    Cargo Inspector

    Main Responsibilities:

    Inspectorate East Africa Ltd Cargo Inspector is responsible to carry out the actual inspection. The person gets involved with the people, the products and/or the items to be inspected. This person handles the product in the process of examination to determine the quality, quantity, dimensional measurements or safety according to the requirements of a specific standard. The Inspector gives a report based on professional judgment. Depending on the requirements, the actual inspection can involve the use of modern technology or physical examination only.

    Key tasks:

    • Monitor movement of cargo form place of discharge to warehouse or depot.
    • Physically examine a product against the required standard; this can involve checking design, color, form and other physical parameters.
    • Quantify a product by actual counting.
    • Give updates about the ongoing work.
    • Fill the tally sheets on time as the work is ongoing.
    • Enforcing and practicing company policies including the safety policy.
    • Keeping records of the inspection work.
    • Give timely reports on the inspection work.
    • Where applicable, carry out preloading truck inspection during petroleum operations.
    • Laboratory analysis where required.
    • Product level determination by truck dipping.
    • Securing the product by way of ware house, tank, pipeline or truck sealing.
    • Any other duty as assigned by the Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • At least a diploma in pure/applied/engineering science course or related field from a recognized learning institution.
    • Excellence in the applicable course
    • Ambitious and self-driven individual
    • Good inter personal skills
    • Team player
    • Very good computer application skills on internet and MS Office Suite
    • Good communication skills
    • Fluent in oral and written English
    • Be willing to travel for work as required
    • Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
    • Previous work experience in a similar role will be an added advantage

    Human Resources and Administration Officer

    Main Responsibilities:

    Inspectorate East Africa Ltd Human Resource and Administration Officer is responsible for managing the administration and logistics activities of the organisation. He/she also takes responsibility to conduct tasks related to human resource. He/she will work closely with other staff of the organisation and report to Human Resource Manager to ensure the operational support functions of the office go smoothly and efficiently.

    Key tasks:

    Administrative tasks:

    • Be responsible for incoming and outgoing telephone calls and emails
    • Handle office expenses and petty cash of organisation
    • Manage office equipment and infrastructure to ensure a well-running office
    • Responsible for the overall running of the reception operation
    • Make logistic arrangement including flights reservations, hotel and vehicle arrangement for staff, visitors/partners etc.
    • Conduct procurement of stationery for staff and meetings/workshops and assets of the office
    • Prepare correspondence, memos, reports, presentations, and emails to suppliers and other related offices or agencies in relation to the office operations
    • Carry out other duties such as taking minutes of office meetings as requested by the supervisor
    • Update the filling system and manage filing of the office documents for both hard and electronic copies. 

    Human Resource tasks

    • Recommend and execute annual staff development plan for Inspectorate East Africa Ltd
    • Recommend and execute policies, procedures, rules, regulations for employees in compliance with Kenyan Labour Law
    • Review and update all human resources policies to meet the organization’s needs
    • Planning and facilitating HR activities in the team: contract, recruitment, employee relation etc.
    • Ensure to develop job descriptions for current/new positions
    • Maintain current organizational chart and current staff contact list
    • Assist the progress of job planning and performance management
    • Provide coaching and training to direct staffs on HR & Admin functions
    • Establish and maintain relations with government, labor union and other related personnel stakeholders
    • Monitor and record employee time sheets and  leave requests
    • Support for procedures or papers relating to personnel or staffing issues
    • Conduct instruction for staff members about admin and HR procedures
    • Any other duties assigned. 

    Qualifications:

    • At least a diploma in administration, human resource management from a recognized learning institution.
    • Excellence in the applicable course
    • Ambitious and self-driven individual
    • Good inter personal skills
    • Team player
    • Very good computer application skills on internet and MS Office Suite
    • Good communication skills
    • Fluent in oral and written English
    • Demonstrable leadership skills
    • Able to work under pressure and deadline
    • Be willing to travel for work as required
    • Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.

    Assistant Operations Manager

    Main Responsibilities:
    Inspectorate East Africa Ltd Assistant Operations Manager is responsible to assist the Operations Manager with operational activities. This is done by allocation of staff and providing the necessary equipment needed for the work to be done efficiently.

    Key tasks:

    • Reporting to the Operations Manager concerning the progress of on-going operational activities.
    • Monitoring berthing prospects for motor vessels and tankers by way of liaising with the relevant local agents / parties
    • Keeping clients and other interested parties updated with regards to the appointed inspection activities
    • Overseeing petroleum, Agri-commodities and General cargo operations at the port and warehouses / terminals.
    • In liaison with supervisors, allocate staff duties and closely monitor and / or lead in;-
      • Carrying out draft surveys.
      • Carrying out cargo inspection on motor vessels and tankers.
      • Carrying out container inspections.
      • Carrying out off/on hire condition surveys on vessels.
      • Carrying out bunker surveys
      • Carry out damage surveys.
      • Preparing final reports that are issued to the customers or clients.
    • Deputize the Operations Manager in his/her absence.
    • Any other duty as may be assigned by the Operations Manager

    Qualifications:

    • At least a diploma in pure/applied/engineering science course from a recognised learning institution.

    • Ambitious and self-driven individual
    • Good inter personal skills
    • Team player
    • Very good computer application skills on internet and MS Office Suite
