    Learning Experience Designer

    About the Role
As a Learning Experience Designer you’ll play a hands-on role in:

    •  Knowledge capture (30%). This entails working with teams to document how things are done (SOPs, playbooks, processes). This responsibility will mainly lie with the functional leads but support is needed to guide the format in which knowledge is captured to ensure its usability.
    •  Learning design (70%). This entails taking the documented knowledge and turning it into actual training content (courses, videos, guides) that can be used by both internal staff and external stakeholders. This responsibility is 100% owned by the Learning Experience Designer. However it is important to note that the internal knowledge assets (SoPs, Playbooks etc) are an input into the learning design process, hence learning design cannot happen without the knowledge capture process.

The primary focus of this role is to strengthen internal operational learning, while leading the development of learning materials for F4E’s Centre of Excellence.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is excited to observe first-hand how the knowledge and learning assets they develop directly impact internal operations and support the launch of F4E’s Centre of Excellence.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • End-to-end Learning Experience Design: Apply learning science principles to develop knowledge artefacts and learning initiatives that enhance staff understanding and performance. This includes mapping stakeholder needs to ensure the artefacts developed meet the desired needs.
    • Content Creation: Develop clear, practical, accessible, and jargon-free content and course materials in various formats such as text, video and diagrams for staff of all levels that align with our objectives. This could entail development of ‘how-to’ content that can be used internally e.g playbooks and working with the Centre of Excellence team to develop curriculum for other organisations within the school feeding ecosystem or governments.
    • Learning Management System Selection & Management: Support the design and implementation of the LMS in collaboration with the tech and L&D team to ensure that the learning tool selected enhances the learning experience both for internal staff and external stakeholders.
    • Evaluation: Embedded Impact and Learning (EIL) feedback loops to continuously assess and improve course content and learning initiatives based on feedback and performance metrics.
    • Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to extract the relevant information needed to develop the desired knowledge and learning assets.

    Desired Qualities

    • At least 4 years experience in instructional design, experience design, or a related role, with proven experience in creating clear, practical, and engaging educational content and developing an educational program end-to-end.
    • Ability to develop learning content in multiple formats such as text, video, images, etc. to suit various learning styles.
    • Ability to design learning assessment artefacts.
    • Research capabilities and strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex processes.
    • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other relevant learning technologies.
    • Comfortable partnering with technology teams and excited about using digital tools to improve learning and operations.
    • Experience working in large organisations with field staff on-ground.
    • Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent organisational and analytical skills with the ability to multitask, prioritise, complete work accurately, meet deadlines, and follow through.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal skills such as ability to build trust and collaborate across teams.
    • Proactive, curious, and motivated by a strong sense of ownership.
    • Commitment to Food for Education’s mission and values.

Intern, Measurement Systems & Field Data Quality

    About the Role

As Food4Education scales toward serving 1 million learners in Kenya by 2027 and 3 million across Africa by 2030, our Impact team is restructuring around four integrated workstreams: Measurement Systems & Data Quality; Field Data Collection & Quality; Research & Evaluation; and Insights, Reporting & Learning. The reliability of everything we report — to leadership, to donors, to government partners — depends on data being collected accurately at the source and structured cleanly upstream.

The Intern, Measurement Systems & Field Data Quality, works across two of our workstreams supporting the Associates who lead each. The intern will help design and refine data collection tools, run quality checks on incoming monitoring data, support training and coordination with field teams collecting data in schools and counties, and help document the standards and protocols that keep our data reliable as we scale. The role is designed as a structured learning experience: the intern will gain hands-on exposure to indicator design, tool development, field training, data quality assurance, and analysis, with coaching from experienced M&E practitioners.

    Key Responsibilities

Measurement systems & data quality (~60%)

    • Support the Senior Associate, Data Systems, Quality & Analysis to build and refine digital data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, CommCare or equivalent) for routine monitoring across schools, kitchens, and field activities.
    • Run regular data quality checks on incoming monitoring datasets — looking for completeness, consistency, missing values, outliers, and adherence to indicator definitions — and document issues for follow-up with field teams.
    • Help maintain indicator definitions, data dictionaries, and tool change logs so that what we measure stays standardized across regions and over time.
    • Conduct basic descriptive analyses of monitoring data in Excel, Google Sheets, STATA, R, or Python to help the team see what is happening in the field and surface anomalies early.

Field data collection & quality (~40%)

    • Support the Senior Associate, Field Monitoring & Accountability to plan and prepare data collection rounds with school leads, RPDAs, customer service teams, and other field roles.
    • Co-facilitate enumerator and field team trainings on tools, protocols, ethics, informed consent, and confidentiality — and help develop simple training materials, checklists, and job aids.
    • Conduct field visits to selected schools and county sites to observe data collection in practice, troubleshoot issues, and bring back ground-truth that improves tools and training.
    • Support pilot tests of new tools and indicators, document what works and what doesn’t, and help iterate before full roll-out.
    • Cross-cutting
    • Help document standard operating procedures, QA protocols, and field guides so the next person inheriting this work has a clear playbook.
    • Participate in team learning sessions, sprint reviews, and OKR check-ins, and present your own work and findings on a regular cadence.
    • Take on stretch assignments aligned to your learning goals — for example, supporting an evaluation, contributing to a learning brief, or running a focused analysis.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, Data Science, Public Health, Nutrition or a related field. Coursework or specialisation in monitoring & evaluation, research methods, or applied data analysis is desirable.

    Experience

    • At least 1–3 years of practical experience in data collection, enumeration, M&E, research, or community-based program work — paid, volunteer, internship, fieldwork, or research assistant experience all count.
    • Hands-on experience using mobile data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare, or SurveyCTO in real field settings, including handling sensitive or confidential data.
    • Some exposure to data quality checking, cleaning, or verification — spotting inconsistencies, flagging missing data, and following up with sources.
    • Experience working with vulnerable, diverse, or community-based populations, with demonstrated commitment to ethical data handling, informed consent, and confidentiality, is a strong plus.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Comfortable with Excel and/or Google Sheets for organizing and analyzing data.
    • Detail-oriented and methodical — catches the small things in a dataset, a tool, or a protocol that others miss.
    • Strong written communication: can document what you did, what you found, and what should change, in a way someone else can act on.
    • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills — able to build trust with field teams, school staff, and community members from a wide range of backgrounds.
    • Curious, coachable, and proactive: asks why, takes feedback well, and follows through without being chased.
    • Working proficiency in English and Kiswahili required; additional Kenyan or regional languages are an added advantage.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Background in nutrition, public health, food production, or other experience relevant to F4E’s school feeding work.
    • Prior experience supporting enumerator or field team trainings, or co-facilitating community sessions.
    • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
    • Comfort with travel to school and county sites for field visits and data collection support.

    Manager, Impact Systems & Quality

    About the Role

As Food4Education scales toward serving 1 million learners in Kenya by 2027 and 3 million across Africa by 2030, our Impact team handles four integrated workstreams: Measurement Systems & Data Quality; Field Data Collection & Quality; Research & Evaluation; and Insights, Reporting & Learning. The Manager, Impact Systems & Quality is a new coordination and quality-oversight role created to close the gap between strategy and execution as we scale.

The Manager owns the day-to-day rhythm of the Impact team — leading workflow management, planning, and delivery across all four workstreams, and providing the first layer of technical and quality review before outputs reach senior leadership. The role ensures associates are well-supported, workplans are realistic and visible, dependencies are surfaced early, and OKRs are tracked transparently.

The Manager combines strong M&E methodological judgment with the operational discipline and strategic planning needed to run multiple concurrent workstreams, juggling the ebbs and flows of the school calendar, building strong cross-departmental relationships to understand when field and customer service teams have bandwidth to collect data, choreographing tools and timelines so peak-activity weeks run smoothly, and routing analysis, documentation, and design work into the slower windows between collection cycles and during school closures.

    Key Responsibilities

    Cross-workstream coordination & delivery management

    • Run end-to-end project management across the four Impact workstreams (Measurement Systems & Data Quality, Field Data Collection & Quality, Research & Evaluation, Insights, Reporting & Learning), using Gantt charts, sprint/scrum-style cycles, and Notion-based workplans to sequence dependencies, manage capacity, and keep delivery on track.
    • Maintain a single source of truth for priorities, milestones, risks, and capacity across the team — and provide leadership with concise weekly/monthly updates on where each workstream stands, what is at risk, and what decisions are needed.
    • Lead the team’s OKR cycle: translate strategic objectives into measurable team and individual key results, run regular check-ins, track progress, and flag drift early so course-corrections happen in-cycle rather than at quarter-end.
    • Support associates to develop and maintain workplans, timelines, and operating routines (stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) that keep work predictable and visible.

    Quality oversight & technical review

    • Serve as the first layer of quality review for all outputs produced by associates — indicators and frameworks, data collection tools, monitoring datasets, evaluation protocols, dashboards, and reports — before they move to the Senior Manager or Head of Impact.
    • Apply M&E methodological rigor to flag errors, methodological weaknesses, sampling issues, indicator misalignment with the Theory of Change, and data quality risks; provide structured, actionable feedback that strengthens both the output and the associate’s capability.
    • Partner with the Senior Associate – Data Systems, Quality & Analysis to ensure indicator definitions, QA protocols, and data collection tools are standardized across all operational sites and aligned with BI/data warehouse requirements.

    People management & capability building

    • Directly manage the Impact associate team across workstreams, including weekly 1:1s, performance management, coaching, and career development.
    • Hold associates accountable for delivery commitments and updates, while creating the structures — templates, peer review, documentation standards — that make consistent quality the default.
    • Coach associates to grow — strengthening their M&E methods, analytical depth, and delivery skills through structured feedback, stretch assignments, and access to relevant training, so every review cycle is also a learning moment.

    Stakeholder & systems alignment

    • Coordinate closely with Operations, BI/Tech, Legal, and Development teams to align Impact deliverables with field realities, data infrastructure, ethics requirements, and donor commitments.
    • Translate strategy from the Head of Impact and Senior Manager into executable work plans and ensure progress, blockers, and decisions flow back up cleanly.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Data Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree in M&E, Public Policy, Development Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.

    Experience

    • Minimum 6–8 years of progressive experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, research and learning (MEARL), with at least 2–3 years managing people and multi-stream workplans in a fast-scaling organization.
    • Demonstrated experience designing and managing M&E systems end-to-end — from indicator design and Theory of Change articulation through tool development, data collection, QA, analysis, and reporting.
    • Track record of running structured project management cadences (sprints/scrum, Gantt-based planning, OKR cycles) across multiple concurrent workstreams and reporting clearly to senior leadership.
    • Hands-on experience reviewing the technical work of more junior staff — catching methodological errors, sampling issues, indicator misalignment, and data quality problems — and giving feedback that improves both the output and the team member.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams (Operations, BI/Data, Programs, Development) to align measurement with operational realities and donor reporting requirements.

Senior Associate, Insights, Learning & Reporting

    About the Role

As Food4Education scales to reach 1 million learners in Kenya by 2027 and 3 million across Africa by 2030, the volume and importance of evidence we generate is growing fast. The Impact team handles four integrated workstreams — Measurement Systems & Data Quality; Field Data Collection & Quality; Research & Evaluation; and Insights, Reporting & Learning — to ensure every data point translates into a decision.

The Senior Associate, Insights, Learning & Reporting owns the “use” and “learn” stages of our impact system. The role turns monitoring data, evaluation findings, and field intelligence into clear reports, compelling visuals, and decision-ready insights for internal leadership, program teams, donors, and external partners. The Senior Associate works closely with the rest of the Impact Team, our Communications team, our Business Insights team, and consultant designers to ensure that the story we tell is accurate, well-sourced, and actionable — and that recommendations are tracked through to adoption.

    Key Responsibilities

    Reporting & insight generation

    • Lead the production of internal and external impact reports, donor reports, board updates, learning briefs, and presentations — owning the end-to-end process from data pull to final design-quality output.
    • Translate complex monitoring and evaluation data into clear narratives, visuals, and “so what” insights that help leadership and program teams make decisions.
    • Maintain a reporting calendar that maps every recurring deliverable to its data sources, owners, review cycles, and deadlines, and ensures timeliness across all reporting commitments.
    • Balance methodological precision with communication clarity: keep the thread of sample size, design, and limitations intact internally, while producing simple, decision-ready facts externally.

    Data visualization & storytelling

    • Partner with Measurement Systems teammates and the BI/Tech team to specify and review dashboards, ensuring reported metrics align with indicator definitions, the Theory of Change, and donor commitments.
    • Work with designers to produce visually compelling, accessible, and on-brand reports, infographics, and presentation decks; uphold a consistent visual identity for Impact outputs.
    • Build reusable templates, chart libraries, and report components that improve speed and consistency across the team.

    Learning & adoption

    • Facilitate learning sessions that close the loop between evidence and action — surfacing what data is telling us, what we should change, and who needs to act.
    • Track recommendations from evaluations, monitoring reviews, and learning sessions through to adoption, and report regularly on what has shifted as a result.
    • Document institutional knowledge so that lessons travel across teams, regions, and time.

    Quality assurance & cross-team coordination

    • Apply rigorous QA to every output: triangulate figures across sources, audit indicator definitions, verify disaggregation, and ensure citations and methodologies are transparent.
    • Coordinate with Senior Associates across Data Systems, Field Monitoring, and Research & Evaluation to integrate inputs into coherent insights products.
    • Support the Manager and Senior Manager with cross-cutting analyses, ad-hoc deep dives, and inputs to strategy and grant-making conversations.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Communications, Data Science, or a related field. Postgraduate training in M&E, public policy, data analytics, or a related discipline is an added advantage.

    Experience

    • Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in M&E, research, communications, or insights/analytics roles, with at least 2 years focused on producing reports and insights for senior or external audiences.
    • Demonstrated portfolio of high-quality reports, dashboards, presentations, or learning products you personally led from data to final output.
    • Experience working with monitoring or program data in education, nutrition, public health, or large-scale service delivery contexts is strongly preferred.
    • Experience collaborating with BI/data engineering, design, and program teams to deliver polished, decision-ready outputs.
