    Adhesive Factory Inspector

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The Adhesive Factory Inspector will be responsible for monitoring the quality of raw materials, production processes, batches, and finished adhesive products to ensure that products consistently meet approved quality standards and specifications.
    • The successful candidate should have practical experience working in an adhesive, coatings, construction chemicals, chemical manufacturing, or related factory and be able to identify and report production and quality deviations.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Raw Material Inspection

    • Inspect incoming raw materials used in adhesive production.
    • Verify materials against approved specifications and required quality standards.
    • Check material identification, condition, quantity, and documentation.
    • Identify and report non-conforming raw materials.
    • Ensure proper recording and traceability of inspected materials.

    Production Inspection

    • Monitor adhesive production processes to ensure compliance with approved procedures.
    • Conduct inspections during different stages of production.
    • Monitor processes such as:
    • Mixing
    • Blending
    • Dosing
    • Dispersion
    • Reaction, where applicable
    • Filling
    • Packaging
    • Monitor production parameters and identify deviations.
    • Report abnormal production conditions immediately.

    Batch & Finished Product Inspection

    • Inspect adhesive batches against approved product specifications.
    • Conduct or support applicable quality checks such as:
    • Viscosity
    • Density
    • pH
    • Colour and appearance
    • Consistency
    • Solids content
    • Bonding performance
    • Setting/drying characteristics
    • Identify and isolate non-conforming batches.
    • Ensure products meet the required specifications before release.

    Quality Control & Documentation

    • Maintain accurate production and quality inspection records.
    • Record batch results, defects, deviations, rework, and rejected products.
    • Prepare inspection reports and communicate quality issues to the relevant supervisors.
    • Assist with investigation of quality failures and customer complaints.
    • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

    Equipment & Technical Inspection

    • Monitor production equipment and identify conditions that may affect product quality.
    • Work with Production and Maintenance teams when equipment-related problems occur.
    • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings is preferred.
    • Understand basic mechanical components used in adhesive production machinery.
    • Basic understanding of electrical components used in industrial equipment is preferred.
    • Be able to recognize common mechanical or electrical abnormalities and report them to the appropriate technical team.

    Quality Improvement

    • Identify recurring production and quality problems.
    • Support initiatives to reduce product rejection, wastage, rework, and customer complaints.
    • Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Technical teams.
    • Provide practical recommendations for improving product consistency and production efficiency.

    Health, Safety & Environment

    • Follow all factory safety procedures when handling chemicals and operating around production equipment.
    • Use appropriate PPE at all times.
    • Report spills, unsafe conditions, equipment abnormalities, and other safety risks.
    • Follow proper procedures for handling and storage of chemical materials.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education

    • KCSE / High School education or equivalent is acceptable.
    • A Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Production, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.

    Experience

    • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in an adhesive, coatings, construction chemicals, chemical manufacturing, or related factory.
    • Direct experience in an adhesive factory is strongly preferred.
    • Candidates with strong practical adhesive manufacturing experience may be considered even without a Diploma or Degree.

    Technical Skills

    • Good understanding of adhesive manufacturing processes.
    • Knowledge of common adhesive raw materials and production processes is an advantage.
    • Ability to understand product specifications and quality parameters.
    • Ability to conduct or understand basic adhesive quality checks.
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings is preferred.
    • Basic understanding of mechanical components and production machinery.
    • Basic understanding of electrical components and industrial equipment is preferred.
    • Ability to identify production abnormalities and escalate technical issues appropriately.

    PREFERRED INDUSTRY BACKGROUND

    • Candidates with previous experience in adhesive, coatings, construction chemicals, or related manufacturing companies will be highly preferred.
    • Experience with companies such as Sika, Kalemim, Crown, Dura Coat, Izomix, Eurafix, or other comparable adhesive/coatings manufacturers will be an added advantage.

    PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

    • The ideal candidate should have practical factory-floor experience in adhesive manufacturing, understand the production process and quality requirements, and be capable of identifying deviations in raw materials, production processes, equipment, and finished products.
    • Technical education is an advantage, but relevant hands-on industry experience will be given significant consideration.
