    Clerk Typist Grade III/IV

    Duties and responsibilities of a Clerk Typist will entail: –

    • Receiving visitors.
    • Handling incoming and outgoing mails.
    • Receiving incoming telephone calls.
    • Drafting memos/letters.
    • Keeping the chairman’s diary.
    • In-charge of filing in the chairman’s Office.
    • Ordering and issuing of stationery for central stores and keeping the stock bins.

    Chief Internal Auditor – Grade 15

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the development, implementation, and review of internal audit policies, strategies, procedures, and plans in accordance with University Internal Audit Functions.
    • Providing lead in the review of budgetary performance, financial management, transparency, and accountability mechanisms and processes in the University.
    • Providing assurance on the state of risk management, control, and governance within the University.
    • Ensuring compliance with internal policies, procedures, statutory, and regulatory requirements in the University.
    • Evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls on financial and non-financial performance management systems within the University.
    • Overseeing the review of the effectiveness of the University’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
    • Liaising with the Office of the Auditor General to ensure the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations.
    • Providing secretariat services to the audit and risk committee of the Council.
    • Facilitating internal audit client’s customer satisfaction survey.
    • Providing lead in the design and implementation of Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme (QAIP).
    • Facilitating benchmarks on best practices and researching emerging issues in internal audit.
    • Spearheading the development and implementation of the division’s strategic plans, budgets, performance contracts, and staff performance appraisal.
    • Ensuring compliance with principles of good governance, transparency, and integrity, and mentoring, coaching, and developing staff in the Department.
    • Carry out a full audit cycle on University Operation effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable government directives and regulations.
    • Analyze and evaluate reports, data, and any other relevant documentation from the Finance Department and recommend how procedures and processes can be made more effective.
    • Facilitate the development and implementation of the yearly Internal Audit plan
    • Provide Management with reports on internal audit activities and engagements, as may be required.
    • Provide quarterly reports to the University Council Audit Committee to facilitate decision-making.
    • Carry out investigative audits as may be requested by Management from time to time.
    • Liaise with external auditors in both interim and final audits, for an external opinion of the financial affairs of Kenyatta University.

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree in Financial Management or any other relevant area from a registered and recognized institution
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Management, or any equivalent from a registered and recognized institution
    • CPA (K), ACCA, Certified Internal Auditor, or the equivalent qualification.
    • At least five years of working experience as a Senior Finance Manager in a reputable organization.
    • Registered with the relevant professional body.

    Risk Manager Grade 13

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the development and implementation of a university-wide risk management framework.
    • Maintain a centralized live risk register covering strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, supply chain, environmental, and reputational risks.
    • Facilitate risk assessments across all University Operations.
    • Provide risk insights to University Management to support strategic decision-making.
    • Present risk dashboards and mitigation plans to the Chief Internal Auditor.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

    • Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), or any other international risk certification.
    • Ten (10) years of relevant experience, with at least three (3) years at a managerial level.

    Risk Officer — Grade C/D

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in the development and implementation of the University-wide risk management framework.
    • Conduct risk assessments across all University Operations.
    • Support the Risk Manager in ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor changes in legislation and emerging risks affecting the higher education sector and make a report to the Chief Internal Auditor.
    • Oversee risk controls within all University operations.
    • Participate in the development and/or review of whistleblowing and ethics frameworks.
    • Oversee incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
    • Liaise with the Risk Manager in developing, testing, and monitoring the University’s Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and disaster recovery arrangements.

    Qualification and Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.

    Senior Technician – Quality Assurance Section (Grade E/F)

    Qualifications and Experience

    • MSc. Degree from a registered and recognized University in any of the following areas of specialization: Analytical Chemistry or Natural Products Chemistry.
    • BSc. Degree from a recognized University
    • KSCE mean Grade C+ (plus) or equivalent and above.
    • Have at least three (3) years of relevant working experience in a busy Teaching, Research, or Quality Control Laboratory.
    • Experience in operating analytical equipment such as LC-MS/MS, GC/MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, HPTLC, and XRF will be a desirable advantage.
    • Be computer literate.

    While reporting to the Director, NPRC, the successful candidate will be expected to:

    • Oversee the day-to-day running of the QA laboratories.
    • Prepare and review standard operating procedures, documents, and records as prescribed by ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
    • Ensure proper handling of all samples before instrumental analysis.
    • Carry out chemical analysis using analytical instruments such as LC-MS/MS, GC/MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, HPTLC, XRF.
    • Oversee good laboratory practices in the general laboratory.
    • Develop analytical methods for application in natural products analysis.
    • Perform data analysis and interpretation of analytical results and ensure the correctness of the results.
    • Ensure both periodic and routine inspection of laboratory instruments and documentation of certificates from external calibrations.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • BSc. Degree from a Registered and recognized University in any of the following areas of specialization: Botany, Applied Biology, or Plant Sciences.
    • KSCE mean Grade C+ (plus) or equivalent and above.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Certificate from a registered and recognized institution in any of the following areas of specialization: Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering.

    Endowment Officer Grade 11

    The Endowment Officer, under the guidance of the Director, shall be responsible for:

    • Establishing the Endowment Office structures, including systems, processes, and operational frameworks.
    • Developing and implementing endowment-related policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures in alignment with University statutes and governance structures.
    • Providing financial and technical support in the formulation and execution of endowment fundraising and resource mobilization strategies.

    • At least five (5) years of working experience in fundraising, development work, partnerships, or resource mobilization.

    Development Officer Grade 11

    Key Responsibilities

    The officer will work under the guidance of the Director to:

    • Develop and implement fundraising strategies and annual development plans
    • Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with donors, sponsors, alumni, and partners
    • Prepare funding proposals, grant applications, and donor reports.
    • Coordinate fundraising events, campaigns, and alumni engagement initiatives
    • Maintain accurate donor records and databases.

    Refrigeration Technician Grade A/B

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Maintaining, installing, and servicing refrigeration cold rooms
    • Troubleshooting and overhauling ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
    • Monitor body refrigerators’ temperature every morning for corrective action to avoid decomposition of bodies.
    • Repair body refrigerators in case of breakdown.
    • Repair and service of the air conditioning at the Funeral Home.
    • Ensure all the extract and Suction Fans are working.
    • Lubrication of dressing tables and hydraulic lifter machines.
    • Assist in the repair of the hydraulic system at the Funeral Home.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or any related field from a recognized institution.
    • A mean grade of C (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) or its equivalent.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • At least two years of experience in handling body fridges in a Funeral Home.
