    Deputy Director Environmental Education, Information & Awareness

    Job Responsibilities

    Responsibility

    • Facilitating Environmental Education
    • Enhancing public awareness and Information on environmental issues
    • Mobilizing the public to participate in environmental conservation and management
    • Coordinating Development of Environmental Content for publicity materials
    • Collation and dissemination of environmental information
    • Publication of Articles
    • Establishment of National Information and Documentation Centres
    • Promoting Best Environmental practices
    • Coordinating establishment and operationalization of Demonstration Centres
    • Spearheading preparation and participation of the Authority in selected international and national environmental days and events
    • Promoting partnerships with relevant stakeholders in environmental management and conservation
    • Coordinating environmentaql education awareness programmes
    • Coordinating curriculum development on environmental matters for capacity building
    • Monitoring and evaluation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) programmes
    • Enhancing compliance promotion in industry
    • Promoting natural resource management
    • Implementing environmental Award schemes
    • Enhancing capacity of Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Counties on environmental sustainability
    • Enhancing capacity of NEMA staff and lead agencies on Basic Enforcement Course (BEC)/Principles of compliance and enforcement
    • Managing environmental information and demonstration centers
    • Coordinating academic visits by the public to enhance environmental management
    • Coordinating implementation of relevant Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs)

    Job Requirements

    Qualification

    • Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields; Environmental Education, Environmental Sciences; Education, Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development, or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution;
    • Masters Degree in any of the following field: Env. Education, Env. Law. Env. Policy; Education; Env. Education, Env. Sciences; Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development,development studies or any other relevant qualification
    • Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
    • Proficiency in computer applications
    • A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant work experience in environmental field and at least four (4) years in management role in the Public Service or Private Sector
    • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
    • Good communication skills
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in the work performance and results
    • Planning & Coordination skills
