    Assistant Risk Consultant - Medical Operations

    Roles and responsibilities

    Achieving Zamara’s ambitious strategic priorities will be complex and challenging. Its continued success will be dependent on building and retaining a world-class team. The Assistant Risk Consultant will provide seamless and efficient day to day operational support for allocated accounts thereby driving retention and new business acquisition.

    This role reports to the Senior Risk Consultant.

    In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

    People Management

    • Following up on set process flows and making sure that set TAT’s are adhered to
    • Quality check and control on all allocated existing clients and new business.
    • Following up with insurer on issues & escalating unresolved issues to the Senior Risk Consultant.

    Financial Reporting

    • Carrying out Reconciliation exercises with underwriters and finance and making sure that the financial statements for allocated schemes tally.
    • Collection of debited premium/fees due within set payment plans and ensuring allocation with finance team.
    • Preparation of Administration Reports for each allocated account.

    Underwriting

    • Scheme set up in the Beyontec system
    • Invoicing for new clients, renewing clients and organic growth
    • Reconciliation of accounts with finance and underwriters
    • Issuance of travel cover policies

    Database Management

    • Acknowledgement of receipt of membership instructions from client.
    • Advising insurer on membership instructions received (additions & deletions)
    • Accurate day to day membership updates in M-Files & Beyontec
    • Clean up of renewal lists in M-Files and Beyontec
    • Preparation, verification for accuracy and dispatch of cards to client
    • Prepare and send Member statements for clients

    Experience and personal qualities

    • Degree in any business-related field.
    • Professional insurance certification is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in underwriting/operations.
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
    • Good communication skills both written and spoken.

    Risk Consultant, Business Development - Retail Insurance Broking

    In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

    New Business

    Source for new business and generate revenue for the department by: -

    • Networking with potential clients & other stakeholders to identify gaps and solutions that we can offer.
    • Generate referrals & leads from clients & other sources based on existing relationships & unmatched service delivery.
    • Client presentations on Zamara offerings and solutions.
    • Cross selling within Zamara Group.
    • Looking for new opportunities for growth & partnerships through collaboration with other BD members.
    • Work towards achieving set personal targets which will feed into the department’s targets.
    • Negotiate with underwriters on benefits, rates, discounts in order to offer the client the most competitive solution.

    Account Servicing

    • Review underwriting documents to ensure they agree with the current market trends, the Insurance Act and IRA guidelines.
    • Confirm that underwriting pre-requisites are met before a risk is taken up.
    • Handle renewals and midterm premium adjustments.
    • Ensure premiums are fully paid by providing monthly updates of outstanding premiums.
    • Identify client’s needs and ensure they are satisfactorily met.
    • Carry out product training to clients to ensure client are aware of what they are covered for.
    • Send out periodic e-shots on various products offered in retail as well as sensitization of pertinent matters concerning existing covers.

    Managing and Growing Client Portfolio

    • Formulate a client log to track existing clients plus their current policies.
    • Engage existing clients throughout their policy period in terms of updates on market trends to build good relationships.
    • Design tailor-made policies to suit client needs.

    Internal Training

    • Provide guidance and training to new staff on their relevant roles.
    • Organize external teams (Insurers) to train staff on existing and new products.
    • Organize internal training for processes and products.
    • Carry out proficiency tests on product knowledge and retail process.

    Experience and personal qualities

    The following experience is preferred:

    • Bachelor of Commerce degree - Insurance option or business-related field
    • Pursuing ACII qualification
    • Strong knowledge of insurance products
    • System training on M-files
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Proficiency in Insurance Broking software
    • Proficiency in navigating network drives, DMS
    • Effective writing & communication skills
    • Report writing skills

    The following personal qualities are preferred:

    • Ability to persuade and influence
    • Client service orientation
    • Advanced relationship building & networking skills at all levels
    • Ability to multi-task and delegate where appropriate
