    Talent Acquisition

    Key Role Responsibilities

    • Work with recruitment agencies to successfully recruit all key/required skills into the organization within agreed SLA aligned to approved workforce plans
    • Act as a talent advisor and influence and guide the business with knowledge, insights and expertise of external markets.
    • Conduct intake meetings with Hiring Managers to confirm the desired profile and develop a sourcing strategy for the open position. You drive progress and you always have
    • Drive a high volume of roles, stay connected to a robust pipeline of candidates, maintain long-term candidate relationships, and energetically sell the role and MPA mission and brand
    • Develop diversity of business talent pools on gender, physically challenged
    • Review against all vacancies within account managed, our internal talent pool to place ready now talent into vacant roles before going out for external recruitment
    • Create an exceptional experience along the entire candidate journey
    • End-to-end responsibility for the recruitment system, data quality, and compliance.
    • Manage relationships with external providers including recruiting firms, institutions of higher learning, background checkers, etc.
    • Produce reports and statistical data as required to include weekly reporting on recruitment initiatives, talent identified and placed, and challenges faced; Monthly reports – against workforce plan and other key performance indicators
    • Employer brand and Employer Value Proposition: Ensure the employer brand is fully leveraged and embedded in talent acquisition touchpoints (including candidate and vendor interactions).

    Talent Management

    • Oversee the continued rollout of a consistent Performance Management process that focuses employee efforts on the achievement of business goals and attainment of requisite skills/competencies to sustain profitable growth.
    • Administer talent processes that focus on building bench strength to meet current and future business needs. In this regard, define critical roles for succession planning as well as facilitate and support succession planning initiatives and deliberately build strong talent benches for such roles.

    Apply If You Have

    • Bachelor’s Degree and Higher National Diploma in HRM or CHRP-k
    • Over 5yrs of experience in conducting competency-based interviewing and assessment centers as selection tools
    • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS)
    • Experience in coaching staff and line managers on best recruitment and selection principles/practices and interviewing skills
    • Good stakeholder management experience
    • Agile, Innovative, pragmatic, commercial, and customer-focused approach
    • Knowledge of / exposure to relevant employment legislation (e.g. data protection)
    • Executive-level reporting and influence experience
    • Understanding of Labor laws related to talent acquisition across different regions.

    Engineer – Telco & IT DCN - Planning and Design

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Principal Engineer –Telco DCN Planning and Designthe position holder will be responsible for Planning and deploying;

    • The Telco Data Centre Networks, The VAS, OSS and Financial Services Network, Machine to Machine networks for the Core and Access Network Elements(MSSs, MGWs and BSCs  projects/solutions, Inter/Intra Telco  and IT  Data centre connectivity, Customer Care and Retail Shops connectivity to Centralized resources.
    • He/ She will be part of the team that Covers the technical deployment and integrity of the solution, customer satisfaction and success. Documenting of project and   the designs thereof. Delivery of customer solutions, along with corresponding documentation, and provision and development of the technical design for handover to support team.

    Responsibilities

    Planning, design and optimization of the Telco and IT Data Centre Networks infrastructure  to support Safaricom requirements needs for Office Automation, Retail Shops  and Care Centers connectivity and the Telecommunications Elements connectivity  :

    • Delivery of timely and quality Telco and IT DC Solutions as per business demands/needs.
    • Planning and Design in accordance with project schedule and with cognizance to pertinent constraints of capacity thresholds, reliability etc.
    • Delivery of future proof Telco and IT DCN Solution plans to meet current as well as long term requirements
    • Compilation of Telco and IT DCN topologies, Network Diagrams, schematics and floor layout plans
    • Planning and Overseeing resources to conduct surveys and implementation plans that ensures timely implementation as per the project timelines
    • DCN design and implementation plans that saves on CAPEX and OPEX requirements
    • Maintenance of Accurate IP address Schemes for use in expansions and new integrations
    • Compilation and validation of all internal requests and incorporation of  the same  into Solution/ project design

    Budgeting, Supplier Management and Quality Assurance;

    • Budget estimation to meet Business requirements Capex budget justifications
    • Review of BOQs against the designs for the DCN solutions
    • Monitoring capacity threshold to ensure proactive upgrades are done to meet growing needs
    • Reliability of planned design to achieve accurate, timely and economical delivery
    • Liaison with implementation and support teams to ensure rollout follows the design and meets both the business and engineering specifications
    • Definition of network KPIs , SLAs and acceptance procedures for new Services and management of service Transition to Support teams

    Database management, Documentation and process improvements;

    • Ensuring (overall ownership) of accurate, up-to date database documentation on DCN   planning, design, implementation and capacity planning,
    • Keeping accurate current infrastructure database for static and dynamic capacities
    • Adhere to the existing processes in workflow management.
    • Scheduled periodical audit function of on-ground data against database
    • Process review and recommendation on process improvement

    Preparation of Telco and IT DCN projects, POC bid /RFQ documents and Evaluations;

    • Learn/research on new technologies/practices in the DCN domain
    • Evaluate Reliability and cost effectiveness of trials introduced in the network and their ability to keep up with emerging technologies.
    • Running of trials/POCs and subsequent recommendations for approval
    • Development of design principles to guide future deployment

    Leadership and Resource Management;

    • Task scheduling and objective settings for self
    • Managing Telco and IT DCN resources
    • Making Critical planning, design and optimization decisions
    • Managing Capex associated with projects and developing initiatives for Opex savings

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering, IT or a closely  related  numerate  discipline
    • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a busy telecommunications environment –Involved in Strategy Modeling, Planning, Design and Optimization of DCNs
    • In-depth understanding of Telco and IT DCNs infrastructure deployment life cycle
    • Router, Switches and firewall configuration (Cisco and Huawei)
    • VPN, Remote Access and Terminal Server configuration.
    • Network design and implementation experience, including working knowledge of IP addressing.
    • TCP/IP Protocols, LAN and WAN configurations
    • Knowledge in DCN planning design and optimization tools
    • Computer literate, Analytical skills, Attention to details
    • Good Communication and interpersonal skills
    • Trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
    • Good documentation and reporting skills
    • Knowledge/Certification in Cisco/Huawei DCN solutions is and added advantage

    Product Manager - Digital content

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Tribe Lead – Digital Services. The position holder will serve the below role purpose;

    • Build and manage high quality product roadmaps based on your vision and strategy
    • Define the Vision so that the development team clearly visualize the expected outcome by the user and manage the product backlog
    • Prioritize the Product Backlog to best achieve goals, missions and maximum outcomes.
    • Oversee development to make sure that he/she is participating in the overall development stages of the product.
    • Understand the market, the competition, and the users’ pain points and use the information to determine what features should be implemented.
    • Partnering with local and global brands to identify and influence development of new products and services.

    Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

    Engineer - Database Administration

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Engineering Lead – Financial Services IT, the position holder will be responsible for Administration, Performance tuning and 3rd line support of ALL Enterprise Database (DB) Systems for systems within Financial services IT. The databases span from Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Cassandra and Hadoop related database platforms.

    Role purpose:

    • Database administration and support lifecycle including backup/recovery, automation, Maintenance.
    • Ensure 99.99% availability maintained for all critical databases.
    • Ensure tickets raised are responded to within the agreed SLA;
    • Ensure regular reviews on information lifecycle management policies is conducted.
    • Ensure optimal performance of all systems maintained conforming to the SLA agreements between business and Quality Assurance.
    • Implement open-source databases as an alternative to existing proprietary solutions. 
    • Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provided fast query performance to front end users ensuring performance of production databases.
    • Monitoring including system logs, events and correlation and maintain performance statistics and setting baseline statistics.
    • Gathering database statistics and ensuring statistics gathering jobs are scheduled so as not to affect product traffic and implementing recommendations after careful analyses.
    • Monitoring and managing high availability components such as RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM and underlying infrastructure for mission critical databases.
    • Developing, managing, and testing backup and recovery plans and ensuring storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning properly.
    • Take lead role in the various lT audits in providing necessary information and enforcing closure of audit, change management and compliance issues.
    • Manage key I.T. risks for all database systems and ensure proper mitigation.
    • Take lead role in BCP and disaster recovery preparedness through periodic testing as scheduled and update of disaster recovery procedures and sharing the results with management.
    • Team up with applications support, development and infrastructure team in the development, implementation, management applications, infrastructure, and monitor system health to proactively identify weaknesses and address them.
    • Perform database tasks such as schema design, capacity planning, maintenance,
    • Considering both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users and further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements.
    • Installing database management systems (RDBMS) using best practice; ensure compliance with RDBMS license agreements
    • Creating and maintaining database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata) and maintain all technical documentation relating to database management.
    • Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
    • Perform under limited supervision, maintain reliability of data and databases, and assisting developing and implementing standards for database maintenance and configuration.
    • Applying database patches to the various databases using a strategy that has least service impact.
    • Carrying out database upgrades to the various databases using a strategy that has least service impact.
    • Tablespace management/expansion and validating health of grid and ASM.
    • Handling database migrations from old hardware to new hardware and taking lead on the databases during projects.
    • Taking lead on database load tests and performance tuning during projects.
    • Responding to database related incidents and providing RCAs.
    • Advising on and implementing database audit strategy that doesn’t affect performance of the database.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree in Computer Science or Technical Related Field;
    • With at least 2 years hands on Experience in Managing large databases;
    • Experience in NoSQL databases, MySQL and other OpenSource databases platforms
    • Experience in Oracle RAC, Dataguard, RMAN and Engineered systems.
    • Experience in Linux/Unix and Windows Operating system.
    • Database Systems Administration Techniques – understanding of DB Performance tuning on various Operating Systems, good troubleshooting skills, Database Migration, and ILM techniques
    • Attention to details and analytical thinking.
    • Certifications –OCP, OCE; EXADATA Administration; MSSQL Server Administration; Hadoop Administration; Linux/ UNIX certification

    Knowledge in below is an added advantage.

    • Oracle Fusion and Weblogic administration
    • Cassandra, Mongo or any other NoSQL database
