We are seeking a highly organized and proactive MMD Officer to work in the hospital’s medical stores and supplies department. The successful candidate will manage inventory, ensure timely distribution of medical consumables and equipment, and work with other MMD staff to guarantee efficiency, compliance, and availability of resources for clinical operations.
Responsibilities
Carry out daily activities in the Medical Materials Department (MMD) including receiving, verification, storage, and issuance of medical supplies and consumables.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records and assist in preparing periodic stock reports.
Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and reorder requirements, and promptly report any shortages or potential wastage to the supervisor.
Ensure all operations are conducted in compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with procurement, finance, and clinical teams to facilitate timely availability of required supplies.
Participate in regular stock counts and provide support during internal and external audits.
Observe proper handling and storage procedures to maintain the integrity and safety of medical items.
Report any supply chain or operational challenges to the MMD Supervisor/Head of Procurement & Supply Chain for resolution.
Promote cost awareness, accountability, and efficient use of hospital resources within the department.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or healthcare related procurement qualifications.
CIPS certification or progress toward certification is an added advantage.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical stores, inventory, or supply chain management.
Knowledge of medical consumables, equipment handling, and healthcare logistics.
Proficiency in MS Office and inventory/ERP systems.
