    Senior Specialist, Employee Experience

    • The Senior Specialist, Employee Experience will partner with the Director, Organizational Development and Culture to design and deliver strategies, processes, and systems to continue elevating the leader and employee experience. This individual will work closely with leaders at all levels (including C-Suite) and HR Business Partners to assess, identify, and analyze levels of employee engagement, connection, satisfaction, and retention and will recommend improvement strategies to impact each of these areas. They will lead global initiatives, such as our listening strategy, innovative reward and recognition programs, and proactive action planning aimed at addressing underlying challenges that could potentially hinder our commitment to uphold organizational values and foster a culture of connection, collaboration, and well-being among leadership and employees.
    • This position may be based in countries where HFHI currently operates, such as Costa Rica, Kenya, Slovakia, the UK, and the US and requires 10% travel.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Evolve and Implement the Organizational Listening Strategy (50%)

    • Partner with Director, Organizational Development and Culture to design and implement approaches (which may include surveys) to gauge employee satisfaction, engagement, retention, and overall experience.
    • Provide leadership to the Employee Listening Working Group in establishing communication channels for employees to provide feedback and suggestions and identifying trends, strengths, and areas of improvement to the HR Business Partners and senior leadership.
    • Lead and monitor the progress of global action planning and advise the HR business partners and senior leadership team on adjusting strategies as needed.

    Building a Culture of Engagement and Effectiveness (25%)

    • Partner with Director, Organizational Development and Culture to develop and implement strategies to foster a positive and inclusive work environment that enables effectiveness.
    • Design and deliver, team-building activities, and workshops to promote engagement, collaboration leading to increased team and organizational effectiveness.

    Rewarding Employees for Upholding Organizational Values (20%)

    • In partnership with Director, Organizational Development and Culture to develop recognition and reward programs and processes that align with organizational values.
    • Create and implement programs or processes to celebrate employees who exemplify the organization’s values and goals.

    Programmatic Surveys (5%)

    • Establish and uphold the relationship with our global survey vendor.
    • Provide subject matter expertise on the design of organizational surveys based on best practices and benchmark and best in class survey approaches.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organizational Psychology or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience with elevating the employee and leader experience.
    • Experience in employee experience, HR, or organizational development.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data and make data-driven recommendations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to lead global cross- functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels – up to and including C-suite.
    • Experience in global complex project management and leading large scale change initiatives.
    • Fluency in English.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Knowledge of survey tools and methodologies and best practices.
    • Ability to execute individual and team interventions and programs.

    Volunteer Engagement Intern

    • Reporting to the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, the Volunteer Engagement Intern will work as part of the Volunteering Team to support the day- to day operations of our volunteer programmes. The intern will assist the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator with various aspects of volunteer event planning, volunteer recruitment and management, and handling in-kind donations. Tasks may include recording donations, answering volunteer inquiries, maintaining records of volunteers and their service hours, and processing donations of goods. The ideal candidate will also assist with creating invitations and programs for special volunteer events.

    DURATION OF INTERNSHIP: Six months with possibility of extension based on funding availability.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Volunteer Management Support:

    • Processing and updating volunteer records.
    • Assist in keeping volunteer database (paper and electronic) up-to-date and accurate.
    • Assisting with organization of volunteer trainings and orientations
    • Assisting with special volunteer event planning
    • Assist with scheduling of volunteer activities utilizing a variety of methods, including online sheets.
    • A variety of other regular clerical and organizational tasks that are integral to the success of a volunteer management program.
    • Assist with creating online training materials (videos, power points, evaluation forms, etc.) for volunteers.

    Communication’s support:

    • Provide support to HFHK’s communications desk with the following;
    • Conduct interviews with volunteers to gather their personal stories, experiences, and motivations for volunteering.
    • Write engaging stories and profiles highlighting the contributions of our volunteers and the impact of their work.
    • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to identify key themes and messages to convey through storytelling.
    • Capture photos and videos during volunteer builds.

    KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES / INDICATORS

    • Percentage of volunteer records processed and updated accurately within specified timeframes.
    • Volunteer feedback satisfaction scores.
    • Number of process improvements or optimizations suggested by the intern and successfully implemented.
    • Percentage of volunteer database entries that are correct and up-to-date.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Communications or any other related field.
    • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Previous experience in volunteer work is preferred.
    • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks, including maintaining volunteer records, scheduling activities, and assisting with event planning.
    • Prior experience or knowledge in event planning, including logistical coordination, venue selection, and volunteer engagement for special events.

    Construction Assistant

    • Reporting and working under the guidance of the construction supervisor, the construction assistant is responsible for the supervision of all GV construction works of all buildings in all sites in Laikipia, Tana River, Kisumu, and Machakos Counties HFHK areas of operation. The types of projects would typically be multiple, medium to small sized construction works. The construction assistant will be responsible for specific planning, management and execution of work for assigned GV construction projects. He/she will be key in forming collaboration with Subject Theme Experts for specific specialized project activities such as housing innovation and low-cost technologies, Interlocking Stabilized Soil Blocks (ISSB), fire burnt bricks, IFC blocks and any other appropriate technologies. On direct and indirect construction activities, He/she will ensure coordination and management of all key stakeholder’s construction process and serve as the focal point administrative coordination of all GV programme/project implementation activities, involving extensive liaison with departmental units to initiate finance and logistical requests, process and follow-up on administrative actions within programmes as well as manage all correspondence and documentation. He/she will also be responsible for coordination of artisans training through partners with new emerging current green technologies.

    DURATION OF CONTRACT: 1 YEAR

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Designing/Scoping of GV Construction Builds

    • Designing architectural drawings for the GV related drawings
    • Preparation of material schedules for GV builds.
    • Assist estimating GV related bills of quantity/ quotation for constructions.

    Mobilizing Stakeholders for GV Construction Builds

    • Prepare various requisition for the GV builds.
    • Mobilizing PSC and other local stakeholders for the GV builds.
    • Preparing and coordinating signing for GV artisan/masons’ contracts.
    • Ensuring all setting out works are done before actual commencement of GV builds.
    • Making sure that GV programs construction materials are received on site, kept safely, and always maintain track of the same.
    • Assisting in procurement of GV construction materials by preparing timely goods order requests to ensure there are delays.

    Supervision/implementation of GV Construction Builds

    • Supervision and coordination of GV construction works.
    • Monitoring and inspecting major project milestones together with county staff department of housing.

    Reporting on GV Construction Builds

    • Prepare, submit timely GV related payment requisitions which include PSC transport, water vendors service, tools & equipment transport service, artisans progress payments, contractors, drillers, and any other related services related to construction works.
    • Maintain GV project specific document files for all projects.
    • Coordination of GV houses completion inspection with various county department to obtain completion/occupation certificates.
    • Maintain and keep detailed records of all aspects of the works related to GV Construction Builds and provide timely reports to the Construction Supervisor
    • Keeping track of all GV construction HFHK tools and equipment and materials inventory.
    • The construction assistant shall perform any other duty as will be assigned by the Construction supervisor.

    KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES / INDICATORS

    • Number of projects successfully constructed to completion.
    • Number of community infrastructure constructed to completion.
    • Number of timely weekly and monthly donor progress and completion reports submitted to CS.
    • Number of timely goods orders raised.
    • Number of quality architectural and bill of quantities produced.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma/Degree in building, Architecture, Construction Management, civil engineering or any other equivalent.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Working knowledge of MS-Office computer packages.
    • AutoCAD/ArchiCAD computer skills added advantage.
    • An excellent command of English and Swahili.
    • Good report writing and donor presentation skills.
    • Good management and co-ordination skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player.
    • Good coordination and project monitoring skills.
    • Thorough method of working with ability to work under pressure to pursue multiple tasks simultaneously to successful conclusions.
    • Ability to live and work in an isolated area and in conditions of limited comfort.

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least three years’ work experience in equivalent position.
    • Previous work experience in an NGO or Not-For-Profit sector is an added advantage.
