    Project Manager (Digital Programming)

    Role Purpose: 

    The role of Project Manager sits within the Digital Programming team at Save the Children International, which is responsible for leading the digital transformation of our work with children. This forms a central pillar of our strategy to deliver a greater impact to far more children in the 120 countries in which we work. The Digital Programming team is putting in place the processes, platforms, tools and resources that enable Save the Children staff to design, deliver and scale safe, high quality digital programmes. 

    The Project Manager is responsible for implementing a suite of tools that local teams will depend on for the effective delivery of a wide range of digital programmes across different thematic areas (including health, education and child protection). The initial focus will be on delivering messaging platforms that can support a number of use cases like bite-sized learning, social behaviour change communications and feedback.  

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

    Essential  

    • Extensive track record of successfully managing a programme or project in software development and implementation.  
    • Proven experience of using and leading change management activities including change impact assessment, stakeholder management, managing resistance, building change capacity, designing and defining roles and responsibilities. 
    • Proficient demonstrable skills in managing and reporting complex projects within a Portfolio Office/PMO structure 
    • Proven ability to deliver projects on time / on budget, using project management processes and tools including risk management, benefits management, financial management and quality assurance  
    • Comprehensive management and influencing skills with experience of working with senior level executives 
    • Ability to resolve issues swiftly and decisively whilst safeguarding standards and procedures 
    • Strong team leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and mobilise individuals outside their reporting line 
    • Excellent communication skills (written & oral English), including the ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organisation 
    • Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally 

    Desirable  

    • Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic) 
    • Non-profit sector knowledge/experience

    Head of Digital Solutions

    Role Purpose:

    The Head of Digital Solutions sits within the Digital Programming team at Save the Children International, which is responsible for leading the digital transformation of our work with children. This forms a central pillar of our strategy to deliver a greater impact to far more children in the 120 countries in which we work. The Digital Programming team is putting in place the processes, platforms, tools and resources that enable Save the Children staff to design, deliver and scale safe, high quality digital programmes.

    The Head of Digital Solutions is responsible for identifying 3rd party solutions to specific strategic challenges and ensuring that we partner effectively to bring these to scale. An example might be introducing a clinical decision support tool for frontline healthcare workers. With responsibility for defining our roadmap and ensuring the successful introduction, adoption and usage of these solutions, this role will play a central, highly visible role in achieving our ambitious goals for 2030.

    To be successful, the Head of Digital Solutions will welcome the challenge of driving a digital transformation in an environment with lots of ambiguity and insufficient data. They will pick up and manage projects from day one and should be open to rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck into the nuts and bolts of the organisation and our local contexts. That makes this position a suitable next step for someone who can bring their experience of implementing digital solutions in a development or humanitarian context to an organisation where they will be able to deliver lasting impact at scale and make a positive difference to the lives of millions of children.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Essential

    • Extensive product leadership experience across the full product lifecycle
    • Experience of implementing digital solutions in a range of humanitarian and/or development settings
    • Highly developed organisational awareness and ability to understand any sensitivities within a complex multi-stakeholder structure; and think creatively and strategically to overcome obstacles to cooperation and progress
    • Strong communication skills (fluent written & oral English), including the ability to communicate with different types of audiences with different levels of understanding of the subject matter
    • A proven ability to apply excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and to work collaboratively to deliver effective solutions to project related issues. This will include taking on hands-on analysis activities to support the wider team as required
    • Good project management skills with experience of working across the project lifecycle using a structured methodology 
    • Strong team leadership abilities to motivate, support and guide team members and ensure they are clear on their responsibilities and are held to account for their delivery
    • Experience and capability in change management
    • Experience of identifying and delivering process improvements, which make a real impact - you are always looking for ways to make things more efficient and streamlined
    • Willingness and ability to travel

The Digital Programming team is putting in place the processes, platforms, tools and resources that enable Save the Children staff to design, deliver and scale safe, high quality digital programmes.

    The Digital Enablers team is responsible for providing a suite of tools that our local teams will depend on for the effective delivery of a wide range of digital programmes across different thematic areas (including health, education and child protection). These will include messaging, learning and content management platforms to train and support teachers and other professionals remotely. With responsibility for defining our roadmap and ensuring the successful introduction, adoption and usage of these tools, this role will play a central, highly visible role in achieving our ambitious goals for 2030.

    To be successful, the Head of Digital Enablers should be open to rolling up their sleeves and getting into the nuts and bolts of the organisation. They should also welcome the challenge of driving a digital transformation in an environment with lots of ambiguity and insufficient data but with huge potential to make a positive difference to the lives of millions of children.

    Sustainability Manager

    The Sustainability Manager role is key to this last objective supporting the implementation of SCI’s Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change policy working with the different functions to ensure key elements of the policy are embedded in Save the Children’s Quality Framework. Save the Children recognizes that its activities have an impact on the environment and wants to minimize that risk by ensuring that all countries improve their environmental performance by minimising the negative environmental impact of our programmes, operations and supply chains and contributing positively to environmental sustainability and climate change action. The role will foster strong internal and external relationships to drive this agenda and will lead on behavioural change initiatives related to sustainability.

    The Sustainability Manager will be a member of the Climate Crisis Task Force. The Task Force coordinates, facilitates and supports Save the Children’s climate change work in programs, advocacy, operations and fundraising.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • Significant experience in carbon accounting and sustainability including a sound understanding of technical matters relating to environmental management and the public sector and of the opportunities for improvements
    • Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard desirable but not required
    • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, including the ability to both lead and be a member of a team, and of delivering significant results.
    • Proven technical knowledge on sustainability
    • Excellent writing, communications, facilitation, capacity building and networking skills in English. Knowledge in Spanish, French or Arabic is an asset.
    • Strong ability to mobilize, build partnerships, solve problems, guide and motivate people toward the achievement of agreed goals.
    • Experience in policy, advocacy and/or fundraising is desirable.

    • A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, and team-work.
    • Personal maturity and social competence and diplomatic skills.
    • Ability to prioritize especially when working under pressure.

    • Significant experience of delivering child protection programmes in developing countries and/or in humanitarian contexts
    • Demonstrable experience in policy development, ensuring engagement and buy-in, particularly in relation to child protection system strengthening
    • Ability to support high level policy and management committees
    • Proven leadership skills in a large, international, networked organisation
    • Able to think creatively and strategically, to overcome obstacles to cooperation and progress
    • Experience of building personal networks at senior levels, resulting in improved engagement
    • Proven experience in conducting or overseeing research (preferably both qualitative and quantitative)
    • Previous experience of overseeing the capacity development of a large organisation or group of staff. This may be through direct HR responsibility of through holding a senior management role
    • High degree of business and people acumen, and the ability to demonstrate presence and credibility across the organisation
    • Willingness and ability to travel overseas for up to 25%
    • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
