    KRA Head of Internal Audit

    Our client the Kenya Revenue Authority is the principal revenue collector for the Government of Kenya, with the primary goal to deliver Kenya to financial self-sufficiency through effective tax revenue mobilisation. It is in this pursuit that we seek result oriented, self driven individuals of high integrity to fill the position of Head of Internal Audit.

    Purpose of the job:

    The Head of Internal Audit will be responsible for leading and managing the entire Internal Audit function of the Authority. The Internal audit function is responsible for the review of internal controls and processes, appraisal of operational efficiency and supporting the risk management process of the Authority.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute a risk-base ongoing Internal Audit Plan;
    • Assess the operational effectiveness of the design and functioning of controls and processes across the Authority’s processes;
    • Advise the Authority on best practice regarding the internal controls, systems and governance processes;
    • Development and implementation of system and risk based methods of Auditing, including use of Internal Audit tools to interrogate and audit of IT systems;
    • Formulate actionable and value-added recommendations and monitor progress of implementation of action plans;
    • Evaluate the economy and efficiency with which the Authority’s resources are employed;
    • Lead in special projects including audit investigations and process re-engineering teams in response to emerging business risks;
    • Review the risk management process and its implementation across functions to embed a proactive approach in identification of risks across the Authority.

    Requirements

    The job holder should possess the following minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university;
    • A minimum of ten (10) years working experience in a busy commercial, public sector or professional environment, of which 5 years should be in a senior leadership position in Internal Audit;
    • Demonstrated understanding of tax or commercial processes that invite for internal audit skills;
    • Membership with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Institute of Certified Public Accountants
    of Kenya (ICPAK) and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA);
    • Master’s Degree in a relevant field shall be an added advantage.

    In addition, candidates should demonstrate the following Personal Traits and Competencies:

    • Be an independent minded individual of high integrity with an inquisitive mind.
    • Proven track record with internal / external audit environment evidencing strong
    performance in conducting high quality audit work, findings and reports.
    • Ability to inquire and understand issues quickly, constructively and challenge the status quo
    • Evidenced experience in leading geographically diverse teams;
    • Ability to maintain independence and confidentiality;
    • Effective interaction with all levels of management;

    Principal Capacity Building Officer

    The Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA) was established in 2013 by an Act of Parliament the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration Act No. 26 of 2013 as a Centre for promotion of international commercial arbitration and other alternative forms of dispute resolution.

    NCIA is an independent institution administered by a Board of Directors drawn from private and public sector with a unique blend of competencies from the Eastern African Region.

    NCIA are looking to recruit a Principal Capacity Building Officer. Reporting to the Business Development Manager this role is responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies and strategies for the Unit and overseeing the nationwide training needs assessment in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    As head of the Capacity Building Unit the Principal Capacity Building Officer will be responsible for:

    • Formulating and implementing of policies and strategies for the Capacity Building Unit
    • Overseeing the nationwide training needs assessment for Alternative Dispute Resolution
    • Providing technical oversight, strategic direction and ensuring appropriate support for the planning and implementation of program capacity building activities in Alternative
    • Dispute Resolution
    • Developing training criteria, qualifications, schedules, specialized courses, modules and certification of courses within Alternative Dispute Resolution
    • Developing and executing public awareness campaigns on Alternative Dispute Resolution policies and plans
    • Overseeing periodic review of the Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution training curriculum
    • Overseeing stakeholder engagement, sensitization and capacity development on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution
    • Organizing annual moot competitions
    • Conducting baseline surveys and customer satisfaction surveys; and ensuring continuous monitoring and evaluation of the Unit’s work-plans and initiate appropriate action
    • Supervising, guiding and developing staff working in the Unit

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in either law, arbitration, economics, communication studies, Business Administration, Public Relations, Education or a related field from a recognized university
    • A post-graduate degree in a relevant field is also required
    • Attended a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks in a recognized institution or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
    • Be a member of a recognized professional body in good standing.
    • Have met all the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya; Shortlisted applicants are expected to get clearance from the following bodies:

    -Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
    -Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
    -Tax Compliance Certificate from KRA
    -Leadership and Integrity Act Self Declaration Form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
    (EACC); and
    -Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

    The candidate must have served in the role of a Senior Capacity Building Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years, Or Have relevant working experience of at least seven (7) years with a minimum of five (5) years in a senior management position in public or private organization

    KRA Company Secretary

    Requirements

    The job holder should possess the following minimum qualifications:

    • Relevant University Degree Law;
    • Certified Public Secretary CPS(K); and be a member in good standing with the Institute of
    Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya;
    • Fifteen (15) years’ experience, at least ten (10) years providing Board secretarial services
    within the public or private sector;
    • Master’s Degree in the relevant fields shall confer added advantage;
    • Is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, member of the LSK, and have a valid practicing
    certificate;

    In addition, candidates should demonstrate the following Personal Traits and Competencies:

    • Experience in providing company secretarial services within large public or private sector institutions;
    • Experience and knowledge in corporate law within public or private sector;
    • Demonstrated experience in corporate governance;

    KRA Commissioner Legal Services

    Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

    • University Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution;
    • Fifteen (15) years’ experience practicing law, at least ten (10) of which must focus on litigation at middle and senior management levels in a corporate environment within the public or private sector;
    • Master’s Degree in the relevant fields shall confer added advantage;
    • Is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, member of the LSK, and have a valid practicing certificate.
    • Membership to ICPSK (ICS) is an added advantage

    In addition, candidates should demonstrate the following Personal Traits and Competencies:

    • Experience leading legal services in corporate and commercial law within large public or private sector institutions;
    • Experience in handling litigation;
    • High standards of ethics, integrity and confidentiality;
    • High level of interpersonal skills;
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of modern non-adversary commercial dispute resolution including alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
