    Assistant Manager, Group Sustainability Strategy & Solution

    Description

    • Assist the Manager in running the SS&S initiatives smoothly.
    • Lead, guide and motivate subsidiary team in executing sustainability mission and goals in line with Equity’s Strategy.
    • Co-develop the execution strategy, projections and communicate the same to subsidiaries for execution.
    • Lead research and other market and business development analysis initiatives to inform the sustainability strategy, product development and commercial pipeline
    • Planning, assigning and supervising sustainability initiatives across the subsidiaries
    • Communicate information top-down or down-up as per the requirement.
    • Will be a co-lead partner relationship manager and will use the opportunity to identify areas Equity can leverage to attain its social, environmental and commercial goals.
    • Establishment and maintaining a close working relationship among teams, other departments at subsidiaries level to ensure smooth running of the SSS initiatives.
    • Work closely with other departments to develop relevant project tracking tools for accurate and timely progress reports on KPIs
    • Promoting/ cross-selling the Banks’ sustainable solutions to clients & partners. Support and/ or facilitate market, information/ knowledge and financial linkages and support build-up of sustainable business networks and eco-system.
    • Linking partners to specific sectors/individuals aligned to sustainability to facilitate customer satisfaction in service delivery
    • Coordinate and participate in capacity building activities for Equity staff, partners and customers
    • Ensure proper continuous documentation and dissemination/ reporting of activities on a monthly basis.
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly sustainability reports for management use.

    Qualifications

    • University degree in Sustainability/Environmental Science/ Finance/ Economics/Data Science
    • Professional training in data analytics, proposal writing and/ or people management will be an added advantage
    • At least 3 years’ work experience with reputable organization managing green projects, sustainable product development and sustainable finance.
    • Experience in middle level people management

    Manager - Group Sustainability Operations - Climate Finance

    KEY RESPONSIBILIITIES

    Support in the running of sustainability operations across the EGH subsidiaries through the following aspects;

    Climate Financing

    • Support in monitoring of Group climate financed loans using current tools of assessment and maintaining an up-to-date data on climate finance portfolio.
    • Support in the implementation of the Group’s climate finance goal through evaluation of project eligibility against Bank’s agreed climate taxonomy.
    • Support in the origination and structuring of climate finance opportunities together with business teams across the subsidiaries when required.
    • Support in financed emissions assessment across the Group.
    • Support in the management of DFI climate programs at subsidiaries and work in generation of necessary reports.
    • Support in the development and implementation of climate finance and carbon reduction trainings across the Group.
    • Work on partnerships identification for the Bank with climate finance strategic partners to spearhead climate financing. 

    Operations

    • Work on development and implementation of Bank’s decarbonization plan for Bank operations through working with facilities.
    • Work with Group facilities team to undertake monthly management carbon and resource footprint and develop a reduction pathway for minimizing costs and reduce footprint using tools. 
    • Support in development of fit for market climate finance products through developing innovative ideas of tackling the climate market.

    Reporting

    • Generate monthly report on climate financing across the Group. 
    • Generate monthly report on climate finance pipeline against status and challenges for financing where applicable.
    • Generate decarbonization report for the Group at every quarter against target for operational scope 1,2 and 3. 
    • Submit relevant DFIs report in accordance with the relevant programs at the Bank supporting climate financing. 
    • Support subsidiaries team in collection of annual data required for Group’s annual sustainability reporting.  

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, BACKGROUND AND SKILLS

    • University degree in Sustainability/Environmental Science/ Engineering/Finance.
    • At least 7 years’ experience in climate financing.
    • Professional qualifications in areas such as GRI, Sustainable Finance, Carbon accounting will be considered as a strong advantage.
    • An understanding on of Banking sector will be an added advantage.
    • Strong skills in planning, organizing, and prioritizing when working on several assignments at the same time and under pressure.
    • Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Able to collaborate cross-functionally.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support in the running of sustainability operations across the subsidiaries through the following aspects;

    Risk Management

    • Support in implementation of ESG risk management across subsidiaries through a dedicated assurance program together with subsidiaries ESG teams.
    • Work with subsidiaries team to ensure that they meet ESG risk compliance requirements in terms of management and monitoring of ESG risk.
    • Support in implementation of the sustainability training plan for subsidiaries teams in areas of business and supply chain.
    • Keep an up-to-date database of all subsidiaries ESG risk assessment and report on implementation of ESAP closure.
    • Support in review of ESG policy across subsidiaries incorporating market and regulatory development.
    • Arrange for quarterly monitoring of ESG risks of high-risk clients across the subsidiaries as part of quality assurance process.

    Sustainability opportunities

    • Work with the subsidiaries team to ensure that ESG risks complemented by opportunities are followed up for closure.
    • Support in the implementation of the Group’s sustainable finance goal through evaluation of project eligibility against agreed climate taxonomy and supporting data reporting.
    • Support subsidiary team in client management to enhance uptake of identified sustainability opportunities.

    Operations

    • Support in the implementation of a decarbonization plan for the Bank operations and financed carbon footprint.
    • Together with the Group’s facilities team, undertake data gathering, analysis and generate a monthly carbon footprint report for the group performance.
    • Keep an up-to-date monitoring of Group’s resource use data to be used in monitoring performance against plan.
    • Update and support in revision of carbon tracking tool for the Group.
    • Work together with supply chain in assuring the supply chain integrates ESG in evaluation process pre and post onboarding.

    Qualifications

    Manager - Group Sustainability Operations - ESG Risk Mgt

    KEY RESPONSIBILIITIES

    • Support in running of sustainability operations across the subsidiaries through the following;

    Implementation of EGH ESG Risk Management

    • Support in implementation of ESG risk management across subsidiaries through undertaking assurance program in collaboration with subsidiaries sustainability teams for high-risk clients and select medium high and medium low risk clients.
    • Work with subsidiaries team in ensuring that ESG compliance as per EGH ESG Policy, ESRM Framework and Procedures end to end from transaction screening to monitoring and reporting.
    • Support in identification of emerging regulatory changes globally and at subsidiaries level and accordingly communicate that same in monthly reporting.
    • Maintain a constant monitoring of E&S risk management profile at all levels across the subsidiaries.
    • Support in arranging and carrying out periodic monitoring of high-risk clients and monitoring of ESAP implementation.
    • Support business in identification of opportunities from risk through capacitating them and work in development of interactive tools able to convert risk into opportunities.
    • Support in review of ESG policy, framework and procedures across subsidiaries incorporating market and regulatory development.
    • Ensure high risk clients are monitored across the Group at any given point and the risks are mitigated through an agreed Bank-client action plan in a specified time period.

    ESG Risk and Opportunities Capacity enhancement

    • Support in the implementation of the ESG risk management training plan ensuring periodic refreshers are carried out across the Group ESG teams.
    • Work with subsidiaries ESG team to identify training needs for both ESG team and business teams and develop a calendar of training that can be leverage across Group where necessary for the benefit of all the subsidiaries.

    Reporting

    • Support in the development of the Group sustainability reporting by providing key data and developing key areas of the report on risk management under each subsidiary.
    • Work with subsidiaries teams to ensure all DFI ESG risk reports are on time and reviewed prior to submission.  

     
    Qualifications
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, BACKGROUND AND SKILLS

    • University degree in Sustainability/Environmental Science/ Engineering/Finance
    • At least 7 years experience in ESG risk and climate financing.
