    KPMG Tax Manager – Customs

    Key roles and responsibilities 

    • Provide Customs consulting support on a multitude of customs engagements. 
    • Provide expert advice to clients on any Customs matters. 
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, which include understanding their business needs and providing tailored Customs tax solutions. 
    • Lead business development activities aimed at growing the business portfolio and revenues from Customs related services. 
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on Customs tax matters and address their queries and concerns promptly. 
    • Keep abreast of Customs trends and best practices in tax planning and compliance. 
    • Supervise and mentor junior tax professionals, providing guidance on technical matters and fostering professional development. 
    • Prepare and present clear and concise reports on tax related matters to clients and other stakeholders. 
    • Lead in thought leadership through writing articles and participating in activities aimed at brand enhancement. 
    • Perform engagement management activities including engagement set up, resource planning, billing analysis, invoicing and collection. 
    • Negotiate tax rulings.
    •  Help clients develop and implement effective Customs and trade management strategy. 
    • Simultaneously implement multiple projects which involves client interviews, computations, analysis, data gathering and coordination of KPMG and client resources 
    • Draft opinion letters, responses to Revenue Authority inquiries, Revenue Authority ruling requests and other technical memoranda. 
    • Liaise with client’s finance/accounting/logistics departments and tax advisors to gather pertinent facts for analysis of tax risks. 
    • Research and consult on various Customs tax matters to build technical competence, develop business and industry expertise. 
    • Manage work in progress, billings and debtors for own client portfolio. 
    • Any other duties as may be assigned.

    Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience: 

    • Business related Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. 
    • Post Graduate Diploma/ Masters in Customs or any professional qualification in Customs from an accredited college/university are highly desirable.
    •  Any professional qualification in Taxation from an accredited college/university will be an added advantage. 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access along with experience performing internet research. 
    • A minimum of seven years of tax experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm. ▪ Should be able to identify prospective business opportunities. 
    • Good knowledge and appreciation of tax legislation and regulatory environment. 
    • Working knowledge of accounting information systems and Tax tools.

    •  Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to articulate complex information. 
    • Ability to build positive relationships with team members and clients. 
    • Ability to handle simultaneously multiple engagements and client service teams.

    KPMG Tax Manager – Transfer Pricing

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Manage and deliver transfer pricing services 
    • Produce extensive financial and economic analysis/models to support restructuring/pricing decisions and transfer pricing compliance. 
    • Perform functional and risk analyses. 
    • Prepare Reports, presentations and other deliverables related to projects including master files, local files and Country-by-Country reports. 
    • Assist client in implementation of the transfer pricing models and policies. 
    • Draft transfer pricing reports for documentation and audit defense purposes. 
    • Collaborate with tax authorities on issues arising from transfer pricing audits. 
    • Assist in developing strategies for obtaining advance pricing agreements and negotiate with tax authorities 
    • Present work of high quality with minimum input by Directors or Partners. 
    • Continuously come up with innovative ways to improve processes internally within the BU and firm and for clients. 
    • Develop and manage client relationships through in-depth understanding of client businesses and expectations, providing valued insights, explanations, and proactive guidance. 
    • Analyze tax treaties and interpret them in line with the OECD and United Nations Model Tax Conventions 
    • Identify and pursue potential business opportunities and build relationships with potential clients and referrals to further business growth. 
    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the firm’s service offering, participate in business development activities and selling of products for tax team and other Business units. 
    • Manage work processes to ensure Tax recoverability targets are met, bills are raised, and collections are done on a timely basis. 
    • Ensure adherence to firm’s risk processes. 
    • Keeping updated with changes in legislation affecting tax and wider firm’s service offering. 
    • Continuous professional development including; learning hours and courses to enhance/develop skills. 
    • Lead Tax seniors and associates with a purpose of growing and developing them through coaching, feedback, providing guidance and opportunities for growth.

    Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:

    • Any professional qualification in Taxation from an accredited college/university will be an added advantage

    • A minimum of five years of tax experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm. 
    • Excellent structuring and tax advisory skills. 
    • Should be able to identify prospective business opportunities. 
    • Good knowledge and appreciation of tax legislation and regulatory environment. 
    • Working knowledge of accounting information systems and Tax tools.
