    Senior Legal Counsel, Regulatory Affairs

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Representing the Group in Public policy matters and stakeholder engagement and input on legislation during drafting.
    • Regulatory Issues management (Review and analysis and position statements. Stakeholder and regulatory (includes regional/international) compliance – CBK, CMA, CA, IRA, RBA, CAK, KAMP, PRISK).
    • Legislation and regulation analysis (review and analysis, preparation of position statements and business advisory).
    • Consolidation of analysis of legislation and advisory statements (position statements and resultant action matrix).
    • Product and outsourcing regulatory approvals (Prudential guideline requirements for approval of products, outsourcing).
    • Responding to and dealing with customer complaints through regulators (CBK and CAK).
    • Group wide approach to regulatory affairs.
    • Any other duties as may be required.
    • Legislation reviews and public policy engagements.
    • Handling product related regulatory applications.      
    • Handling customer complaints through regulatory agencies. 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree - LLB
    • Professional Qualifications -Diploma in law
    • Master's Degree - LLM
    • 5 Years’ Experience Required

    Head of Sahl Banking

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the development and implementation of the unit’s business plan including development of strategies, client segmentation and marketing plans.
    • Develop, launch and manage the entire Islamic Assets and Liability Products for all corporate, SME and Retail banking segments developed around Market needs, customer perceptions and bank’s requirements
    • Develop product and overall policy for Sahl banking and in consultation with the Shariah Advisory Council to ensure continued shariah compliance of products and services of Sahl banking.
    • Develop effective risk mitigation strategies whilst ensuring compliance to the Bank’s Policies and Operations Procedures taking into consideration Shari’ah principles
    • Manage all media placements of Sahl Banking products in consultation with with Shari’ah Advisory Council to ensure shariah principles are adhered to.
    • Train, coach and develop a high performing  Sahl Banking team able to offer customers a broad range of quality Sahl Banking products and services. 
    • Assisting training department in conducting product training to all channels
    • Communicate the strategic initiatives for the Sahl banking as developed in conjunction with Retail, Markets, Regional and Executive Heads and other stakeholders within the  Group
    • Oversee the monitoring of the effectiveness and implementation of strategic initiatives to ensure delivery thereof and implement any corrective measures as and when required
    • Review balanced scorecard criteria and assign accountability in the team to measure performance of the business

    Academic & Professional

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
    • Professional Qualification: Shariah Auditor and Advisor
    • Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
    • 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
    • 5 years’ experience in Islamic Banking.
    • 3 years’ experience in Banking Operations.
    • 2 years’ experience in Bank Lending.

    Business Architect

    Job Description

    • Conduct business process improvement initiatives aimed at improving efficiencies and effectiveness. 
    • Act as a liaison to Business and IT in order to gain a broad understanding of business initiatives and their impact on technology.
    • Documentation of business requirements and processes for all business initiatives and projects.
    • Provide the leadership in breaking down, planning and sequencing the business vision & strategy into technology deliverables.
    • Liaise with the Business subject matter expert in the development of business architectural framework developing a clear roadmap of Business solutions.
    • Lead effort to work with business leaders to identify business capability needs and IT integration.
    • Facilitate the identification and analysis of the Bank’s business drivers to deliver enterprise business, information, technical and solution architecture requirements. 
    • Assess the current Business framework to detect critical deficiencies and recommend for improvement in line with the IT strategy and delivery priority of the IT/Bank programs.
    • Function as a liaison to Business and IT partners in order to gain a broad understanding of industry trends and innovations, and their impact on technology.
    • Provide an analysis to determine best path for solving business problems/opportunities that may include process improvement visa Vis information technology systems enhancement.
    • Provide architectural oversight of projects; ensure requirements are in alignment with business strategies and business architecture roadmap/framework.
    • Participate and guide on functional tests planning and execution.
    • Participate in the IT quality assurance process.

    The Person

    For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field of study.
    •  Professional Qualifications in CBAP, TOGAF OR Prince2 will be an added advantage.
    • 7 years progressive experience in Information Technology with focus on Business Analysis, Applications Architecture or Software Development.
    • 5 years’ experience in at least two IT disciplines such as (Application architecture, application development, middleware, and SOA) and Software Asset Management in a multitier environment.
    • 3 years’ experience in Operating systems (Windows, Unix).
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills with ability to breakdown complex items to manageable components.
    • Ability to liaise with all levels of management and subject matter experts across the industry and within the organization.
