    Lead UI/UX Designer

    Job Summary

    • To design, develop and implement all user interface and user experience aspects across all the bank’s digital platforms with the aim of ensuring seamless customer interaction with the bank’s digital products. The role will work closely with product development teams, project delivery, system developers and other relevant teams to gather business requirements and translate them to appealing features, logical and effective conceptual design models and ultimately to deliver these end-to-end. The role will also oversee development and application of UI/UX design standards, principles, and best practices across all digital platforms.

    Key accountabilities/Deliverables/Outcomes
    UI/UX Design (40%)

    • Creating user-centred designs by understanding business requirements and user feedback.
    • Creating user-inflows, wireframes, prototypes, mock-ups, and task flows that align with user requirements.
    • Translating requirements into style guides, design systems, design patterns and attractive user interfaces.
    • Designing UI elements such as input controls, navigational components, and informational components.
    • Creating original graphic designs (e.g., Images, sketches, and tables)
    • Identifying and troubleshooting UX challenges and employing innovative approaches to solve these challenges, such as enhancing responsiveness, usability, and findability.
    • Incorporating customer feedback, usage metrics and usability findings into design to enhance user experience.
    • Translate strategic initiatives into delivery-focused change initiatives, while translating business processes and issues into effective conceptual and logical models.
    • Participate in identifying fit for purpose technologies solutions for the bank’s technology estate.

    Business Analysis & Liaison (30%)
    Single point of contact for business units to:

    • Identify service needs for the Business Units presented to IT
    • Collaborating effectively with product managers, system developers and other teams to develop user-friendly and intuitive software interfaces.
    • Translate documented business requirements into functional technical designs for development/implementation.
    • Independently manage conflict among diverse cross portfolio stakeholders related to competing interests and requirements. Able to help stakeholders objectively examine real needs versus wants and ways to collaborate to achieve win/win resolutions.
    • Communicate solution design and projects’ status to Business Units

    Risk Management (10%)

    • Build relationship with country Technology Risk and Compliance team and provide support wherever required.
    • Contribute to the improvement of the risk profile by delivering improved governance, risk management, controls, and compliance requirements.
    • Devise and implement an effective plan to deliver a satisfactory risk and audit profile for Operations & IT and achieve audit and assurance targets.

    People Management (10%)

    • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching.
    • Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
    • Manage, lead & mentor Solution Architects & Business Analysts in their day-to-day work and
    • professional development.
    • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Accelerator programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.
    • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognized.
    • Participate in the creation and implementation of Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) actions for the team.

    Controls (Mandatory for all roles) (10%)

    • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards. Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role

    Role/person specification
    Preferred Qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, Master preferred.
    • Five (5+) years’ experience as a UI UX Designer as well as a strong portfolio of related projects or case studies preferably in the financial services industry
    • Certification in Design, or degree/diploma in Design, Fine Arts, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in design software like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Miro, InDesign, Photoshop Sketch and InVision.
    • Basic HTMLS, CSS3 and JavaScript skills
    • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture.

    • Analytical mindset with a business-oriented perspective.

    Software Quality Assurance Analyst

    Job Summary

    • The role-holder will co-ordinate all quality control activities and testing activities across different systems and ongoing projects to ensure all quality assurance measures are meticulously adhered to. He/she will be responsible for quality and test planning while overseeing the preparation activities for quality control and testing within a system or project implementation, this is achieved by development of quality control tasks and test scripts to ensure comprehensive coverage of all aspects of the implementation and testing activities.

    Key accountabilities/Deliverables/Outcomes

    Software Quality Management (40%)

    • Develop, implement, and maintain software quality assurance standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Organize, manage, and assist manual and automated software testing to ensure minimal production defect leaks.
    • Partner with Product Managers, Developers, and other stakeholders to design, develop, and apply innovative test solutions for software applications.
    • Regularly review and refine quality engineering processes to keep pushing the boundary of efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Follow the latest industry trends and tools and invent new test approaches or propose improvements to the existing systems to improve software quality.
    • Provide technical expertise in test infrastructure, automation framework, test strategy, and best testing practices.
    • Maintain and continuously improve existing test development processes and practices.
    • Accountability for the Quality of software released into the banks production environments
    • Participate in efforts to standardize the QA tools, including defect tracking, test case management, resource and dependency tracking.
    • Participate in all SCRUM events, including Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, daily stand-up and Sprint Review
    • Participate in the development of release and deployment plans to ensure smooth software release with minimal interruption of service.
    • Participate in QA process improvement initiatives.

    Software Testing (35%)

    • Triage and analyse defects to identify gaps in test coverage and improvements in the team’s processes.
    • Hunt bugs, identify issues, report them, and manage the resolution process and release of software and features.
    • Ensure non-functional items such as scalability, operability are addressed during the testing phase of software development.
    • Report software product health according to the data gathered during the product release checkpoints.
    • Ensure 100% test coverage across modules/platforms/releases by reviewing existing test cases & test plans.
    • Organize and manage manual and automated test case libraries.
    • Compile and review the Testing Deliverables
    • Conduct installation procedure tests.
    • Participate in functional, performance, and integration testing exercises.
    • Coordinate user acceptance testing.
    • Coordinate back out testing.
    • Conduct supporting documentation review.

    Lead Solution Architect

    Job Summary

    • To design and develop business solutions and capabilities in alignment with the bank's IT architecture strategy and framework, with a focus on digital native technologies. The role will act as technical lead for the design and development of complex systems, platforms, and major technology projects, and will provide technical direction and proposals to meet business requirements, cover existing functionality gap and provide technical solutions to problems and opportunities by utilizing new and existing technology assets.

    Solutions Architecture Design (35%)

    The prime responsibility is for designing technical solutions in collaboration with various business and technical teams.

    The accountability also has a responsibility of analysing business requirements against existing technology assets for identification of fit for purpose solutions.

    • Designs enterprise solutions and capabilities that are scalable, adaptable, and in synchrony with the ever-changing business needs in alignment with the bank’s architecture strategy, policies, standards, and procedures.
    • Contributes to the reduction in IT complexity, enforcement of discipline and standardization of defined architecture standards to ensure better interoperability of systems and services.
    • Documents and communicates architectural requirements for solutions and capabilities.
    • Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical teams to recommend solutions to improve it.
    • Support project management by providing technical oversight on projects and ensure that requirements are in alignment with business strategies and business architecture roadmap/framework.

    • Sound knowledge of various operating systems (Linux, AIX, Solaris, Windows) and databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres, and NoSQL DBs)

    • DevOps/CICD software lifecycle management experience
    • Experience in designing solutions for hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud). Cloud certification is an added advantage.
