    Manager – Radio Access Planning & Design

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager - Access Network Planning & Design, the role holder is responsible for the Design, plan and optimization of the wireless radio access network communications systems, including radio propagation modelling and prediction, interference analysis, frequency coordination and parameter definition.He/She will be required to formulate radio capacity design guidelines, forecasting and strategies as per ITU and Safaricom planning guidelines.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Design: Design, Plans and optimization of wireless radio access network communications systems, including radio propagation modelling and prediction, interference analysis, frequency planning, parameter definition and ancillary equipment. Timely and accurate release of nominal, redesigns and integration parameters. Participate in MSVs, SAVs and IBS survey visits;
    • Frequency Retunes: Continuously review the frequency/PSC/PCI plan to accommodate new sites and ensure overall reduction in interference levels.
    • Network Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor new sites quality KPIs through performance monitoring and drive test analysis. Trigger corrective optimization plans and manage to completion. Analyze traffic trends, Resource utilization, redistribute capacity and optimize resources to guarantee quality.
    • New Features: Performs development, testing, and validation of RF (HW &SW) feature plan proposals. Provides input in defining implementation guidelines for approved new features and technologies. Coordinate trial testing for new features.
    • Site database update and parameter standardization: Site database update and Standardization of all RAN Database. Maintain standards  configuration rules on all radio database parameters
    • Customer Complaints: Prioritize and attend to coverage related customer complaints and provide a solution /recommendation with the agreed time frame. Identify and forestall potential complaint areas.
    • Processes and Coaching: Participate in developing internal process used for radio network design and Optimization. Collaborates with legal, SLT and CA to ensure regulatory compliance; Support other business units on technical evaluation of RF solutions on existing and emerging technology plans and strategies
    • Innovation: Continuously researching and engaging key stake holders on new technologies, processes to enhance network. Engages Vendors and Strategy team on hardware and software roadmaps and new RF technologies;

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree in Electrical, Electronics ,Telecommunication Engineering, computer science, IT  or any technical related field
    • Excellent analytical skills and  attention to details, Communication and interpersonal skills, Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
    • 4 years’ experience in telecommunication with hands–on experience in Radio Network planning.
    • Practical knowledge on use of radio planning tools and capacity planning tools, MySQL, M2000, NetAct, Advanced Excel,  Erlang-B etc.
    • Experience in process automation and database audits interfacing with planning tools.
    • SQL database queries and scripting for data manipulation, GIS and crowd source analytics is an added advantage.
    • Candidates with experience in Nokia or Huawei RAN equipment will have an added advantage.

    Manager – RAN Capacity Planning

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager - Access Network Planning & Design, the role holder will carry out RAN Network Capacity Planning and RAN Site database update and parameter standardization. He/She will be required to continuously monitor the RAN capacity KPI’s using network planning tools and take appropriate actions to improve quality, capacity, coverage and network performance by capacity upgrades, deploying enhanced features and fine-tuning RAN parameters. He/She will also be responsible for issuing long term network capacity plans based on resource utilization, RAN Upgrade project management and coordination.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and coordinate assigned RAN Capacity network projects: Ensure project timelines and standards are met and that all project reports and documentation are complete and timely;
    • Manage Radio Network Capacity Planning: Analyze traffic trends, resource utilization, redistribute capacity and optimize resources to guarantee capacity;
    • Executing Network dimensioning tasks to address capacity and coverage requirements by optimally Optimizing network interfaces and nodes to cater for 2G/3G/LTE voice and data traffic.
    • Trigger for new  capacity sites in accordance with the agreed triggers for capacity sites and forward to RF Planning Team for release of nominal plans, redesigns and integration parameters;
    • Network capacity Optimization: Continuously monitor the capacity KPI’s on network planning tools. Trigger corrective optimization plans and manage to completion;
    • Site database update and parameter standardization: Standardization of all RAN parameters. Maintain standards/parameter rules on all radio database parameters;
    • Identification of Potential bottlenecks in the end to end network and escalate to Regional Networks & Core teams the related concerns;
    • New Enhanced Features: Deploy enhanced features to improve RAN network performance

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Senior Manager – Revenue Assurance

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Head of Business Assurance the position holder will provide independent and reliable assurance to the business that revenues due to the company are accurately captured and billed through proactive management of the implementation, execution and monitoring of Revenue Assurance (RA) controls as per RA Charter.

    Responsibilities

    • Build a robust Revenue assurance model to improve revenue management controls for key revenue streams (Voice, SMS, Data & M-PESA)as per RA controls documentation
    • Manage the implementation, execution and monitoring of automated billing Assurance controls for new revenue growth areas.
    • Oversee Financial Service Assurance that include M-PESA billing assurance, M-PESA airtime distribution, M-PESA Agents commission and e-value reconcilliations
    • Ensure that all rating and billing systems are accurately set up and are aligned with the approved business rules to ensure minimal revenue loss.
    • Ensure network configuration audits of the key revenue generating elements (M-PESA Platform, Convergent Billing System (CBS) Mobile Switching Centre nodes (MSC, SMSC, USSD & SMPP gateways, GGSNs, SGSNs switches etc.) are performed with a view of detecting configurations that may lead to revenue leakages
    • Assess all risks impacts and ensure implementation of effective controls into new and existing products, promotions and services
    • To ensure that all new products and services are adequately tested, all revenue generating systems are appropriately configured and partner payments for all key products and services are accurately computed.
    • Continuously monitor compliance to approved product & services business rules, policies and procedures and guide the respective business functions to implement actions to address areas of non-compliance
    • Ensure that adequate change management procedures and end to end reconciliations are performed from switch to Billing elements.
    • Manage the development of appropriate processes and procedures that will ensure all key revenue streams are tracked, and deviations in revenues are explained.
    • Assurance and monitoring of roaming and Interconnect through daily reconciliations of the same to RA system to the source systems and timely error management reviews
    • Champion top ups/voucher IN reconciliations, deferred revenue reconciliation analysis to support the balance in the accounts with the source systems (UVC/IN) data
    • Ensure that churn is monitored and correlations between churn and our entire products milestones are explained.
    • Continuously review the operating environment to identify new and emerging risks and advise the organization on the various means to mitigate the identified risks
    • Support the Finance division in achieving complete and accurate daily revenue reconciliation between BI, ERP and RA system.
    • Take leadership in internal and external audits and follow up implementation and closure of issues both in reports and Team Central
    • Lead and manage the section’s team, ensuring the team have clear priorities and direction and remain motivated by providing inspirational leadership and coaching
    • Increase the employee engagement index for the revenue assurance team in line with mission

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Professional / Technical qualifications

    • A graduate with a degree in IT, Engineering, Financial Systems, Economics, Commerce or related field.
    • Professional certification in Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management or Information Systems will be added advantage
    • Relevant post-graduate education is an added advantage
    • Have at least 6-7 years’ experience in Assurance, Risk Management and/or Management of Business Process Improvement
    • Ability to analyze significant amounts of data and information and distill it to the key points that help Senior Management analyze risk in a given situation.
    • Capability to accumulate, summarize and interpret risk reports from business units, support units and assurance units.
    • Have strong business acumen and highly developed commercial experience

    Senior Civil Works Engineer

    Reporting to the Senior Manager – Site Acquisition and Rollout the position holder will Supervise the Roll-out of new BTS sites and other civil works in existing Safaricom network in line with delivering an integral quality network within reduced CAPEX and OPEX.

    Responsibilities

    • Take lead role of MSV / site surveys for any rollout and Indoor, works to ensure design meets SFC requirements
    • Supervise the construction of Rollout & Indoor sites Access Network Rollout and ensure Health & Safety and process governance is observed, quality and timely delivery of new sites.
    • Assist in implementation of other Projects such as 5G standalone, Special Projects, Decommissioning, etc..

    Analyst- Managed Security Operations Centre

    DESCRIPTION

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Analyst- Managed Security Operations Centre in the Managed Security Services Department within the EBU Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    The Managed Security Operations Centre (MSOC) team is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and defending our MSOC clients Enterprise Information Systems. The team continuously develops and investigates correlated security event feeds, escalating any identified security incidents. They are the primary contact for any suspected security incidents, working together with the different customers remediation teams, resolving incidents, and foiling Cyber Security threats against our MSOC Customers Brand.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager – Managed Security Services (MSS), the successful candidate will lend support in Cyber threat detection, working in 24/7 shifts, providing eyes-on-the-glass service, performing real-time monitoring and identification of security incidents. He/she will help identify suspicious activity, open incident investigation tickets and escalate any key concerns to the Level 2/3 for additional analysis & communication for the MSOC customers to action.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work in 24*7 shifts performing real time monitoring of security alerts generated by various security tools deployed by Managed Security Operatins Centre.
    • Proactively research and monitor security information to identify potential threats that may impact the organisation.
    • Open and update incidents in SIEM case management tool to report the alarms triggered or threats detected. Analyst should properly include for each incident on SIEM case management all details related to the logs, alarms and other indicators identified in accordance with the intervention protocol of each client and the SLA.
    • Develop and distribute information and alerts on required corrective actions to the respective clients.
    • Escalate validated and confirmed incidents to the client’s designated incident response team.
    • Notify Client of incident and required mitigation works.
    • Track and update incidents and requests based on client’s updates and analysis results.
    • Fine-tune SIEM rules to reduce false positive and remove false negatives.
    • Collect global threat intelligence and internal threats then inject actions based on analysis and recommendation.
    • Work closely with Vulnerability Management and client designated incident response team.
    • Understand the structure and the meaning of logs from different log sources such as FW, IDS, Windows DC, Cisco appliances, AV and antimalware software, email security etc.
    • Perform threat intel research.
    • Ability to run and understand Sandbox Static Analysis.
    • Ensures that every phase of a particular project proceeds as scheduled
    • Presents new ideas to MSS executives in order to increase and enrich the MSS portfolio.
    • Support the commercial sales team in pitching the MSS solutions to the customer.
    • Provide support when required as the technical point of contact for existing product partners
    • Research market trends to find unmet needs
    • Learn new attack patterns, actively participate in security forums.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Technical Skill
