    Communications Officer

    Job Summary

    The Communications Officer will be responsible for planning and creation of all communication materials, manage the organizations’ brand strategy and visibility as well as lead in the documentation of program activities.

    The Communication Officer will also work closely with headquarters communication team to create content for upload on website and contribute to the organizational communication goals and objectives.

    Duties for the Communications Officer Job

    (Essential functions, quality/quantity expected list of marginal duties and number of national/and or expat staff supervised).

    • Manage and ensure consistent branding and visibility in all platforms including print and digital collateral materials to integrate with and support organization’s goals and activities.
    • Lead in story, photo and video assets development that support overall visibility and fundraising efforts tied to organizational goals and strategy.
    • Support the development, editorial, design and production of high-quality, effective print, electronic, web and video communications, including the organization’s annual report, brochures, photo books, cape statements, newsletters, etc.
    • Liaise with headquarters communication team to create content to be used on the web and on the various social media platforms as well as assist in driving program promotional campaigns.
    • Provide assistance and editorial support to field teams in the production of a wide range of regular reporting requirements, including ‘Success Stories’ highlighting program activities and achievement.
    • Lead and advise in all media engagement activities.
    • Other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

    Communications Officer Job Requirements

    • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication or equivalent required.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong skills in using Adobe Master Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point
    • Strong photography and audio visual production skills.
    • Creative, self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented.
    • Minimum of 3-4 year’s work experience in communications office.
    • Ability to work with a diverse team, including international teams.
    • Ability to work quickly and produce quality work under pressure
    • Ability to travel and spend extended time in the field, with limited facilities and often under harsh conditions.
    • Somali speaker preferred.

    Compliance Manager

    Job Overview/Summary:

    The compliance Manager will work together with the Roving Compliance Officer and compliance department in conducting a planned compliance review, provide an independent review on the control areas of the organization and will confirm during a follow up testing whether the prior year compliance , internal and/or/external audit, donor recommendations are fully implemented by the respective departments , provide technical support to functions/department in the CO and Field Office management and staff in order to ensure an efficient internal control system are emplaced within the country office.

    The Compliance Manager will provide support to assist IMC Somalia program to effectively oversee the operations of country program in order make sure the Country program is in compliance with IMC policies and procedures, Local laws and donor regulations. She/he will be based in field offices as and when required, will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the country program.

    Compliance Manager Job Responsibilities

    • Perform compliance review planning procedures and conduct a planned compliance review based on the required organizational compliance templates and procedures.
    • Conduct periodic review on CO, field offices and implementing partner financial data and documents, operation and program delivery to assure accuracy, completeness and compliance with policies, and
      procedures and applicable government regulations, donor requirement and others
    • Evaluate adequacy and consistency of internal control system during a compliance review appointment or engagement.
    • Conduct trainings to staff and vendors as per work plan established with the Roving Compliance Officer
    • Provide analysis and identify risk prone financial, procurement and operational and other areas to properly address during the review to set priority.
    • Ensure and support CO and implementing partners to develop policies and procedure that enable them to comply with IMC and donor’s administrative requirements, during compliance review appointment or engagement
    • Comply with and enforce IMC’s sub award Manual, including required procedures and documentation
    • Providing the final review of procurement transactions, >1,000 USD an established threshold, to ensure adequate supporting documentation, compliance with IMC’s Procurement Manual and donor regulations;
    • Conduct a complete review of supply chain management on commodity management, distribution and monitoring apart from the financial, operational and performance review required above and submit draft review report to Roving Compliance Officer
    • Review of compliance with donor reporting to ensure accuracy and timely submission,
    • Review of monthly financial package/reports before submission to donors and split,
    • Review the adequacy & fair cost allocation (Cost Allocation Methodology) and Master Budget (pipeline review) and FR timely submission
    • The compliance officer reviews the payroll month preparation and transfer process every month.
    • Test Annual recruitment plan, review the completeness of personal files and HR management system from recruiting to exit (, advertising, screening, choosing, Induction & orientation process and exit process) and review selection process of consultancy done by HR.

    Requirements for the Compliance Manager Job

    • 3-5 years’ experience required.
    • Audit, Risk and/or Compliance Experience (preferably with INGOs)
    • Solid Experience with INGOs (different number of years depending on seniority)
    • Certified CIA or CPA or CRM (for the manager and coordinator position)
    • Strong knowledge of donor regulations (preferably USAID, DFID, ECHO, etc.)
    • Strong Team Management and Leadership Skills (for the manager and coordinator)
    • Strong time Management and organizational skills (for all)
    • Solid experience with Excel, Word and Power Point
    • Strong familiarity with the different types of instruments (Grants, Contracts, sub-awards, etc.)
    • A generalist with strong familiarity with various business controls (HR, Finance, Procurement, Logs, I.T, Program)
    • Language Skills: English and a second foreign language with solid communication and writing skills.
    • Somali speaking preferred.

    Nutrition Coordinator

    General Purpose of the Job

    The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for leading the Somalia nutrition team and providing technical support and capacity building to successfully plan, implement and monitor International Medical Corps’ nutrition programs and activities in Somalia.

    The Nutrition Coordinator must have the ability to organize and support all aspects of the nutrition program including liaising with the Ministry of Health, international and national agencies and donors.

    The Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the nutrition programs in the country are of good quality, and implemented in accordance with international humanitarian standards and donor guidelines.

    The Nutrition Coordinator will work closely with the Program Director, Program Coordinator and other technical coordinators to provide input into proposal development and country level strategies as required.

    Duties for the Nutrition Coordinator Job

    Program management and coordination

    • Lead all nutrition program initiatives by providing technical oversight and ensuring quality standards are met in accordance with global standards and donor requirements.
    • Provide day-to-day technical and administrative management, support and guidance to the nutrition team, and project managers and field staff in other IMC programs
    • Evaluate the progress and impact of programs through regular field visits, data collection and reports.
    • Ensures all programs are being implemented in accordance with their approved budgets, and works closely with the managers to find ways to improve operational efficiency on an on-going basis.
    • Coordinate with the Ministry of Health and other national and county level government officials to facilitate the timely implementation of project plans and objectives; ensure IMC is an active member of the nutrition cluster at national and regional/district level, as well as in Nairobi.
    • Coordinate with the national Ministry of Health and other national/provincial level actors to facilitate the timely implementation of projects and objectives, ensure program design address the needs and priorities of the country

    General knowledge of International Medical Corps code of conduct and ethics

    • Ensure all staff of the nutrition team complies with International Medical Corps’ Code of Conduct, International Medical Corps ethics, and health and safety rules related to the job; assure local, national and international partners are aware of and respect International Medical Corps’ Code of Conduct
    • Maintain and promote positive relationships between colleagues and beneficiaries
    • Respect all rules and procedures
    • Comply with health and safety rules
    • Respect medical ethics

    Program Development

    • Identify potential nutrition and nutrition-related projects, liaise with interested partners and stakeholders
    • Identify existing project implementation gaps and address any issues with partners, donors and stakeholders
    • Analyze data from nutrition programs and provide inputs to be used for quality assessment and improvements in overall program quality

    Capacity Building

    • Ensure all IMC and global nutrition standards and protocols are up-to-date and well understood by all the nutrition staff, that they are trained and mentored on these standards, as well as held accountable to them.
    • Liaise with nutrition experts, provincials Nutritionists and others to ensure that specialized support is available at the field/district/activity level to increase coverage and overall efficacy of the program
    • Represent International Medical Corps in national and provincial coordination meetings, provide minutes to supervisor
    • Assess training needs of nutrition staff, develop a training program for staff in order to address any gaps

    Reporting

    • Responsible for overall collection of good quality data within all nutrition programs, data analysis and interpretation, and use of collected data for day-to-day management of the nutrition programs; assure the nutrition team collects good quality data and is capable to use the data for monitoring and maintaining good quality program implementation
    • In collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation staff, review field implementation plans and assessment/surveys to ensure quality and timely reporting
    • In collaboration with the Nutrition team, assist in writing proposals and reports as needed or required

    Nutrition Coordinator Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and 7+ years relevant work experience (minimum 5 years in a developing country/emergency response setting) OR Master’s degree in Nutrition/Public Health and 5+ years relevant work experience (minimum 3 years in a developing country/emergency response setting)
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience working in a nutrition program, previous program development/ management experience in a humanitarian/ emergency context required, experience in training national staff required
      Fluency in English;
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently in response to changing needs in the field
    • Strategic thinking and analytical skills
    • Flexible and able to deal with stressful situations
    • Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources in difficult settings
    • Strong communication and leadership skills, able to effectively present information clearly and respond appropriate to questions of senior managers and headquarters staff, counterparts, senior government leaders and donors
    • Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition in emergencies, adherence to and proven record in demonstrating core competencies
    • Experience in nutrition surveys and assessments
    • Somali Speaking required.
