    Chief Accountant - FMCG

    Our client is an FMCG company looking to hire a Senior Accountant to be based in Mt. Kenya region. He will be responsible for financial management and accountability of the company. He will also oversee the finance department and report directly to the Directors.

    Responsibilities 

    • Prepare monthly management accounts and projections and other relevant reports, in consultation with the Group Finance Manager and other departments, for presentation to the Board of Directors.
    • Prepare the year-end financial accounts for audit and to liaise with the Group Finance manager and Auditors prior to sign-off.
    • Manage the Company’s working capital and other operations, including management and statutory accounts together with long term financial projections and to ensure that the most efficient and effective financial control systems and reporting mechanisms are in place.
    • Ensure the overall smooth running of the Company’s internal administration and its cost-effectivenesss
    • Manage personnel procedures in relation to recruitment, training, holidays and appraisals, ensuring these are properly documented, and advise on relevant policies.
    • Ensure effective policies and procedures implementation within the organization.
    • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
    • Secures financial information by completing data base backups
    • Maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls, and protecting the organization value by keeping information confidential.
    • Meeting financial standards by providing accounting department annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances and implementing corrective actions
    • Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost reduction opportunities

    Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business Administration or related field.
    • Must be a CPA (K) or ACCA
    • 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance and administration from a reputable organization
    • At least 2 years’ experience at management level in FMCG industry
    • MUST possess strong leadership skills.
    • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
    • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
    • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Strong Analytical skills

    Construction Surveyor - Mwea

    Our client is a leading player in construction and public works in Africa with offices in several countries in the continent. They are currently seeking to fill the position of a Construction Surveyor for their irrigation project.

    Responsibilities

    • Produce layouts using surveying instruments and tools.
    • Establish lines and grades within the construction site by performing construction surveys.
    • Perform daily record keeping of work performed on a daily basis and share the records with the Projects Department.
    • Provide topographic surveys of construction site areas.
    • Review construction design to ensure proper quantities, dimensions, and overall completeness.
    • Provide calculations and records in support of all survey activities.
    • Lead others in the survey work and make survey computations.
    • Carry out inspections to ensure that proper compliance with construction specifications is adhered to.

    Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with/or Diploma in Surveying in any Professionally Certified Institute.
    • Should have extensive field survey experience in different projects
    • 5-8 years’ experience in construction.

    Construction Laboratory Manager - Concrete Testing

    Our client is a leading player in construction and public works in Africa with offices in several countries in the continent. They currently have an irrigation project and seek to hire a Construction Laboratory Manager who can manage the laboratory and staff working in the lab.  This includes ensuring that the laboratory testing services are conducted in a safe manner and consistent with company quality protocols, project requirements, and in a timely manner.

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in the creation and setting up of the laboratory team and equipment on site
    • Directly supervises or monitors laboratory activities to ensure that the work is executed on time and in accordance with the client and project requirements and within company policies, procedures and standards
    • Establish and follow the schedule of inspections and tests in accordance with current standards
    • Manage checklists and ensure the traceability of samples and tests
    • Analyze test results with the project team and advise on measures to be taken in case of anomalies
    • Organise document filing for the laboratory department
    • Supervises the efficient utilization of facilities and equipment assigned to the laboratory and makes requests for additional equipment and facilities as needed to meet the project demands.
    • Ensures that laboratory processes and personnel adhere to the requirements of the company Quality program and the Construction Materials Quality Management System (QMS).
    • Oversees calibration, maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory equipment.
    • Oversees the proper organization and appearance of the laboratory area, including keeping the area and equipment clean and uncluttered.
    • Oversee or coordinate the training and utilization of laboratory staff.
    • Evaluates the performance of all employees within the laboratory and assists them in their professional development and growth, consistent with company policies and procedures.
    • Ensures that laboratory personnel are properly trained, supervised and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the office and laboratory
    • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices
    • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modelling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.

    Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • At least 5 – 8 years in construction projects
    • QHSE Training is desirable
    • Ability to work with others across the organization
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Taking initiative and work with minimum supervision
    • Ability to work independently
    • Results oriented individual and a team player

    Communication and Marketing Officer

    Our client is a growing business working to promote clean water initiatives to both households and schools. This is primarily done in areas with little to no clean drinking water majorly in the western bloc.

    They have an office in Nairobi, with the main office complex in Western Kenya. They seek to hire a competent Communication and Marketing Officer. The incumbent should have excellent communication skills and have an outstanding knowledge of Social media.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Work with the CEO to develop effective communication strategies to reach various stakeholders
    • Design, develop and disseminate periodical newsletters and e-newsletters to update key stakeholders of activities and achievements. Writing a monthly blog highlighting recent activities and updating the impact numbers (people reached) on a monthly basis.
    • Keep the website up to date, including: Updating any changes in personnel, strategy or product.
    • Weekly, or more frequent, posts on social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, etc.)
    • Write and share Annual Impact Stories detailing how our work has impacted our customers and implementing partners
    • Liaise with the M&E department to develop case studies as may be needed.
    • Liaise with relevant departments to determine the marketing materials they need and support in developing them. These may include brochures, flyers, banners, business cards etc.
    • Ensuring that there is brand uniformity, brand appeal and brand awareness within and without the organization.
    • Ensuring that the organisation is aware of and is represented in relevant events where there is an opportunity to advance its brand.
    • Ensuring that all staff are trained on and are able to articulate what the client brand is and what it represents.
    • Develop & implement strategies to benefit from free electronic and print media coverage.
    • Collect a wide range of high-quality photos that reflect the various activities and impacts our organization has.
    • Identify and utilize the most appropriate tools/technology to sort, segment and store all relevant photos and documents.
    • Ensure that all archived photos and documents are secure and accessible to the relevant people when needed.
    • To work primarily in an office environment. Will be expected to travel as needed to the field & company offices.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in communication or marketing,
    • Minimum of 2 year’s experience in PR, communications, client service, journalism or marketing.

    • Should have an outstanding knowledge of social media.
    • Familiarity with social media platforms
