    Nursing Quality Manager

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Works closely with the Quality manager, CNO, CMO, Clinical Governance Committee to achieve the strategy of delivering high quality of nursing care with the best practices and excellent patient outcomes and is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and improving nursing/clinical care in the group.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collects, analyze, and maintain data related to the quality of clinical practice. presents quality indicators for the group management on a monthly basis.
    • Identifies, designs, and implements new processes, evidence-based nursing care to continuallyimprove outcome of care and to achieve performance targets.
    • Manage the maintenance of the Quality Management System to ensure it meets regulatory compliance as well as the Accreditation standards
    • Work/liaise closely with the Nursing Services Managers, Chief Nursing Officer and other departmental heads when undertaking the auditing and inspection roles.
    • Schedule and perform Facility and Clinical Audits in accordance to laid out policies and develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions arising from Audits.
    • Carry out quality improvement plans and disseminate the information to the relevant teams and departments for quality improvement. 
    • Promote awareness of Quality and Regulatory compliance throughout the organization through organized training programs as and when required and participate in training of nursing staff on quality systems to address identified problems to enhance clinical excellence and patient safety. 
    • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information connected to monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice.
    • Ensure that there is monitoring and control all official clinical documents being used in the facility and ensure version control of the organizations policies and procedures.
    • Maintain and develop own professional competencies and knowledge which will evolve dependent on the job requirements. 
    • Provide leadership to achieve high performance by ensuring employee development, employee engagement and performance management to deliver organization objectives and goals.  

    Personal Specifications

    • Degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing)
    • Valid Practice Licence by the relevant regulatory body
    • Advanced training in quality management will be an added advantage 
    • More than 5 years’ work experience. 
    • Strong analytical skills with experience in statistics
    • Experience within the medical industry in Quality / Regulatory functions and familiarity with Quality System standard concepts and procedures will be an added advantage.

    Quality Manager

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Works closely with the Clinical Governance Committee to achieve the strategy of delivering high quality care with excellent patient outcomes and is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and improving clinical care and services in the group. This position is responsible for leading organization wide, performance improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for negotiating timelines and priorities for projects, coordinating action plans, and monitoring/analyzing results for projects that are consistent with the organization's strategic goals and imperatives. Performs related duties as required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage the maintenance of the Quality Management System to ensure it meets regulatory compliance as well as the Accreditation standards
    • Monitor the implementation of Quality Procedures applicable and their maintenance in accordance to laid out policies
    • Work/liaise closely with the Medical Services Managers, Quality nursing manager and other departmental heads when undertaking the auditing and inspection roles.
    • Schedule and perform Facility and Clinical Audits in accordance to laid out policies and develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions arising from Audits.
    • Identifies, designs, and implements new processes and clinical care, based on evidence, to continually improve patient care and outcomes and to achieve performance targets.
    • Performs data analysis; creates & interprets data displays, including clinical, cost, and patient satisfaction data. Works collaboratively with Information Technology (IT) Informatics team, and others to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data that is utilized. Compile reports and sharing the same with the relevant Heads of Department for corrective action.
    • Promote awareness of Quality and Regulatory compliance throughout the organization through organized training programs as and when required and participate in training of staff on quality systems to address identified problems to enhance clinical excellence and patient safety. 
    • Provides guidance and training in data collection for quality indicators as identified by the Clinical Governance Committee and the hospital and acts as resource in the interpretation and use of data generated and utilized by the department.
    • Ensure that there is monitoring and control all official clinical documents being used in the facility and ensure version control of the organizations policies and procedures.
    • Maintain and develop own professional competencies and knowledge which will evolve dependent on the job requirements. 
    • Provide leadership to achieve high performance by ensuring employee development, employee engagement and performance management to deliver organization objectives and goals.
    • Ensure Superior Customer Experience to all internal and external clients
    • Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor in line with the job description.
    • Advises on the appropriate use of quality improvement tools and methodologies, such as PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control Analysis.
    • Reviews Accreditation, Risk, Safety and Quality/Performance Improvement Department quality goals to identify opportunities for improvement and to ensure current projects are working to meet organizational goals.
    • Collects and presents quality indicators for the group management on a monthly basis.
    • Implementation of a group wide incident management system
    • Reviews and updates quality policies for the group.

    Personal Specifications

    • Bachelors’ degree in Nursing or Medicine
    • Valid Practice Licence by the relevant regulatory body
    • Preferred – Qualification in Hospital Quality or Patient Safety Management
    • Five (5) and above years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience Strong analytical skills with experience in statistics
    • Must have participated/led an accreditation process preferably JCIA/COHSASA

    Medical Services Manager

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Provide overall leadership of care and clinical practice carried out at the facility.

    Key Responsibilities

    • The Medical Services Manager will perform the following people management duties as guided by Avenue HR policies and in coordination with the HR Department.
    • Efficient staffing - Liaise with the Hospital Manager/HR to ensure optimal staff levels as well as efficient use of locums.
    • Identify training gaps for Clinical Staff (Doctors, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Radiology) and liaise with HR to facilitate training
    • Ensure staff within the unit are highly motivated and minimize staff attrition rates by
    • Regular staff engagement and monthly departmental meetings
    • romptly addressing staff concerns
    • Reward, Recognition and Discipline
    • Ensure that deserving staff are recognized/rewarded
    • Disciplinary action (with proper cause) is undertaken without undue delay and per defined policies
    • Staff supervision: Responsible for supervising all doctors (resident and locum consultants, resident and locum doctors and radiology staff) including performance review and feedback
    • Conduct clinical activities and share 50% of the on-call responsibilities as per service responsibilities to the Hospital. Private practice will not be permit.
    • Clinical Care Audits of all services on quarterly basis with reports submitted to CMO
    • Facilitate and implement Clinical Governance Committees, Incident Reporting, RCAs with the closure of all QIPs and Corrective Actions
    • Documenting, Reporting and Escalating medical-legal issues to CMO
    • Ensuring all clinical staff register is up to date with contact details all licenses and CPD points
    • Facilitate Credentialing and privileging of doctors and other clinical staff though submitting documents and references for consideration
    • Ensure that the unit functions effectively and efficiently.
    • Ensure timely and appropriate investigations and treatment of the patient.
    • Ensure smooth and timely admission process.
    • Coordinate multidisciplinary care whenever a patient requires it.
    • Ensure that the facility has the necessary equipment that are in good working condition and adequate supplies.
    • Monitor Turn Around Time of service and intervene when necessary
    • Perform duties as a member of the hospital crisis management committee as guided by the committees TOR.
    • Ensure the facility is financially viable and demonstrate growth.
    • Increase the services offered in the facility by recruiting more specialists and giving admission rights and consulting privileges
    • Regularly meeting with admitting consultants and other stakeholders and address their concerns thus ensuring an enabling environment for them.
    • Support Marketing activities to ensure growth in client numbers
    • Refer clients who require home-based care to Avenue Homecare for home-based care and Avenue Rescue for their medical transport needs.
    • Ensure financial objectives are met by;
    • Managing costs within budget,
    • Timely and accurate billing of drugs and services.
    • Ensuring an invoice rejection rate of < 3% by enforcing exclusions, ensuring the necessary pre-authorizations and proper documentation and follow through with the credit control team.
    • Ensure that avenue corporate governance policies are adhered to.
    • Ensure Quality of Care and Quality of Service:
    • Ensure that the resources needed to provide quality care are available in the hospital.
    • Supervise the outsourced radiology unit to ensure SLAs are met, quality standards are adhered to, follow up on complaints and resolve/escalate any challenges.
    • Ensure the implementation of Avenue quality policies
    • Patient satisfaction;
    • Maintain client/patient privacy and confidentiality at all times

    Person Specification

    • A Postgraduate or Masters in relevant medical fields
    • A valid Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists Board Licence (KMPDB) will be required
    • Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate
    • 5 years’ work experience.
