Consultant- Legal Compliance & Immigration at Islamic Relief

Reporting To: Human Resources Coordinator

Qualification/ Experience

Qualified law firm/ individual or 2 years’ experience working with Kenya Government and Immigration departments and Good understanding of immigration laws, rules, and regulations

Location: Nairobi -100%

The Immigration Consultant’s responsibilities shall include the following:

1. Procurement of new work permits, work permit renewals, entry or re-entry visas for all international staff and dependents: -application forms to be ready 3 months before staff and dependents arrives in the country, Consultant with coordination IRK HR team will process the application forms and cover letters to the NGO Board and Immigration.
2. Processing temporary work permit (special passes).
3. Providing administrative and logistics support registration process and card processing for international staff and their dependents.
4. Processing entry/ or re-entry visa extensions
5. Processes and follow up with NGOs Coordination board for work permit or renewals and Endorsement form from the NGO Boards.
6. Advising IRK on new government/immigration rules and regulations.

DELIVERABLES

1. The consultancy to pick the completed forms from IRK offices and forward them to the Treasury; -the process to be completed in two to three months with continuous follow up
2. Processing of dependent passes; -to be completed in four weeks (one month)
3. Processing of multiple and journey visa-within two weeks depending on the type of visa
4. Temporary work permit (special pass); to be completed in two weeks
5. Visa extensions-to be done within one day after the collection of passports from the office
6. Assist in providing immigration requirement checklist for e-visa. Work permit, special pass etc.
7. Processing and follow up of work permit, renewals, and endorsement of form recommendation for work permit.
8. Responsible in assist applying online e-visa, work permit, especial pass etc.
9. Advising IRK on new immigration/government of Kenya regulations-this should be done immediately after the notice
10. Opening bank accounts to facilitate the process in the NGO board as per the local rules and regulations
11. Facilitate opening of banks and approval of signatories for Islamic Relief kenya office.

REQUIRED PROFILE OF THE FIRM/INDIVIDUAL

Qualified law firm/Individual or at least 2 years’ experience working with Kenya Government and Immigration departments.

Good understanding of immigration laws, rules, and regulations
