    Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs

    Ref: HCA/MCA/HMCA/2/2017

    Overall Purpose: The Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs is the Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Unit and the adviser to the Chief Executive Officer on matters relating to marketing the qualifications of KASNEB nationally, regionally and internationally and on corporate affairs.

    2.1 Key duties and responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs will be responsible for:

    (i) Developing and implementing a marketing strategy for the qualifications of KASNEB within the national, regional and international markets.

    (ii) Developing and implementing a corporate brand and communication strategy.

    (iii) Developing and implementing a Business Development Policy.

    (iv) Conducting market intelligence, market surveys and market needs analysis.

    (v) Ensuring high quality customer service and customer care.

    (vi) Liaising with the Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) and other libraries to establish information on the activities of KASNEB and reading centres for the qualifications of KASNEB.

    (vii) Developing appropriate information, education and communication (IEC) materials, including publishing and distributing journals, newsletters, relevant study and reading materials.

    (viii) Coordinating collaborative agreements and linkages with strategic business partners nationally, regionally and internationally.

    (ix) Lead all areas of content generation and production across all media platforms.

    (x) Developing and implementing the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) strategy.

    (xi) Coordinating advertising initiatives.

    (xii) Preparing the Unit’s operational plan, work plans and budget.

    (xiii) Implementing quality management system (QMS) in the Unit

    (xiv) Ensuring risk management in the Unit.

    (xv) Ensuring staff performance management in the Unit through a target-based system.

    (xvi) Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    2.2 Academic / Professional Qualifications and Experience

    The ideal candidate will possess the following:

    (i) Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies or related discipline from a recognised university.

    (ii) Master’s degree in Marketing or relevant business related discipline from a recognised university.

    (iii) Professional qualifications in leadership or business related field from a recognised institution.

    (iv) Membership in good standing of a recognised professional body.

    (v) A minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience six (6) of which should be at Senior Level.

    (vi) A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in Marketing and Corporate Affairs for serving members of staff.

    2.3 Key Personal Attributes / Functional Skills

    The ideal candidate should:

    (i) Be honest, trustworthy and possess a high degree of personal integrity and professionalism.

    (ii) Demonstrate sound judgement, excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills.

    (iii) Be results oriented and willing to multitask and meet strict deadlines.

    (iv) Have strategic leadership skills.

    (v) Be a team player with ability to motivate staff.

    (vi) Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with varied stakeholders.

    (vii) Be customer centric and resourceful in problem solving.

    (viii) Exhibit an intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels including familiarity with varied digital marketing platforms.

    (ix) Advanced computer skills.

    (x) Satisfy the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
