    Assistant Manager - Marketing & Communications

    Key Responsibilities:

    Manage the conceptualization, formulation, management and implementation of:

     

    • A relevant and impactful marketing & communications plan that delivers on ICEA LION’s business strategy with specific emphasis on retail business growth.
    • An effective and engaging internal communications plan that promotes the culture that delivers on strategy.
    • Manage the Marketing & Communications team to deliver on strategic departmental objectives

    Planning, Budgeting & Resource Management

    • Develop strategies, initiatives and budgets to deliver on ICEA LION Group’s business strategic objectives.
    • Manage the marketing & communications expenditure to ensure attainment of objectives as per approved budget.
    • Manage project allocation and professional development of team members to deliver on strategy
    • Partner with relevant collaborators including: the business development team, customer experience team, digital, data & analytics, research and development to garner industry and customer insights so as to deploy and deliver on approved initiatives.

    Reputation Management

    • Economically manage and build affinity and desired repute for the ICEA LION brand across all customer touch points.
    • Manage development and deployment of relevant, impactful and engaging digital/social media strategies for our online properties.
    • Manage our Corporate Social Investment initiatives as per strategy.
    • Collaborate with various businesses within the group to identify unique brand, product and service engagement and visibility opportunities based on the internal and external consumers’ needs.
    • Partner with the customer experience teams to deliver on strategic initiatives.
    • Promote brand consistency internally and externally across East Africa.
    • Manage events and engagements to corporate standard.
    • Manage and deploy the corporate communications/public relations/media engagement strategy and initiatives.
    • Develop and deploy all corporate/product and service literature, presentations, publications, press releases and other public communication (in conjunction with internal stakeholders) in electronic and hard copy format.

    Group Business Support

    • Partner with various project teams across the region to deliver on their departmental marketing and communications needs.
    • Research on and develop wide-ranging corporate and business documents and reports.
    • Manage the ICEA LION culture and team spirit engagements across the region.
    • Develop compelling award entry submissions to corporate standards.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications or related field and over 5 years’ experience in a similar role in marketing & communications, preferably in a service oriented industry.
    • Digital/Online/Social Media strategy and implementation knowledge.
    • Strong knowledge of public / media relations and corporate communications best practices.
    • Oral and written communications skills.
    • Ability to draft and co-ordinate production of corporate literature and presentations, company publications, press releases, and other public communication in electronic and hard copy format.
    • People skills with the ability to interface with people at all levels from junior staff to executive management, as well as other stakeholders including the media and other business partners.
    • Ability to interpret and influence design and advertising work to deliver on the spirit and feel of the brand.
    • Adept at using Microsoft Office product suites as well as internet and intranet environments.
    • Problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
    • Influential team member with the ability to promote a positive atmosphere and desired culture throughout the organization.
    • Self-starter, organized and with high integrity.
    • High level of energy and ability to travel on short notice; ability to work under pressure and under challenging circumstances.
    • Capable of working with minimum supervision, able to manage time and meet tight deadlines
