    Chief Operations Officer

    Job Summary

    The position holder reports directly to the General Manager and responsible for overseeing coordination in implementation of transport activities, information and documentation flow, including addressing all emerging bottlenecks for timely resolutions and smooth operations.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Oversee coordination of departmental operations including timely resolution to challenges in liaison with HOD’s for smooth operations.
    • Oversee the achievement of workshop downtime target by ensuring to chair the daily workshop meeting to review previous work done on vehicle repairs and deliberate on emerging challenges.
    • Oversee achievement of the daily revenue targets per truck by ensuring to supervise the function of turnaround audit. This you will be required to have analyzed delay reports sent by fleet officers 3 times a day for visibility.
    • Oversee the identification and timely resolution on all delays with mechanisms to avoid recurrence.
    • Oversee timely availability of required vehicle spares and material in liaison with procurement and stores with effective mechanisms for material management & utilization to avoid misuse, including supervising quality circle meetings that ensures full participation by employees in solving problems related to on job challenges, and as well coming up with new innovative ways of achieving job related objectives.
    • Ensuring coordination, acquisition and renewal of truck documents including comesa, insurance, inspection, speed governor etc. in liaison with the administrative office and respective government offices.
    • Handling accident matters in liaison with safety office and appointed insurance agents i.e attending accident scenes making sure to capture relevant information for onward transmission to the Insurance with constant follow up.
    • Coordinating court cases in liaison with the Company Lawyer and the transport office to ensure company representation and driver availability with updated records.
    • Making follow-up on Insurance claims with appointed Insurance Companies and ensure all the claims are submitted in time with settlements done.
    • Overseeing proper filing of insurance and truck documentation while maintaining a log with constant update on ERP

    Qualifications

    • Holder of University degree in Business Management/ Finance or in any related field
    • Minimum 7 or more years of progressive management work experience in transport and logistics industry with proficiency in human resources management, financial management and supply chain management.
    • Knowledge of leadership and management principles.
    • Proficiency in IT and use of ERP System.
