Application Engineer - Kenya at Ampersand E-mobility Limited

About the role
As part of this mission, Ampersand requires high-tech equipment and complex financing in order to leap-frog the old transport system. Ampersand currently manufactures electric 2-wheelers, battery packs and charge/swap stations in Kigali. We now seek to do the same as we expand into the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.  We require someone with an excellent understanding and hands-on experience in electronics and ability to lead a team of electrical technicians. Duties may include but not be limited to the following:

1. Troubleshooting and correcting battery issues in the areas of DC electronics
2. Design and troubleshooting of charge network 
3. Providing detailed diagnostics and running tests for the Engineering team.

Minimum requirements

1. A strong work ethic, and the ability to manage shifting priorities and unforeseen challenges.  
2. Minimum 5 years of prior industry experience in working with automotive, applied electronics or solar systems roles.
3. 2 years’ experience managing a team of technicians.
4. Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or proven results in your field.
5. Strong AC and DC wiring knowledge
6. Strong understanding of electrical systems and power electronics
7. Out of the box thinker, able to boil down complex problems into simple solutions. 
8. Fantastic communicator – perfect command of verbal and written English.
9. Solid understanding of low-level communication networks such as CANBus, MODBus, i2c, etc.
10. Good comprehension of Microsoft Office tools as well as Google Workspace.
11. Great team player — able to work seamlessly with fellow team members to successfully complete tasks.
12. You are a doer; you move quickly and iterate now on how to prioritize and get things done.
