A kiosk is an informal convenience store selling everyday household items. Known locally by their vernacular names e.g. Duka in Kenya, Spaza in South Africa, Kantemba in Zambia. kiosk-type retail outlets are the cornerstone of African retail, accounting for over 60% of all retail trade flows. Despite their importance, kiosk-type retail outlets face significant challenges, including high cost of stock and unreliable delivery.Â
Role Profile
The Head of Marketing has the ultimate responsibility of marketing and communication within and across the different operations. The role is tasked with building the Kyosk brand from scratch with its array of products and services. And importantly leading & articulating the Kyosk brand positioning & marketing, PR, Digital and communication strategy to both internal and external stakeholders. Provides functional advice to Global office and Country Managing Directors on strategic marketing and positioning issues relating to brand Kyosk, with emphasis on marketing, digital and communication performance against agreed objectives. And may be called upon to be a spokesperson for the company.
To direct, control, motivate and build capacity for the in-country marketing teams to achieve agreed country specific marketing and communication targets.
