    Senior Quantity Surveyor

    Requirements

    For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: -

    1. A Bachelor’s degree in Building Economics, Quantity Surveying or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    2. Registered as a Quantity Surveyor with a relevant professional body.
    3. Proficiency in computer application skills;
    4. Demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results; and
    5. Met the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

    Experience:

    1. Minimum six (6) years relevant work experience;
    2. At least three (3) years at Supervisory Management level.

    Job Core Competencies:

    1. Sound knowledge of Public Procurement Laws of Kenya;
    2. Ability to undertake accuracy of cost analysis for projects, repairs, and maintenance works;
    3. Demonstrated ability to perform risk, value management, and cost control;
    4. Excellent written and oral communication skills;
    5. Leadership & Good interpersonal skills;
    6. Professional and Technical competence;
    7. Confidentiality, High Integrity, attention to details and accuracy;
    8. Analytical & Negotiation Skills; and
    9. Organizational, planning skills and Results-oriented.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Undertaking accuracy of cost analysis for projects, repairs and maintenance works;
    2. Performing risk, value management, and cost control;
    3. Conducting feasibility studies and project requirements;
    4. Preparing specification documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and - or the client;
    5. Calculating estimations and costing of works;
    6. Costing appraisal of material and labour scheduling for all on-going projects, quality control (on basis of construction program); and
    7. Providing post-occupancy advice, facilities management services and life cycle costing advice.
