    Programme Management Officer

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in natural resources management, conservation, agricultural science or a related field is required.

    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management in terrestrial ecosystem related programmes and/or projects is required.
    • At least three (3) years at the international level working with developing countries is required.
    • At least three (3) years experience working on integrated teams working on biodiversity, food, and agriculture is required.
    • Experience working with indigenous people and local communities is required.
    • Supervisory experience managing multi-cultural teams is desirable.
    • Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Languages

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and in French is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

    Social Media Consultant

    Duties

    Under the supervision of the Head of the Social Media Unit and the guidance of Chief of Digital Strategy, the consultant will perform the following duties

    The Social Media Consultant will produce compelling and innovative content designed to engage the public on issues relevant to UNEP’s mandate and provide strategic guidance on how to deliver that content to various audiences.

    • Draft content for posting on UNEP’s English-language social media channels;
    • Track performance of all social media posts created;
    • Prepare strategic social media plans for UNEP and issue-based initiatives;
    • Coordinate social media support to UNEP campaigns;
    • Coordinate social media support to UNEP scientific report launches;
    • Increase visibility for UNEP digital content.

    Qualifications/special Skills

    • A Bachelors degree in communications, international relations or a related field is required. Academic background in environmental science is desirable.
    • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in social media and digital communication or related field is required.
    • Experience with the United Nations system is desirable

    Languages

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required.

    • Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat. Successful passing of the Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) in English at the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ), Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) or International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) may be accepted in lieu of the GGST.
    • The GGST is administered to applicants when required before the administration of a written assessment and/or interview.

    Job - Specific Qualification

    • Supplemental training in administration, finance/accounts, audit, human resources management or related area is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in administrative services, finance, accounting, audit, human resources or related area is required.
    • Experience in computer applications, mainly spreadsheets is desirable.
    • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) e.g., UMOJA is desirable.
    • Working experience within a large international organization similar to the United Nations is desirable
    • One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
