    Laboratory Technician

    Basic Salary: Kshs 16,692 -Kshs 21, 304
    Job Group ‘G’

    Qualifications for the Laboratory Technician Job

    • Certificate in any of the following fields, Laboratory Science, Laboratory Technology

    OR

    • Certificate in Occupational/Proficiency Test Certificate Grade III/II/I in Civil Engineering for Geological Laboratories from a recognized institution.

    Role

    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a more senior and experienced officer.

    Laboratory Technician Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Preparing geological and construction samples;
    • Drying, crushing and preserving samples for testing and cleaning of work area and equipment
    • Assisting in field and sampling investigation

    Cook

    Grade III
    Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 11, 370-Kshs, 13, 140Pm

     

    Role

    This will be the entry Grade for the cooks cadre. An officer at this level will be on job training and will carry out duties under the supervision of a senior officer.

    Qualifications for the Cook Job

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a mean grade of D (Plain) or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; and
    • Craft Certificate in food and beverage production, Sales and Service or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

    OR

    • Attended a formal course lasting not less than two (2) months in food Production organized by the Kenya Utalii College or other recognized Institutions.

    Cook Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Preparation of raw foods for cooking;
    • Cleanliness of equipment used in production;
    • Maintaining hygiene by ensuring cleaning of the kitchen and its surroundings;
    • Setting up and preparing equipment for use in food preparation and production; and
    • Alerting the supervisor on any defective equipment as required

    Plant Operator

    Grade III
    Basic Salary Scale: Kshs 10,380-Kshs 11,370 pm
    Job Group ‘D’

    Qualifications for the Plant Operator Job

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (Plain)or a equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Have passed the suitability test for plant operators;
    • Possess a valid Driving License free from current endorsements for class(es) of machine(s) that one may be required to operate;
    • Be able to operate at least two(2) plants of difficult rating ‘C’attended a First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one(1) week from St John Ambulance or the Kenya Institute of Highways and Technology(KIHBT) or any other recognized institution; and
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

    Role

    This is the entry and training Grade for Plant Operators.

    Plant Operator Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Operating machines of; difficult ‘rating’ C,
    • Assisting machine attendance in indentifying possible breakdowns;
    • Liaising with mechanics for servicing; making daily and weekly oil checks; and
    • Maintaining the cleanliness of the plants.

    Blacksmith

    Grade III,
    Basic Salary Scale: Kshs 10,380-Kshs 11,370 pm
    Job Group ‘D’

     

    Qualifications for the Blacksmith Job

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ or its equivalent from a recognized institution; and
    • Artisan National Trade test certificate Grade III/ apprentice Certificate awarded by the Directorate of Industrial Training or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.

    NOTE: Serving Subordinate staff with KCSE mean grade D (Plain) who gains three (3) years practical experience after obtaining National Trade Test Grade III may be considered for promotion to Artisan grade III.

    Blacksmith Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manufacture of items for repair and maintenance of commercial vehicles, construction plants and other equipment by employing basic forging and heat treatment in the blacksmith workshop; and
    • Cleaning and maintenance of the workplace.

    Artisan Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manufacturing parts for repair and maintenance of commercial vehicles, construction plants, body building that may involve interpretation of drawings, fitting, use of manufacturing machines, bench work, and precision measuring tools.

    Housekeeping Assistant Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of rooms;
    • Care and maintenance of furniture, equipment and linen;
    • Reporting of defects in the guests rooms to the supervisor;
    • Ensuring proper work procedures are followed when handling guest laundry; and
    • Filling in the occurrence book as required.
