    Team Leader, Credit Administration

    Job Description

    DEPARTMENT: NEW BUSINESS VENTURES

    REPORTS TO: MANAGER, CREDIT OPERATIONS

    JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

    To manage Credit Administration Unit (CAU) at NBV which maintains quality of the lending portfolio in respect to loan and advances contracting, loan disbursements, risk monitoring and control on the risk asset book.

    To actively monitor portfolio performance through reviewing, compiling and analysing monthly portfolio reports, identifying data patterns and trends from available information sources, interpret the trends and highlighting the credit risk concerns for discussion of the trends with Business Heads and Product Managers and recommending action to mitigate credit risk concerns; monitor and follow-up performance of the non-performing loans portfolio.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Effectiveness of the department structure and application of established systems (policies, process, procedures & tools) in achieving compliance requirements, optimal efficiency, resource utilization and cost containment (40%)
    • Quality of lending portfolio through management and monitoring of documentation compliance, disbursements, data integrity etc in support of business strategy. (10%)
    • Quality of leadership experienced throughout the department and how effectively that translates into conducive work environment and employee satisfaction. Adequacy of personal and staff competence to effectively perform department’s tasks (15%)
    • Reviews, commits and authorizes all core banking systems (T24) data input (loan disbursements, overdraft and non-funded facilities marking and static data amendments) done by team members to be in conformance with Facility Maintenance Memo (FMM) within the provided Turn Around Time (TAT) (20%)
    • Ensure consistency in adherence to and effective application of established credit portfolio risk compliance systems (policies, processes, and tools) to achieve optimal efficiency and cost containment. (10%)
    • Liaison with external service providers in the Bank’s approved panel including valuers and insurance companies among others as may be necessary in ensuring compliance to covenants of sanction (5%)

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

    • University degree preferably in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance or Business Administration,
    • At least 5 years’ experience in commercial banking operations and credit administration
    • Proficiency and Practical experience in data analytics and use of relevant MIS, BI & MS Office applications.
    • Strong IT skills and experience with office automation tools.
    • Experience with portfolio management and reporting.
    • Team management experience of at least 3 years and above
    • Working experience of the lending practice for financial institutions, in all market segments.
    • Practical experience in use of relevant core banking systems and MS Office applications.

    Head, Ecosystems & Alliance

    JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

    New Business Ventures (NBV) drives the Group’s Digital Financial Services agenda, with a mobile-first business model that seeks to gain significance amongst consumers and entrepreneurs in Africa. The division is mandated to lead the development of strategic capabilities and partnerships, that enhance the bank’s strategic positioning in digital financial services.

    NBV currently operates in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Ivory Coast, directly and through strategic partnerships and often times in the context of enabling digital ecosystems.

    The Head, Ecosystems and Strategic Alliances will drive this mission by conceiving of, developing or engaging with digital ecosystems that leverage and complement our strategic assets to gain new markets and defend existing markets in support of the company’s strategic ambitions.

    At its core, the role involves end-to-end leadership of ecosystem/partnership opportunities, including strategy development, idea generation and opportunity sourcing, business thesis development, deal structuring & negotiation, and execution planning.
    Externally, the Manager will develop high level relationships with partner organization business development and sales teams to develop scalable inorganic growth strategies.
    The role is for someone who is resourceful and proactive, exhibits outstanding judgment and professionalism, and thrives in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.

    Porfolio Analyst

    JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

    The purpose of this role is to maximize the recovery of the NBV Debt Portfolio in all markets that CBA shall operate in (currently 5 markets; 25Million customers and Group Balance Sheet size of Kes.13Billion) through co-ordination of the daily activities of the internal and/or outsourced Collections Teams, ensuring corrective actions are identified on time in pursuit of maximizing recovery of unpaid debts in a cost effective and efficient manner.
    To actively monitor portfolio performance through reviewing, compiling and analysing monthly portfolio reports, identifying data patterns and trends from available information sources, interpret the trends and highlighting the credit risk concerns for discussion of the trends with Business Heads and Product Managers and recommending action to mitigate credit risk concerns; monitor and follow-up performance of the non-performing loans portfolio.
    To ensure full compliance with The Group Credit Policy, Banking Act, and CBK Prudential Guidelines, Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Regulations, Co-operation Agreements; and preparation of portfolio reports to stakeholders.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for the monitoring of the NBV loan portfolio within set NPL and collection targets, preparation and recommendation of strategies to ensure maintenance of a quality portfolio; and timely reporting to indicate trends and performance of the NBV loan book; including but not limited to reports for review by the Management and Board
    • Credit Committees and Sovereign Central Banks. (40%)
    • Conduct periodical stress tests & provide new dimensions of portfolio analytics on assigned portfolio that support Business growth and quality of portfolio. (20%)
    • Allocate and coordinate the activities of the Collections Teams in liaison with Team Leaders of Business Partners/Outsourced Service Partners and making recommendations of how to maximize quality service delivery. (30%)
    • Ensure consistency in adherence to and effective application of established credit portfolio risk compliance systems (policies, processes, and tools) to achieve optimal efficiency and cost containment. (10%)
