    Build & Validation Engineer

    Description: Designed, engineered and built in Kenya, Mobius Motors sells highly durable, highly affordable vehicles for Africa’s mass market.

    Versatile, rugged and durable, it is designed for African cities whilst still being extremely capable off-road.

    The Build & Validation Engineer will be responsible for managing the overall vehicle build and validation program.

    This involves ensuring the required mule and prototype test validation units are built to required configurations and then tracking the validation of the vehicle, individual systems and components to ensure a successful overall validation program.

    They will work with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure the vehicle builds are carried out as required and work closely with the test engineering resources to ensure successful execution of the validation test plan.

    The role will also require a close working relationship with the Vehicle Integration team to ensure the timely and correct integration of vehicle components for validation.

    Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Work with the Associate Director to plan the vehicle BOM configuration required for each vehicle build as per the program requirements. Subsequently work with the BOM engineer to manage and track the vehicle BOM configuration.
    • Based on program timing targets, effectively plan and manage the physical build of mule and prototype vehicles as per required configurations & budget. Provide the vehicle build plan to the workshop supervisor to support the vehicle builds.
    • Plan & track the individual system and component validation activities managing vehicle installation, timeframe and sign-off status for each after completion of test activity.
    • Coordinate with the workshop supervisor to ensure the availability of mule & prototype vehicles to carry out mandated verification & validation tests as per the vehicle validation.
    • Put together clear documentation on the overall vehicle design and build configuration with the support of the vehicle system engineers including detailed build instructions, CAD DMU models & drawings.
    • Manage the timely and periodic publication of vehicle status summaries to the engineering & management team for detailed review and analysis.
    • Track and manage the resolution of issues arising from validation vehicles.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor degree (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or similar
    • 4+ years related experience in automotive product design/development engineering
    • Good leadership and clear sense of direction with ability to communicate that to others
    • CAD proficiency to be able to read and review drawings, engineering models
    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    Production Engineer

    Responsibilities for the Production Engineer Job

    Production Engineering

    • Work alongside production staff and technicians to develop, install and maintain equipment used in the manufacturing process.
    • Develop, evaluate and continuously improve manufacturing methods, utilising knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality standards.
    • Investigate and resolve operational problems such as material use variances and bottlenecks.
    • Develop action plans or contingencies for line stoppage and repair plans.
    • Work with quality personnel to determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in product designs, tolerances, machine tooling and process methods.
    • Identify and implement methods to improve safety of manufacturing operations.
    • Give training and technical support on new machines and processes, applying industry health and safety practices.
    • Draft manufacturing documentation including PFMEA, control plans, process documentation and formal quality standards.
    • Perform Value Add / Value Engineering. Generate cost reduction ideas through identification of process/product efficiencies that will reduce overall costs. Work with all stakeholders to achieve cost reduction targets.
    • Provide guidance to the Technical and Supply teams for proposed new or modified designs to achieve required function at minimum cost.

    Project Management

    • Lead and facilitate production review sessions. Report risks and opportunities of production status on a weekly basis.
    • Take ownership of projects; plan milestones, timelines, budgets, resources and identify potential risks to deliver production aspects within agreed completion dates.
    • Be proactive regarding task completion and periodically advise wider team on project status, timing, resources, issues, and ability to deliver on-time with excellence.
    • Ensure adherence and compliance to general automotive industry production standards and best practices; maintain structured and versioned data outputs daily and backup data weekly.

    Required Qualifications for the Production Engineer Job

    • Bachelor degree (minimum) in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering or
      similar years of volume manufacturing and assembly experience in automotive or heavy industrial
    • Solid knowledge of vehicle parts and subsystems and knowledge of part interaction
    • Ability to read and evaluate mechanical drawings and technical product specifications
    • Strong familiarity with mechanical tools and their use in fabrication, measurement and assembly
    • Ability to troubleshoot, fabricate and/or repair machines and mechanical assemblies
    • Practical knowledge of VE and VA techniques, lean concepts, and quality tools and standards (ISO/ QS000)
    • High level of design awareness and strong mechanical aptitude
    • Knowledge of fastener and torque strategy

    Body Shop Supervisor

    Reporting to the Production Manager, we are seeking a Body Shop Supervisor to oversee a team of up to 0 people who fabricate and assemble Chassis’ and vehicle systems.

    Reporting to the Production Manager, we are seeking a Paint Shop Supervisor to oversee the scheduling of all paint activities in our vehicle production. The role will require a close working relationship with the onsite subcontracted Paint Shop, the Production Manager as well as the whole of the Production Team.

    Body & Interiors Engineer

    The Body & Interiors Engineer will work together with selected engineering partners and suppliers to design, develop and deliver to production the respective complete body & interiors system and components whilst ensuring adherence to the required quality, cost, weight and function targets.

    The role will require a close working relationship with the Technical, Production and Supply Chain teams.

    Responsibilities for the Body & Interiors Engineer Job

    • Support the development of the exterior & interior body system (including but not limited to body Monocoque design, exterior panels, fixtures, chassis frame) through requirements definition, component selection and detailed design.
    • Track and report on quality, cost, weight and function targets for the Body and Interior components.
    • Ensure robust design process is carried out on component designs by executing required DFMEA’s on relevant systems.
    • Ensure release and accurate maintenance of all applicable CAD drawings for the body and interior components through structured design review and engineering change approval process.
    • Work with supply chain team to liaise with suppliers on selected designs and ensure required design goals and functionality.
    • Work with test engineer to ensure all Body & Interior components and systems are adequately functionally verified.
    • Work with supply and production teams to review body & interior systems suitability for local manufacture or integration at local assembly facility.
    • Work with Product Quality Engineer to support or lead root cause analysis on product quality issues affecting the body &interior components.
