    Requirements for the position of senior lecturers as per CUE guidelines

    i. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification ( or a master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant field from an accredited and recognizes University;
    ii. At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University level as lecture or six (6) years research/ industry experience.
    iii. A minimum of thirty two (32) publication points as a lecturer or equivalent of which at least twenty four (24) should be from refereed scholarly Journals;
    iv) Supervised at least three (3) post - graduate students to completion as a lecturer or equivalent;
    iv. Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

    Job description

    (i) Teach and assess courses in one’s discipline at both undergraduate and graduate level
    (ii) Supervise undergraduate projects and other experiential learning programme
    (iii) Supervise dissertations/theses at the graduate level
    (iv) Develop undergraduate and graduate courses
    (v) Initiate, promote and participate in research projects and publish
    (vi) Give an inaugural lecture in one’s discipline normally within one (1) year after promotion
    (vii) Provide academic leadership through programme development, mentoring and research in designated programmes
    (viii) Provide professional and community services including initiating linkages and fundraising
    (ix) Carry out administrative and other duties & responsibilities as may be assigned

    Senior Librarian I

     SCALE – GU 13

    An officer at this level will be responsible for Management of Information Communication and Technologies (ICTs) at the college level within the University Community. Duties and responsibilities will involve formulation of ICTs policies, planning and management of information systems, database management; decision support systems (DDS); office support systems (OSS) to support and deliver electronic information to end-users, networking services, supervision of staff, budget formulation and coordination of automation activities within the University Library Services.

    Job Specification for Direct appointment
    For direct appointment to this grade one must have:


    (i) served in the grade of librarian (GU12) in a comparable and relevant position for at least five years and have a first degree in Library and Information Science.
    (ii) have a Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University
    (iii) five (5) years working experience in a well established and automated library/information centre at the level of Senior Librarian II or its equivalent
    (iv) published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals or a book;
    (v) attendance to seminars/workshops on modern Information Resources Management;

    Job Specification for Serving Officers
    For promotion to this grade one must have:

    (i) served in the grade of Senior Librarian II or in a comparable and relevant position for at least (3) years;
    (ii) a Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University
    (iii) published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals or a book;
    (iv) attendance of seminars/workshops on modern Information Resources Management;

    Senior Librarian II

    SCALE GU 12

    Job Description

    An officer at this level will be responsible for Management of Information Communication and Technologies (ICTs) within the University Community. Specifically, work at this level will involve, developing Information Technology Policies; training other staff on the use and application of ICTs; planning and management of systems development; providing advancement support in use of electronic information sources and managing the library’s web pages; online searching using the Internet; operating systems; website creation; desktop publishing; designing and realization of bibliographic databases; software and hardware engineering services; database management and operations; directing the functions of micro computing, networking and systems, support services; training and promotion of information technology; executing and controlling information and services budget and all aspects of automation in University Libraries (LAN, WWW, Internet); maintenance of ICTs.

    Job Specification for Direct appointment

    (i) a Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University

    Senior Binder Assistant/Senior Assistant Print Originator/Senior Assistant Machine Operator I

    SCALE GU 9/10

    Job Description


    Work at this level will be similar to that of Assistant Printing Machine Operator. An officer at this level will be responsible to the Printing Machine Operator, Senior Binder, and Senior Print Originator for service provision; assist in material preparation for printing, all binding processes and print origination work and clear all that has been printed to the next process. Undertake all bindery work.

    Job Specification for Direct Appointment
    For direct appointment to this grade one must have:


    (i) Higher National Diploma in Machine Printing, Information Technology or London City and Guilds
    (ii) Certificate in Bookbinding from a recognized institution.
    (iii) Four (4) years relevant working experience

    Job Specification for Serving Officers
    For promotion to this grade, an officer must have:-


    (i) served in the grade of Binder Assistant I/ Assistant Print Originator I/Assistant Machine Operator I, for at least three (3) years;
    (ii) A Higher National Diploma course in machine printing, information technology or London City and Guilds certificate in binding and print finishing in a recognized institution;
    (iii) Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
