of conference calls, exclusive small-scale management meetings, conference organisation, investor tour organisation, reverse roadshows (offshore investors visiting region) and non-deal roadshows (NDRs e.g. whereby the bank organises an investor roadshow for management). Such activity benefits the analyst franchise and showcases the “execution abilities” of the bank.
    • Complete and respond to bespoke and ad-hoc client requests.
    • Inform and work with Sales & Trading, within the compliance framework, to optimise the marketing and execution of investment ideas.
    • Pass interesting and commercial ideas within compliance framework to counterparts in CIB for instance in ECM, DCM, M&A and broader corporate finance functions. These ideas can include but are not confined to capital raising, debt restructuring, buy-backs, mergers, consolidation and other deal ideas, balance sheet restructuring, forex solutions, structured solutions, etc.

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree is the minimum qualification but additional qualifications for this role can be varied but tends to include any of the following; MBA, Masters in Finance or Economics. Chartered Accountancy, Honours degrees, and CFA charter holders. MBAs and CFA charter holders preferred.

    Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

    • At least two years of Equity Analyst experience, or relevant experience in Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Accountancy, or any other relevant field.
    • Regional or global experience in broking would be a benefit
