    Assistant Director – Trade Development

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Principal Trade Development Officer Job Group ‘N’;
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Business management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, International Trade/Business/Relations or its equivalent qualifications from a University recognized in Kenya;
    • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Business management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, International Trade/Business/Relations or its equivalent qualifications from a University recognized in Kenya;
    • Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and
    • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Monitoring and evaluating trade activities and programmers;
    2. analyzing and interpreting reports and field returns;
    3. monitoring the impact of trade practices and making recommendations;
    4. undertaking research and market intelligence;
    5. participating in the preparation of the national business mapping directory;
    6. preparing briefs and position papers;
    7. interpreting and analyzing the Empowerment Fund quarterly returns and periodic inspections reports;
    8. Promoting activities of Public Private Sector Partnership for trade development; Coordinating the development of wholesale hubs/whole sale markets and tier 1 retail markets in the distribution value chain;
    9. Graduating Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); selecting and prioritizing the development of wholesale hubs/whole sale markets and tier 1 retail markets in the distribution value chain; analyzing county reports, returns, and business mapping data; and undertaking intra and inter-ministerial liaison on trade matters for trade development.
    10. Coordinating preparation of individual work plans; facilitating the settlement of trade disputes and address to public complaints/customer care issues; and
    11. Identifying business opportunities in the domestic market; undertaking research; carrying out market intelligence for trade development;
    12. monitoring and evaluating trade activities and programmes; and facilitating cross border trade;
    13. Promoting public-private sector partnership; promoting entrepreneurial venture creation, growth and development; and
    14. Other duties will include facilitating the settlement of trade disputes of trade disputes; responding to public complaints/ customer care issues; monitoring the impact of trade practices and making recommendations; and undertaking business counseling and consultancy services.

    Method of Application

    The completed KCPS 2 Form, together with certified copies of applicant’s academic/professional certificates, letter of appointment/promotion to their present grade and National Identity Card should reach the office of the Board Secretary, Kitui County Public Service Board, on or before Monday, 13th June, 2022.

    Short listed candidates shall be required to produce both originals and certified copies of their National Identity Card, Academic and Professional certificates and transcripts, letter of appointment/promotion to the current substantive post during interview. In addition, they will be required to ensure that the Head of Department’s recommendation on KCPS 2A Form is forwarded before the interview.
