    Project Manager

    Job Description

    Purpose of the position:

    • To provide programmatic and technical management in successful implementation of MNCP grant aimed at contributing to improved children wellbeing outcomes within the project area.
    • To effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.

    Major Responsibilities:

    Project Management 40%

    • Ensure project activities and implemented as per project budget, scope and schedule
    • In liaison with project accountant initiate monthly review of project work plans and budgets to ensure project in on track
    • In liaison with project accountant ensure project costs are charged and reported in time
    • Ensure project implementation is within ±10% every month
    • Lead the development of tools to ensure project implementation is on track among them: Detailed Implementation plan, and work plans
    • Provide leadership to staff for delivery of results
    • Ensure quality, reporting and documentation of the results
    • Provide leadership on planning and implementation of the nutrition grant project
    • Ensure that nutrition interventions are integrated with other projects in the programme
    • Ensure effective integration of gender, child protection, disability, Christian commitment and advocacy into nutrition grant

    Design Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation 25%

    • Lead the development of the design and ensure compliance to WVK,
    • GoK and donor guidelines and standards
    • Contextualize/adopt design guidelines and utilize at the Project/ADP level
    • Ensure timely mobilization and effective communication with
    • communities and stakeholders during baselines and evaluations
    • Ensure integration of sustainability planning in the project design
    • Ensure timely development and submission of quality reports (weekly to biweekly sitreps, monthly management reports, Semi-annual Annual in line with WV/donor reporting guidelines.
    • Liaise with National Office Technical Specialists for the technical aspects of the project design
    • Ensure monthly monitoring of project indicators and facilitate regular reflections on monitoring practice to make improvements
    • Ensure monthly updating of project outputs in reporting systems: Horizon, community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and Health Information System(DHIS)
    • Contribute to evaluation planning, support data collection, analysis and interpretation of nutrition data
    • Facilitate dissemination and use assessments and evaluations findings and lead the implementation of recommendations
    • Analyze and utilize nutrition data from MOH Health Information and CMAM and Systems take appropriate programming decisions
    • Coordinate surveys and assessments conducted within the project area
    • In collaboration with project team identify, document and disseminate promising practices on nutrition within the grant
    • Convene forums for sharing and learning while involving project stakeholders.
    • Support Ministry of Health monitoring and evaluation systems

    Capacity Building 10%

    • Identification and sharing of capacity building gaps among nutrition
    • project staff and partners Lead the capacity building initiatives for staff, communities and partners to enable them effectively advocate for and implement project interventions.
    • Ensure ongoing coaching and mentoring of project staff and MoH staff to be able perform achieve results.

    Engagement & networking 20%

    • Represent WVK in nutrition stakeholder meetings county and sub-county levels key among them county
    • In liaison with county health team lead the county nutrition technical forum and county multi-stakeholder forums
    • Engaging with county executive, county legislature, ministry of health as sub-county or county level to influence resource allocation nutrition
    • Map resource mobilization opportunities at local level and develop concepts and proposals in collaboration with regional and national office teams.
    • Ensure close working collaboration with key Government line ministries and other likeminded partners.

    Others 5%

    • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee

    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

    The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

    • Bachelors’ degree in Nutrition or its equivalent.
    • Must be registered with the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute.
    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in nutrition programming at community level, two of which must be in a supervisory level.
    • Good understanding of Ministry of health systems, nutrition programming, standards and guidelines
    • Experience working with Ministries of Health structures at county and national levels and networking with other partners

    Other competencies

    • Must have good oral and written communications and relationship skills
    • Ability to take initiatives, team player who is able to work with minimum supervision
    • Good computer skills in MS office (Excel, word, PowerPoint), Skype, etc.
    • Must be willing to perform other duties as required
    • Familiar with current nutrition programming

    Regional Auditor

    Purpose of the Position

    To provide an independent objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the organizations operations. This will be done by using a systematic approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal control and governance processes of the Organization.

    Must prove high standards of professional and social ethics and will conduct regional engagements of varying size and complexity, provide support for planning for the various phases of the field work, carry out audit work as assigned by the Regional Senior Auditor or Regional Audit Manager, provide a summary of audit findings, criteria, risks and recommendations.

    Responsibilities

    Technical Execution

    Planning

    • Participate in the Annual Planning process: contribute to the preparation of the annual audit plan as will be directed by the Regional Audit Manager (RAM).
    • Active engagement with senior management staff within the NOs in order to gain a good understanding of their business and ensure the efficient execution of assigned audits.
    • Ensure the preparation of pre – audit information and coordinate receipt of information from the auditees before the fieldwork.

    Audit Execution

    • Conduct detailed risk-based audit work and document findings of all allocated assignments within prescribed Audit Plan time lines.
    • Provide role of Advisor to Senior Leadership in absence of/ as may be delegated from time to time by RSIA or RAM.
    • Review follow up evidence of implementation of audit findings as per auditee audit implementation plan to ensure audit matters arising are fully resolved.

    Ensure WV GIA quality standards are maintained, which includes but is not limited to

    • Timely audit binder setup and technical execution of audits (planning to completion) in Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) system.
    • Develop and submit timely audit work and draft findings to Regional Senior Internal Auditor (RSIA) for review.
    • Ensure timely resolution of audit review feedback from RSIA.

    Professional Development

    • Maintain Continuing Education (CPE) by attending online courses or professional seminars and trainings. The incumbent should maintain a minimum of 40 units per year.

    Other

    • Provide regular capacity building to Management Teams within NO Portfolios assigned, regarding RBIA and enterprise risk management during field work, and at designated training forums planned by Management.
    • Support and implement the Global Internal Audit (GIA) initiatives deemed to increase the internal audit team effectiveness and efficiency.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Required

    • Bachelor degree in Audit, Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • Professional audit certifications (ACCA/CPA/CIA) finalized or in advanced stage of certification process.
    • Must be able to effectively work with new and changing situations including new regulations; where there may not always be a readily apparent solution.
    • Excellent presentation, analytical, interpersonal, time management, research, and communications skills.
    • Maintain a current knowledge base of audit industry practices and to ensure best practices as always considered.
    • Perform all assigned audit duties in a manner that reflects the highest professional standards and complies with the guidelines of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
    • Considerable knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
    • Good analytical, interpersonal, time management, research, and communications skills.
    • Must have prior working experience in audit (Public or private) of not less than three years in a recognized organization, two of which should be at a senior supervisory level. Experience in accredited audit firms and/or in a Non-Governmental organization will be an added advantage.
    • Proven experience in Risk Based Auditing.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence others and establish credibility with business partners.
    • Cross cultural and multi faith experience.
    • Exposure to various accounting systems.
    • University degree in Commerce, Accounting/Business Management/Finance.
    • Be a qualified CPA or ACCA with an up-to-date membership status.
    • CIA certification finalized or in progress.
    • Good command of the English Language, written and communication skills in particular. Knowledge of French/Spanish would be an added advantage.

    • Strategic thinker with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Computer skills (office application, accounting systems is a plus).
    • Working knowledge in Audit software packages.
    • Must be honest and hardworking, with proven experience in dealing with management at a senior level and be disciplined leader. Experience in a multicultural setting is highly desirable.
    • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
    • Attend and participate/ in devotions and Chapel services.
    • A working knowledge of WVI business and systems, including computerized accounting systems such as Sun System.

    Work Environment

    • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time. This travel includes fragile context operational areas within the Region.

    WASH Officer

    Purpose of the position

    To coordinate and provide technical support to ADPs to ensure the successful implementation of all Regional level WASH and Construction interventions that directly contribute to the attainment of child wellbeing outcomes in the two allocated regions. The incumbent will oversee implementation of WASH & Construction projects, mobilize appropriate resources, coordinate DM&E issues of WASH & Construction related activities and undertake capacity building of WASH & Construction staff in the two regions.

    To successfully do so, the Regional WASH Officer must be able to effectively communicate World Visions Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.

    Responsibilities

    Technical support 40%

    • Provide innovative and strategic leadership, effective management and timely administrative support for all regional related WASH and Construction interventions in the two regions;
    • Ensure that business processes, standards and guidelines related to WASH and Construction initiatives are in place and effectively implemented and adhered to within the two Regions.
    • Coordinate with the National WASH and Construction coordinators to effectively support WASH and Construction projects to carry out assessments, designs, measurements of construction and in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures
    • Coordinate with relevant line ministries and other relevant departments in providing technical support and assistance to all WASH and Construction projects
    • Oversee Implementation of WASH and Construction projects to ensure quality, effectiveness and timely implementation towards realization of WVK Strategy for child wellbeing.
    • Ensure that all WASH interventions within the two regions meet or exceed planned outcomes and are implemented in full compliance with WVK, GOK, WHO, SPHERE and other relevant partnership and international standards and guidelines;
    • Collaborate with the NO WASH to provide ADPs with the appropriate technical orientation needed to achieve child wellbeing outcomes;

    Quality Assurance -Design Monitoring, Evaluation and budget Utilization 30%

    • Provide technical support during, Assessment, Planning, Designing, baselines, monitoring, reporting and evaluation
    • Supports ADP staff to monitor timely and appropriate utilization of budgeted resources for all WASH interventions in the region
    • Review WASH and construction reports for the two regions
    • Review all engineering surveys, assessments, evaluations, studies, designs and terms of reference and bills of quantities within the region
    • Conduct regular field monitoring visits
    • Monitor budget utilization of all WASH projects in the two region
    • Provide documentation of WASH & Construction best practices and approaches for donor engagement.
    • Facilitate regional annual reflection meeting with all sector specific staff from Programmes and Grant projects

    Advocacy, Engagement with strategic partners, Linkages and networks & partnership development 10%

    • Support WASH Projects and promote advocacy on issues through development of position papers and policy briefs for Advocacy at the County Levels.
    • Support WASH staffs at the regional level to successfully engage with key internal and external stakeholders
    • Support WASH Projects to ensure that the key laws, polices, regulations and government service delivery standards in the Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, and all other Livelihoods and Resilience sub-sectors are shared, interpreting and explained to communities
    • Support in ensuring that specific focus is given to sharing, interpreting and explaining to communities all the Devolution related laws.
    • Support the WASH Projects to build a Strong evidence for advocacy.

    Resources Acquisition 10%

    • Support development of technically sound funding proposals through provision of information & data and review in collaboration with ADP Managers, other sector specialists.

    Capacity Development 5%

    • Facilitate proper understanding of WASH policies, standards, business processes and procedures.
    • Facilitate capacity building of staff and communities in WASH programming and implementation of WASH and Construction projects as well as promoting relevant advocacy on WASH issues

    Others 5%

    • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee

    Qualifications

    The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

    • Must have a Bachelors degree in a relevant field from a recognized University preferably Civil Engineering or higher national Diploma in Civil/Water Engineering.
    • Minimum 5 years experience for those with BSc. And 10 years for those with Higher national Diploma with regards to the designing, planning, implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development with bias in WASH and construction projects;
    • Minimum least 2 years experience in leadership position
    • Must be results orientated leader who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands and;
    • Good public relations skills
    • Must be a strong team player.

    • Must be a committed Christian who is able to stand above denominational and cultural diversity challenges;
    • Must be able to provide spiritual leadership within but not limited to chapel and daily devotions;
