    Medical Specialist II

    Requirement for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade an officer must have:

    1. Served as Senior Medical Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
    2. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
    3. Registration Certificate by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
    4. Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
    5. Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    6. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
    7. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

    1. Reviewing patients and instructing in writing all the recommendations;
    2. Undertaking “First-on-Call” duties including clerking, investigating, and managing patients;
    3. Conducting weekly clinic and theatre days;
    4. Managing health facilities at various tiers in communities;
    5. Responding to intern calls;
    6. Training, supervising and mentoring Medical Officers (Intern) and other students;
    7. Performing emergency surgeries;
    8. Undertaking medico-legal duties including filling of P.3 forms, court attendance and performing post mortems;
    9. Undertaking medical examinations and preparing Medical Board Proceedings;
    10. Carrying out community diagnosis, care and treatment;
    11. Ensuring data and information is collected, transmitted and utilized to benefit the customer and service provider;
    12. Conducting disease surveillance, prevention, and control;
    13. Carrying out health education and promotion; and
    14. Preparing medical reports.

    Method of Application

    Interested and qualified candidates are requested to make their applications by completing one application on the Kitui County Public Service 2 (KCPS 2) Form.

    The completed KCPS 2 Form, together with certified copies of applicant’s academic/professional certificates, letter of appointment/promotion to their present grade and National Identity Card should reach the office of the Board Secretary, Kitui County Public Service Board, on or before Monday, 13th June, 2022.

    Short listed candidates shall be required to produce both originals and certified copies of their National Identity Card, Academic and Professional certificates and transcripts, letter of appointment/promotion to the current substantive post during interview. In addition, they will be required to ensure that the Head of Department’s recommendation on KCPS 2A Form is forwarded before the interview.
