    Entrepreneurship Technical Advisor, Global Programs

    Your Background & Skills 

    • Bachelor’s Degree 
    • 8+ years of progressive job experience 
    • Experience with developing leadership and entrepreneurship-focused curriculum, activities, and learning opportunities 
    • Experience training and coaching for-profit and non-profit entrepreneurs, ideally across a wide range of international contexts 
    • Experience conducting outreach and developing and maintaining partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders 
    • Experience creating and facilitating entrepreneurship development programs 
    • Experience presenting information orally in front of a range of audiences 
    • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace 
    • Supervisory experience or experience directly managing staff preferred 
    • Proven experience managing a project or multiple administrative and programmatic components of a project to meet goals and objectives in a demanding, time sensitive work environment. 
    • Proactive and comfortable with contemporary digital platforms for collaboration and communication including familiarity with online tools and platforms for surveys, payments, and virtual programming; as well as with the Microsoft suite of applications 
    • Demonstrated ability to plan strategically and creatively to meet specified objectives with strong ability to anticipate challenges and proactively generate solutions; 
    • Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize; 
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member with consistent ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and be flexible; 
    • Availability to support scheduled program activities in the evenings and on weekends occasionally; 
    • Outstanding interpersonal and intercultural skills; and

    Your Daily Tasks 

    • Manage and lead initiatives to increase entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship technical capacity across IREX.
    • Develop, and manage planning, logistics, and implementation of exchange programs and leadership development programs that focus on training and supporting entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. This could include entrepreneurs at the idea-stage or incubator stage, early-stage, and scaling-stage across both for-profit and non-profit entrepreneurship business models. It could also include entrepreneurial-ness as a key skill set for 21st-century career success. 
    • Develop lesson plans and curriculum to train and coach a wide range of entrepreneurial leaders at various stages of their growth across IREX programs around the world.
    • In close collaboration with practice leadership, Strategic Partnerships Unit, and New Business Development Unit, develop and work towards new proposals and new projects. 
    • Develop and lead outreach strategies to market events or program activities, such as participant recruitment.
    • Oversee vendor solicitations, and negotiate with and procure selected vendors.
    • Develop and manage event and project workplans, agendas, run of show documents, and other resource and guidance materials, or oversee the delegation of these tasks.
    • Support or manage discreet projects under the guidance of program teams.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization and across a wide range of project teams in support of disseminating leadership and entrepreneurship technical knowledge, understanding that the role will shift depending on the project being supported.
    • Conduct research and outreach to ensure that IREX and IREX-implemented programs benefit from the latest trends and developments in entrepreneurship development theory and practice.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders in the entrepreneurship development sector toward enriching IREX leadership programs and initiatives. 
    • In collaboration with Practice leadership and SPU, conduct outreach to organizations and individuals in support of IREX’s leadership portfolio. 
    • Manage the preparation of outreach materials, event logistics documents, and reporting on events, webinars, and other projects as assigned. 
    • Connect IREX staff focused on leadership and entrepreneurship work with internal and external entrepreneurship development resources. 
    • Provide entrepreneurship technical assistance for new business development and in support of maintaining current programming.
    • Contribute to new business efforts such as supporting proposal research and writing, concept note idea generation, and other tasks as requested.
    • Support sponsorship and partnership development activities in support of other Practice programs including identifying prospective partners, outreach, negotiating partnerships/sponsorships, and maintaining relationships.
    • Manage the sourcing of keynote speakers, panelists, and facilitators for a range of in-person and virtual events including webinars, summits, and other events. 
    • Ensure activities and initiatives under your management are compliant with IREX and federal procurement and financial management policies and procedures as applicable.
    • Ensure that procurements are compliant with internal processes.
    • Manage payments to vendors and consultants.
    • Manage program budgets, including monitoring that procurements are in line with available budget and tracking expenditures; and support revenue collection systems and record keeping as necessary. 
    • Provide entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship development technical support to the Practice, project, and event teams as assigned.
    • Manage staff formally and informally as assigned.
    • Provide management and other program support to teams during staff transitions and busy periods. 
    • Other support duties as needed.

    Senior Activity Manager, Communities and Governance Practice

    Your Background & Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred. 
    • Minimum 10+ years of progressive job experience, or a master’s degree and 9+ years of experience. 
    • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership for donor-funded youth development programming in Africa, Latin America, Asia, or the Middle East and North Africa. Familiarity with USAID is useful. 
    • Demonstrated partner management experience, particularly with local, youth-led and grassroot organizations. Track record of building collaboration and strengthening capacities to achieve goals. 
    • Excellent ability to communicate effectively on the technical aspects of implementation related to cross-sectoral youth development with a wide variety of stakeholders. 
    • Ability to simplify complex and technical concepts and package these into capacity strengthening trainings and mentorship sessions for both activity managers and partners. 
    • Proven track record of working effectively with other projects, youth, civil society, government, and other international partners. 
    • Demonstrated technical knowledge in cross-sectoral positive youth development.
    • Experience in any of the following is a plus: implementation research, gender equality and social inclusion, protection, knowledge mobilization/knowledge management, capacity strengthening. 
    • Excellent virtual and in-person facilitation skills for diverse stakeholders, especially for meaningful and inclusive youth engagement. 
    • Proven experience managing multiple complex programming in a demanding, time-sensitive work environment. 
    • Ability to plan both strategically and creatively to meet program objectives. Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated flexibility. 
    • Strong representational, writing and organizational skills. 
    • Learning and growth mindset.  
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). 
    • Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in English required. Other language skills, particularly French and/or Spanish, are a plus. 
    • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in Kenya.

     Your Daily Tasks

    • Engage with Youth Excel staff team, consortium, and donor to give input in setting and adapt program strategy and goals. Contribute to annual work planning, reporting, learning & adaptation, deliverables, and communications. 
    • In collaboration with activity managers and technical leads, create and oversee implementation of a standardized but flexible, contextualizable, and responsive approach to partner onboarding, technical support, and capacity strengthening for implementation of Youth Excel technical approaches across discrete Youth Excel activities, in support of partners’ providing high-quality, timely deliverables.  
    • Lead periodic internal learning and reflection activities among Youth Excel activity managers to foster a culture of adaptive practice and continuous improvement.
    • Serve as Activity Manager directly monitoring assigned activities and partners and provide oversight and support to other activity managers in managing their assigned activity in a holistic, responsive, technically sound way. 
    • Directly supervise assigned staff, who may include Activity Managers or other team members. 
    • Spearhead development of youth-friendly, clear, concise, and cohesive technical guidance, training, and tools.  Ensure easy accessibility on internal and external platforms.  
    • Socialize technical materials to build shared understanding and expectations. Test and refine effective delivery methods for high-touch and low-touch technical support and capacity strengthening for diverse partners.  
    • Maintain strong working relationships that foster equity, transparency, and collaboration with diverse partners, participants, donors, and other stakeholders.
    • Develop inclusive communications and facilitation approaches to build trust and a positive learning environment at program meetings, trainings, and events.
    • Represent program to internal and external stakeholders at the local, regional, and global level through meetings, presentations, conferences, and other events and communications.
    • May co-author and publish articles and thought pieces on behalf of Youth Excel.
    • Support the mobilization of buy-in funding by pitching the program and co-creating new activities with different offices and country missions across USAID.
    • Co-lead recruitment of new program partners by contributing to the design of new activities and funding opportunities, development of requests for applications, technical evaluation of proposals, and subgrant planning. Specifically responsible for ensuring that Activity Managers co-lead these processes and that subgrant development is fully responsive to activity goals and global Youth Excel technical approaches.
    • May contribute to IREX new business development.
    • Ensure alignment of activity and partner workplans with budgets in collaboration with finance and grants team. Optimize technical support and capacity strengthening strategies in line with available resources and priorities.
    • Manage consulting agreements for targeted technical expertise.
    • Mentor activity managers and strengthen capacities for technical design, writing, training, and partner and program management.
    • Supervise assigned staff.
    • Other support duties as needed.

    Deputy Project Director, Information and Media Practice

    Your Background & Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field required, master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum 5+ years of progressive job experience.
    • Excellent ability to communicate effectively on the technical aspects of implementation with a wide variety of stakeholders.
    • Proven track of working effectively with other projects, media and civil society, high-level host country host government counterparts, and other international partners.
    • Must possess the technical, managerial and communication skills to assume all related responsibilities of the COP position on a full-time basis if needed.

    Your Daily Tasks

    • Responsible for day-to-day program administration, including managing all field-based staff.
    • Lead technical implementation and guide the DS360 Project phase 3 as a whole, alongside Project Director/Senior Technical Advisor II.
    • Responsible for beneficiary and donor relationships including field staff beneficiary management and communications.
    • Assist Project Director/Senior Technical Advisor II with new business development and internal (IREX) project collaboration with other organizational programs and functions.
    • Support the Project Director/Senior Technical Advisor II in budgeting, costs, and compliance issues as needed.
    • Other support duties as needed.
