    Head, Customized Programs – Executive Education

    JOB PURPOSE

     Oversee business development activities, overall attainment of the Open Programs’ revenue targets, quality assurance and control, building and cultivating sustainable relationships with clients and participants during the program.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for selling custom solutions which will involve writing proposals, following up on sales leads, referrals, new business opportunities, and setting up meetings to deliver sales pitches.
    • Conduct negotiations to determine contract terms and ensure profitable deals
    • Maintaining and developing relationships with existing and potential customers to ensure a high level of client satisfaction.
    • Processing needs of clients. To foster a close relationship with new prospects/customers in order to understand their needs and meet their requirements accordingly.
    • Timely response to tenders and expressions of interest and ensuring it is done on time and submissions are of a high standard.
    • Debt collection. A sale is only complete after collection.
    • Overall responsible for cluster budgets.
    • Overall quality management for all programs/consultancies.
    • Report Writing – Ensuring that clients reports are submitted on time and are of high quality.
    • Provide market feedback to leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generate product development ideas.
    • Take ownership of driving the marketing of custom solutions and overseeing the development of marketing literature in liaison with the Head of Sales and Marketing
    • Communicating new product developments to prospective clients
    • Planning and coordinating the implementation of the units’ work-plans
    • Oversee the interviewing, recruitment, and training of business development personnel in the unit
    • Ensure business processes and standards are in accordance with the SBS policies & Procedure
    • Set and enforce customer service standards to ensure clients are satisfied with received services
    • Provide leadership to the team and ensure that a positive work environment is maintained in line with Strathmore Values

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    The post holder will be required to have and to demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

    • Masters’ Degree in a Business-related course.
    • 5 – 7 years’ relevant working experience in a similar role
    • Experience in leading and managing teams
    • Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of successfully pitching for new business
    • Proficiency in relevant computer applications to maintain databases, records, and basic business analytics
    • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Good communication, Persuasion & Negotiation skills
    • Ability to translate ideas into solutions
    • Strong market knowledge, business sense, and industry expertise
    • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills

    Business Development Manager, Open Programs

    JOB PURPOSE

    To market and sell Executive Education Open Enrolment Programs in liaison with the Head Open Programs while building and cultivating sustainable key relationships with potential public sector and private sector partners, nationally and internationally. The ideal candidate would need to have considerable experience in business development, developing training solutions, market intelligence, and solution selling.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Sales:

    • Targeting new clients for business development and proposing new initiatives for existing clients, to increase sales opportunities and achieve personal and team financial targets.
    • Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, developing industry linkages to sustain SBS as their knowledge partner in transforming Africa leaders.
    • Continually devise ways to increase customer experience to deepen client/partner relationships and maintain lasting client and partner relationships.
    • Data mining and developing a prospect pipeline for each program allocated.

    Marketing

    • Analyzing and managing stakeholders to maintain a close engagement and relationship with the market.
    • Undertaking continuous business intelligence to understand client needs at the organization, industry, and country level to ensure proposal of relevant and timely executive education and consultancy solutions
    • Tracking client satisfaction with frequent client review meetings and effective evaluation of programs and consultancy engagements.

    Operational excellence

    • Supporting faculty members to ensure delivery of client promises and delivery of expected outcome to the clients.
    • Initiating and driving the program review process in liaison with Head of Open Programmes, Academic directors, and program management team.
    • Preparing internal management reports and client reports as required, to support data-driven decision-making for enhanced client relations and effective process improvement.

    Key account management

    • Develop long-term planning and forecasting of each key account.
    • Setting specific goals and objectives for each key account
    • Managing buying cycles and their impact on the sales strategy
    • Developing and maintaining key accounts in turbulent market conditions

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    The post holder will be required to have and to demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

    • Masters’ degree in a business-related area qualification in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage.
    • Minimum 5 years relevant working experience in business development with proven experience in sales, managing client relations, key account management. Experience in selling HR Solutions will be an added advantage
    • Ability to guide senior business leaders in designing training plans which will achieve desirable business results.
    • Good research, planning, and reporting skills. Excellent business communication and etiquette skills with a flair for pitching.
    • Ability to analyze data from various sources including a thorough understanding of how business works and where opportunities lie.
