Requirements for appointment

• Be a Kenyan citizen;
• Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
• Post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
• Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK);
• Must be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current and valid practicing certificate;
• A minimum experience of six (6) years in either public or private legal practice;
• Proficiency in computer skills and membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) will be an added advantage.
• Satisfies requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity.

The duties and responsibilities include: -

• Shall, on the instructions of the county attorney represent the county executive in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party, other than criminal proceedings.
• Handling pre-legal disputes and inquiries, preparing legal opinions and legal briefs drafting leases and contracts.
• Formulate, implement and review legal strategies, policies, plans, standards and procedures pertaining to legal services as per the County’s strategic plan.
• Advice and assist the county Government in compliance with national and international instruments.
• Ensuring compliance with principle and values of good governance, Human right, transparency, ethics and integrity
• Analyzing research data and compiling reports
• Undertaking law review
• Interpreting legal instruments and statutes.
• Perform any other function that may be assigned from time to time.
