    Uasin Gishu County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, located in the former Rift Valley Province. The city of Eldoret is the county's administrative and commercial centre. Uasin Gishu is located on a plateau and has a cool and temperate climate.

    Structural Engineer

     

    Job Details

    • Design Structural Capacity of new projects.
    • Assess the adequacy of buildings in use.
    • Supervise contracts during project implementation
    • Prepare structural drawings
    • Preparation and/or modification of Civil/Structural engineering calculations, Civil/Structural engineering plans, design, and layout, Civil/Structural project specifications, Civil/Structural engineering portion of project proposals and civil/Structural engineering portion of project cost estimates.
    • Performing structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
    • Coordinating work with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.
    • Handling routine contract administration.
    • Attending and participate in Client and County project meetings.
    • Performing field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verifying measurements within project area.
    • Prepare progress reports

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
    • Member of EBK Profession Engineer added advantage
    • Must have practiced in Structural Design and supervision for 5 years
    • Must be computer literate

    Mechanical Engineer

     

    Job Details

    • Develop drawings and specs for Mechanical Works (buildings) for new projects
    • Prepare drawings for Mechanical Works (buildings)
    • Supervise project implementation of projects as per the law
    • Prepare progress reports
    • Maintain existing buildings
    • Prepare operation manuals

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (buildings)
    • Member of EBK Profession Engineer added advantage
    • Must have practiced in Mechanical Engineering for 5 years
    • Must be computer literate

    Quantity Surveyor

     

    Job Group ‘L’

    Responsibilities

    • Develop BOQ for new projects at contract documentation
    • Carry our assessment of property, buildings for the purpose of maintenance, repair, upgrading or demolition.
    • Supervise projects and value works for purposes of payments
    • Supervising construction works and preparing measurement of on-going works.
    • Prepare estimates and budgets for new projects.
    • Valuation of projects for purpose of payment, claims, acquisition, litigation or any other government purpose.
    • Preparing contract documents, procurement plans, budgets, work plans.
    • Performing risk analysis evaluation and appraisals.
    • Supervision of staff.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelors Degree in Quantity Survey.
    • Member of BORAQs.
    • Must have practiced in Quantity Survey for 5 years
    • Must be computer literate

    Architect

     

    Job Group ‘M’

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare Architectural drawings for new projects for the purpose of planning, budgeting and execution
    • Prepare as built drawings for complete projects
    • Ensure that projected designs match their needs and are functional, safe and economical.
    • Take part in site selection and work closely with contractors on site, ensuring that works are carried out to specific standards and submit progress reports
    • Preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals.
    • Producing detailed workings, drawings and specifications.
    • Specifying the nature and quality of materials required.
    • Preparing tender applications, presentations and documents for contracts.
    • Preparing applications for planning and building control departments.
    • Regular site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is running on time and to budget.
    • Ensuring that the environmental impact of the project is managed.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelors Degree in Architecture.
    • Must be registered with relevant professional body.
    • Must have practiced in Architecture for 5 years
    • Must be computer literate

    Electrical Engineer

    JOB GROUP ‘K’ – SIX (6) POSTS

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Examining vouchers, cashbooks, ledgers
    • Confirming he propriety and accuracy of the transactions;
    • Auditing annual accounts
    • Undertaking audit inspection of co-operative societies.
    • Making periodic audit reports

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Commerce Economic, or Business Administration from a recognized institution;
    • And Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Kenya Part II or Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) Part III from a recognized institution;
    • Served in the grade of Co-operative Auditor III or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
    • Diploma in any of the following disciplines:- Co-operative Management, Co-operative Auditing, Internal Auditing or Finance from a recognized institution;
    • And Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Kenya Part I or Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) Part II from a recognized institution;
    • Computer Literate
    • Good communication skills.

    Co-Operative Officer I

     

    JOB GROUP ‘K’ – ONE (1) POST

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Promoting and advising co-operative societies on matters relating to marketing, credit, financing, governance, training and administration
    • Advising on co-operative investments
    • Collecting data on potential areas for analysis and policy formulation
    • Developing and monitoring work plans for co-operative extension services
    • Overseeing co-operative activities in several Co-operative societies including elections
    • Enforcing compliance with co-operative legislation.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade and officer must have:-

    • Degree in any of the following disciplines;- Co-operative Management, Marketing or Business Management (Marketing, Co-operatives Management, Entrepreneurship) from a recognized institution with a work experience of three years in Co-operatives institution or related field;
    • Have served in the grade of Assistant Co-operative Officer II for a minimum period of three (3) years;
    • Computer Literate
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision

    Assistant Co-Operative Officer - 2 positions

    • Sensitize the public on co-operative movement laws and regulations
    • Enforcing compliance with co-operative legislation.

    • Collect and collate data on co-operatives activities to support planning
    • Report on activities of cooperative societies within their jurisdiction

    Assistant Director Of Secretarial Services

     

    JOB GROUP ‘P’

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Coordinate work with other executive and support staff to ensure a high performance, customer service-oriented work environment.
    • Type and/or draft memoranda, correspondence, and other documents and reports often of a highly sensitive and confidential nature.
    • Ensure materials and reports for signature are accurate and complete; proofread and check typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness and compliance with standards, policies and procedures.
    • Schedule, prepare agenda and meeting materials and take minutes for various meetings and maintains the Governors calendars; coordinates, arrange and confirm meetings.
    • Receive telephone calls, provide information and handle issues that may require sensitivity and use of sound, independent judgment.
    • Respond to requests for information and complaints, refer matters to appropriate
    • Departments and/or take or recommend action to resolve the request or complaint.
    • Review, determine the priority and route incoming correspondence, reports, requests and instructions; handle or refer matters as directed.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

    • Bachelors Degree in Secretarial Studies or a Bachelor of Business Management/Administration or an equivalent from a recognized institution with Seven (7) years’ experience in a busy office
    • Diploma in Secretarial Studies from the Kenya National
    • Examination Council or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution and have served in the grade of Senior Executive Secretary/Principal Office Administrator or any other relevant and comparable position in the Public Service or equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years
    • Proficiency in Computer Applications
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision
