About the role
We are currently looking for an Education in Emergencies Advisor – Humanitarian Surge Team to join our team. As the Education in Emergencies Advisor, you will be rapidly deployed to support education program teams and ensure that Education in Emergencies (EiE) programming is of excellent technical quality, attracts significant donor funding and contributes significantly to SC strategic objectives, national/global learning and advocacy.

You will bring to the role with you:

• Previous experience of implementing awards funded by institutional donors with medium to high levels of compliance requirements, e.g. ECHO, CIDA, USAID, OFDA, DfID.  (European donors, European Commission or Scandinavian experience is preferred.) 
• Good knowledge of key education standards, in particular INEE and demonstrated ability to set up learning and development processes in humanitarian settings.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in Education programmes in a humanitarian or development context. 

Proficiency in English and working knowledge of a second language (French, Spanish, or Arabic) is a must.

About HST
HSTs work alongside country, regional and member teams to support the scale up and management of international and domestic emergency responses, enabling positive change for children. The role of the surge staff varies depending on the needs of the response and could include: 

• deploying in the first days or hours following a natural disaster or crisis to lead the first phase of a response to sudden onset emergency; 
• supporting ongoing emergency response and recovery work through providing advice, guidance and expertise in a specific skill area; 
• providing short term interim cover for country office staff;  
• supporting delivery of capacity building initiatives.

About the role

• We are currently looking for a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Adviser – Humanitarian Surge Team to join our team. As the WASH Adviser, you will generally be deployed to the field as the lead Technical Adviser in a small or medium-sized emergency or the second phase of large emergency. You will be expected to lead on sectoral assessment, programme design and master budgeting, coordination, and support fundraising, recruitment and procurement.  You will also ensure that the programme design complements existing local capacity.
• You will bring to the role prior experience of working within a senior management role within a complex country programme in an emergency response or fragile state and managing a WASH team at national level; previous first phase emergency response experience; and previous experience of WASH project management and programme coordination, implementing WASH programmes within donor constraints, on time and within budget.
• Proficiency in English & French is a must and working knowledge of a second language (Spanish, or Arabic) is highly desirable.

About the role

We are currently looking for a Safeguarding Advisor to join our team. The Safeguarding Advisor will work functional leads to produce a plan to mitigate the key risks, likely to include building the capacity of rapidly recruited staff and new partners, identifying and ensuring integration with other programme sectors, ensuring that Safeguarding issues are raised and addressed in real-time, and work with MEAL to develop an effective child-friendly and inclusive reporting mechanism. The plan will be aligned with Save the Children’s Safeguarding standard, Core Safeguarding Operational Activities and minimum requirements and will ensure any reports of violations are reported and responded to correctly, via Datix. This role will also work closely with the Media/Comms team members, to ensure safeguarding measures are in place in relation to all media, communications work, including but not limited to content gathering, and media visits and full consent processes are followed. This will include supporting media/comms team to do risk assessments; brief visiting media and content gathers, feed into TORs and any other action required to adequately protect child participants and adults at risk.

The Safeguarding Advisor will provide regular updates on safeguarding and escalate any safeguarding issues to the SMT. He/she will also input into key funding proposals to ensure that Safeguarding risk mitigations are in place, and activities appropriately resourced.

The Safeguarding Advisor will provide guidance and, on the job, safeguarding coaching and mentoring for all staff, and will provide technical support to the relevant functions to embed safeguarding within their day-to-day operations to manage and mitigate risks. This includes ensuring partners, volunteers and suppliers who have direct contact with children and adults at risk are aware of their safeguarding responsibility, obligations to prevent harm and report and respond to any suspicions and concerns of exploitation, abuse or harm. The post holder will link with Child Protection, GBV, Child Rights Governance, Gender, Health and other relevant colleagues within Save the Children and other NGOs, to ensure a coherent child-centered, survivor and rights approach to safeguarding is applied, particularly to the prevention and response to any safeguarding concerns. The Safeguarding Advisor will receive support from the Regional Safeguarding Director, Regional HR Directors and the Centre Safeguarding Humanitarian Lead- the International Safeguarding Director. The post holder will also provide capacity strengthening support to the existing SG focal points on the ground and take part in multi-agency groups such as the PSEA taskforce, where active, relevant clusters, and work proactively with other active NGOs, especially regarding any joint reporting mechanisms or referral pathways, awareness and prevention interventions.
